Abstract

Berdasarkan klasifikasi kesehatan pohon, sebanyak 90,98% (n = 33619) tegakan termasuk kelas sehat, 8,27% (n = 329) tegakan termasuk kelas kerusakan ringan, dan 0,75% (n = 30) tegakan termasuk kelas kerusakan sedang.

Abstract

Abstract

Tlogowatu Village, Kemalang District, Klaten Regency, is located on the slopes of Merapi Mountain. Currently, sand and stone mining from Merapi Mountain is the primary commodity produced by Tlogowatu Village. If this condition continues, it will cause the damage to the environment. Therefore, several community leaders have cultivated the stingless bee (Trigona laeviceps) as an economic source while adhering to ecological principles through stingless bee farming in community forests. However, community forest and stingless beekeeping need to be appropriately managed, especially in terms of management, production, and marketing aspects. Activities are carried out in several stages, namely starting with pre-activity surveys, counselling and practical development of management, production and marketing aspects, as well as monitoring and evaluation of activities. This activity has increased the knowledge of target partners regarding the livestock of Clanceng in community forests in the form of another type of Clanceng, namely T. biroi, various feed sources, techniques for breaking up split rapid colonies, and good honey packaging. Apart from that, through klanceng livestock in community forests, local communities also gain ecological benefits and build potential for developing agricultural education tourism (edu-agro-tourism) areas.

Abstract

An essential element relevant to forest sustainability is the state of health of the stand. Health conditions of trees can be affected by both biotic and abiotic elements. This study aims to identify tree damage in the protected blocks of the Bunder Forest Park (Tahura) in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, using three parameters: damage location, damage type, and severity level. Observations were carried out in three clusters using the Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) method in protection block. The results showed that 16 trees were categorized as healthy, 41 threes experieced minor damage, and 10 threes had moderate damage. The most frequent damage location on individual trees was found on the lower trunk. The most commonly observed type of damage was open wounds. The most frequent severity level was 20%, which indicates a low level of damage. Nevertheless, it is necessary to conduct monitoring of tree health in order to facilitate the sustainable management of the Tahura Bunder forest reserve.

Abstract

Fundamental information about stands, particularly concerning structural diversity and composition, is crucial for comprehending the extent of plant species variety. This study is to analyze the structure and composition of species within the plant collection stands located in the protected area of Bunder Forest Park in Yogyakarta. The research efforts encompass the gathering of data on growth parameters like height, diameter, and crown width. The vegetation analysis data collection method entailed establishing observation plots in both square and transect configurations, each measuring 100 meters in length. The determined sample intensity was 3.3%, yielding 15 plots distributed over 3 transects, each measuring 100×20 meters. The plant species composition in plots 20 and 21 of the protection block in Tahura Bunder comprises 10 species: flamboyant, cajuputy, nyamplung, acacia, mahogany, teak, trembesi, gamal, jambu darsono, and tamarind. Transect 3 exhibited the greatest species variety. The vegetation structure in plots 20 and 21 is categorized within layers C and D. The main tree species in the stand, according to the Importance Value Index (IVI), is cajuputi (Melaleuca leucadendra), with an IVI of 208.27%. This study recommends enhancing plant species diversity to ensure the sustainability of genetic resources, particularly the indigenous species in the Tahura Bunder Yogyakarta region.

Abstract

Forest Farmer Group (KTH) is a platform which facilitates the establishment of enterprises by communities residing near forests. The KTH Harapan Makmur, situated in Gempolan Village, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, has the capacity to harness both human resources and natural resources. Nevertheless, when it comes to organizational development, it lies short of being ideal. Therefore, it is imperative to offer support linked to enhancing institutional capacity. The objective of this action is to enhance community awareness of growing organizations. A community service event took place in July 2023, attended by representatives from the Gempolan Village Government, forestry extension workers, a community service team from Universitas Sebelas Maret, and members of the KTH Harapan Makmur. The activity was implemented through the organization of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) primarily aimed at facilitating the compilation of the AD/ART. Attending participants were requested to complete a questionnaire. The activity findings indicate that roughly 40.9% of KTH Harapan Makmur members are employed as farmers, earning a monthly income ranging from less than 1 million rupiah to 3 million rupiah. Following the session, participants' understanding of KTH exhibited a percentage gain in comparison to their level of knowledge before the activity. Thus far, the primary obstacle has been the procurement of capital sources, which remain restricted. Engagement in diverse activities is expected to create possibilities for collaboration and capital acquisition to ensure the long-term viability of KTH's business.

Abstract

Pucung Village is located in Eromoko District, Wonogiri Regency, part of the Gunung Sewu karst area with diverse biodiversity, including herpetofauna (amphibians and reptiles). Limited information on the distribution patterns and abundance of herpetofauna is the focus of this study. This study examined herpetofauna diversity across three habitat types (river, forest, and field). Using Visual Encounter Surveys (VES) and line transects, 455 individuals from 19 species (10 families, 2 orders) were recorded. Forests exhibited the highest species diversity (H’ = 2.152 in Mijil, 1.873 in Dunggudel) and richness (R = 2.962 in Mijil, 2.392 in Dunggudel), attributed to structural complexity and niche availability. Fields showed high abundance but low diversity, dominated by Fejervarya cancrivora and Fejervarya limnocharis, indicating anthropogenic influence. River habitats displayed intermediate diversity, with variability linked to water quality and disturbance levels. Species similarity between habitats was moderate (53%), with the highest overlap between river and field habitats (72.73% in Mijil). Dispersed distribution patterns were observed, driven by water availability during the rainy season. Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) revealed that water pH, temperature, and humidity significantly influenced herpetofauna presence, particularly for amphibians in field habitats. Future research should incorporate functional diversity metrics and long-term monitoring to assess climate and land-use effects.
