Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that affect red chili farming's income in the village of Maligas Bandar, Simalungun Regency. This study's population consisted of forty red chili farmers. Quantitative descriptive research was used in this study. The results found in this research variable influence the production of red chili significantly in Maligas Bandar Village, Gunung Malela District, Simalungun Regency. According to the findings of the analysis, the variable land area (X1), seeds (X2) and fertilizer (X3) had a significant impact on the production of red chili or the variable (Y). The results of the calculation of R2 explain 0.850% or 85%. While the remaining 25% are variables not included in this study.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan mulsa organik jerami padi terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata) pada tanah Inseptisol. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non faktorial yang terdiri atas empat perlakuan, yaitu tanpa mulsa (J0), serta pemberian mulsa jerami padi sebanyak 3 kg/plot (J1), 6 kg/plot (J2), dan 9 kg/plot (J3). Parameter yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan luas daun pada umur 3 hingga 5 minggu setelah tanam (MST). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian mulsa jerami padi berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman jagung manis, terutama pada parameter tinggi tanaman umur 3 dan 4 MST, jumlah daun umur 4 dan 5 MST, serta luas daun pada semua waktu pengamatan. Perlakuan terbaik diperoleh pada pemberian mulsa 3 kg/plot dan 9 kg/plot yang secara konsisten memberikan hasil pertumbuhan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol (tanpa mulsa). Pemberian mulsa jerami padi mampu menciptakan lingkungan tumbuh yang lebih optimal melalui perbaikan kondisi kelembaban tanah, suhu tanah, dan penekanan gulma. Dengan demikian, penggunaan mulsa organik jerami padi dapat direkomendasikan sebagai teknik budidaya ramah lingkungan yang efektif untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan jagung manis pada lahan Inseptisol.

Abstract

The high rate of poverty and economic inequality in urban areas requires an inclusive and sustainable economic empowerment strategy. This service aims to strengthen the economic independence of underprivileged communities in urban areas through the Joint Business Group (KUBE) approach. By increasing income, diversifying businesses, and expanding the collaboration network, KUBE members will develop further. This service method uses Participatory Action Research (PAR) involving intensive and continuous assistance to KUBE members, including business skills training, strengthening business models, and collaboration with microfinance institutions and local governments in Binjai Timur, Kota Binjai, Sumatera Utara. The results of the service show a significant increase in KUBE members' income, with an average increase of 30% in one year. Business diversification also occurred with the success of KUBE members adding 3 new products to their business portfolio, increasing competitiveness and local market access. Strengthening cooperation networks is also a positive result of this service, with the establishment of collaborations that provide additional access to resources and economic opportunities. The conclusion of this service confirms that assistance through KUBE is effective in increasing the economic independence of underprivileged communities in urban areas. This program not only provides training, but also builds independent capabilities, expands markets, and strengthens the local business ecosystem, thereby providing a sustainable positive impact in improving community welfare.

Abstract

Hari Bumi ke-55 tahun ini diperingati dengan "Gerakan Penanaman 1 Juta Bibit Matoa" sebagai wujud tanggung jawab kolektif dalam merawat kelestarian bumi dan merespons krisis iklim serta kerusakan alam. Kegiatan ini merupakan sinergi konservasi dan edukasi, khususnya di Tempat Pemakaman Umum (TPU) Muslim Simalingkar B, Medan, sebagai model rehabilitasi Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH). TPU Muslim Simalingkar B dipilih karena ketersediaan lahan terbuka yang luas namun masih tandus, menyebabkan suhu tinggi, degradasi tanah, dan menurunnya fungsi ekologis. Metode pengabdian ini menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dan edukatif, melibatkan berbagai mitra seperti pemerintah daerah (Kementerian Agama Kota Medan, Pemerintah Kota Medan, BPDASHL Asahan), komunitas (Fosil BKMI Kota Medan, Perwaku, Fordas Wampu Ular), perguruan tinggi (Universitas Amir Hamzah, Universitas Tjut Nyak Dhien), dan mahasiswa. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi persiapan, sosialisasi dan pelatihan, penanaman, pemeliharaan dan monitoring, serta edukasi berkelanjutan. Hasil utama kegiatan ini mencakup penanaman 1.000 bibit matoa di TPU Muslim Simalingkar B, terbentuknya area percontohan penghijauan TPU, serta peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat, mahasiswa, dan mitra dalam teknik penanaman dan pemeliharaan pohon matoa. Dampaknya termasuk peningkatan fungsi ekologis lahan pasif, implementasi keilmuan Program Studi Agroteknologi, peningkatan kesadaran dan partisipasi masyarakat, serta terjalinnya kolaborasi lintas sektor. Keberhasilan kegiatan dinilai dari partisipasi masyarakat dan kesadaran kolektif bahwa menjaga bumi adalah tanggung jawab bersama, merupakan investasi jangka panjang untuk generasi mendatang.

Abstract

Arabica coffee plants can only grow optimally at altitudes above 1,000 meters above sea level. This research aims to compare the growth and yield of Arabica coffee plants (Coffea arabica) on land with and without Rorak at the Testing and Implementation Installation of Standard Agricultural Instruments (IP2SIP) in Gayo Regency, Aceh. The study uses a descriptive quantitative method with purposive sampling, involving 50 plant samples from two gardens. Growth parameters observed include stem diameter and leaf area, while yield parameters include fruit diameter and fruit weight. The results show that plants grown on land with Rorak exhibit significantly different growth compared to those on land without Rorak. Stem diameter and leaf area are larger on land with Rorak, indicating more optimal physiological conditions and vegetative development. Regarding yield parameters, fruit diameter and fruit weight are also higher on land with Rorak, reflecting better seed formation and more complete fruit filling. Overall, the implementation of Rorak in Arabica coffee plantations has the potential to enhance vegetative growth and plant productivity, making it an effective practice for sustainable cultivation systems in highland areas.
