Abstract

The objectives of this research is to know the Effects of Self-confidence and Vocabulary Mastery towards Students’ Speaking Skill – Survey at State Vocational High Schools, Tangerang City, Banten. The research populations were 600 students and the samples were 60 students taken from eleventh grade SMKN 7 and SMKN 9 vocational high schools at second semester of 2019/2020 academic year in Tangerang city. The instruments of the research were composed of 25 items of vocabulary test questions and 40 items questionnaire of students’ self-confidence. This research was designed and calculated using quantitative calculation. The major findings of the research indicates that the effects of self-confidence and vocabulary mastery towards the students’ speaking skill of eleventh grade Tangerang City Vocational High School is of high level category. The results of the research are as follow:1)There are any significant effects of self-confidence and vocabulary mastery jointly towards students’ speaking skill at the State Vocational High Schools in Tangerang City, Banten. It is proved by the value of Sig is 0.000<0.05 and the value of Ftest is 45.105. 2) There is a significant effect of self-confidence towards students’ speaking skill. It is proved by the value of Sig 0.042<0.05 and ttest of 2.075. 3) There is no significant effect of vocabulary mastery towards students’ speaking skill at the State Vocational High Schools in Tangerang City, Banten. It is proved by the value of Sig is 0.138>0.05 and ttest 1.502. Based on the research findings it can be recommended that speaking skill requires high level of self-confidence and adequate vocabulary mastery. Speaking skill is not only influenced by vast amount of vocabulary mastery but other influential factors at the state vocational high schools in Tangerang city such as high level of self-confidence.Keywords: Self-confident, Speaking Skill and Vocabulary Mastery.

Abstract

Abstract: This study was to know the teaching model and vocabulary mastery by students at state vocational high schools in Tangerang Regency when writing. The research methodology used is the experimental method. The population in this research was all of the 10th-grade students, with 680 students. The research findings are: 1) There is a significant effect of teaching model towards students writing achievement at State Vocational High School in Tangerang Regency. That is proved by sig value  = 0.000 < 0.05 and Faccount = 29.298. 2) There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery towards students writing achievement at State Vocational High School Tangerang Regency. That is proved by sig value = 0.000 < 0.05 and Faccount = 17.945. 3) There are no significant interactive effects of teaching model and vocabulary mastery towards students writing achievement at State Vocational High School Tangerang Regency. That is proved by sig value = 0.041 < 0.05 and Faccount = 4.486.Keywords: Teaching model; vocabulary mastery; writing achievement.

Abstract

This research is a kind of survey and aims to determine the effects of simple present verb and vocabulary mastery on students' writing skills in procedure text. This research has three variables which are divided into two independent variables and one dependent variable. Test scores do the collection of the data for independent and dependent variables. The gained data were then analyzed by using the multiple regressions method. The results of this research are: 1) There are significant effects of simple present verb and vocabulary mastery towards students' writing skills in procedure text. It is proved by Sig.= 0.000 < 0.05 and Fobserved = 12.541; 2) There is a significant effect of simple present verb towards students' writing skill in procedure text. It is proved by Sig.= 0.000 < 0.05 and tobserved = 2.041; 3) There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery towards students' writing skills in procedure text. It is proved by Sig.= 0.000 < 0.05 and tobserved = 2.201.Keywords: simple present verb, vocabulary mastery, procedure English text

Abstract

The Objective of this research was to analyze, know and describe the use of simple present verb on descriptive text and the use of adjective on descriptive text made by students of Public Junior High School in Bekasi. The number of population is 612. As the sample the researcher took 60 students from the population. The method used in this study was content analysis method to describe students’ errors consisting 418 erroneous sentences and analyze the data taken from written test. The finding shows that errors are 1). 56,93% or 238 errors occurred in the simple present verb and 2). 43,06% or 180 errors occurred in Adjective. It happened because the students did not really understand and they were not able to use simple present verb and adjective correctly in the sentence.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effects of perception of learning media and vocabulary mastery on the English-speaking ability of eighth grade State Junior High School students in South Jakarta. The research method uses a survey method, with the random sampling technique with a sample of 60 students as research respondents. The results of the research are 1) There is a significant effect between the variables perception of learning media and vocabulary mastery together on the English speaking ability, this is evidenced by the results of Sig. 0.000 < 0.05 and Fo = 69.411. 2) There is a significant influence on the perception of learning media on English speaking ability with the results of Sig. 0.030 < 0.05 and Fo = 2222. 3) There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery on English speaking ability with the results of Sig. 0.000 < 0.05 and Fo = 5.472.
