Abstract

Violence against women is still a thorny issue in Indonesia. Data of Lembar Fakta Catatan Tahunan (CATAHU) from National Commission for Women in 2015 reached to 16.217 cases. Discrimination of local regulations, religious intolerance, death penalty policy, evictions, and political conflicts are considered associated with it. Resistance to this issue has been conducted through social movements (women), but the results have not been succesful. The development of the women’s movement has shifted from the old social movements (physical) towards new social movements (digital). Advancement in technology of new media communication hasprovide a space for people to interact in a novel patterns. Internet is considered as a medium capable of facilitating the movement of women to communicate their aspirations, mobilizing the masses to make collective actions. This paper aims to describe the transformation of communication through new media in the women’s movement for gender justice with case studies in Surakarta and Yogyakarta. This study is conducted in several groups of the women’s movement which are based in community and NGO.

Abstract

New media provide opportunities of new interaction patterns in raising collective action. This study seeks to explain how actors play a role in the movement of the virtual movement to create the success of the movement. Actor Network Theory Perspective be used as a paradigm of thinking. The method used is qualitative case study #sayaKPK uploaded petition through change.org. Results of the study revealed that ANT applied in such cases. This perspective suggests that the actor who plays the movement is not only meant as a human being, but also material and texts are interconnected in a network that hyperconnected. Abstract

Jumlah angkatan kerja di Indonesia mengalami peningkatan seiring dengan jumlah partisipasi perempuan untuk bekerja. Faktanya deskriminasi perempuan dalam sektor ekonomi formal dan informal belum terselesaikan. Di sisi lain internet memberi peluang bagi perempuan untuk bekerja tanpa harus meninggalkan rumah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bagaimana konstruksi sosial perempuan pekerja usaha online terhadap definisi kerja dan bagaimana teknologi (internet) memberi kuasa bagi perempuan untuk mengembangkan keberdayaan mereka. Penelitian ini mendiskusikan teori kuasa pendekatan Michel Foucault dan Gramsci untuk memahami bagaimana kuasa digunakan perempuan dalam interaksinya dengan teknologi dan sistem patriaki serta sistem sosial budaya yang lebih luas. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah deskriptif eksploratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perempuan mempunyai kuasa terhadap teknologi. Dia mendapat keuntungan secara praktis seperti menghasilkan pendapatan, lebih dihargai dan dapat berinteraksi dengan lingkungan di luar. Namun ketika diperhadapkan dengan sistem patriakri dan sistem sosial yang lebih luas, perempuan nyatanya powerless. Dia terhegemoni dengan status keperempuanannya dengan menyebut dirinya “bukan pekerja”, hanya “menambah penghasilan suami” dan tetap berbeban ganda untuk menjaga keseimbangan wilayah domestik dan publik.

Abstract

The new media give consequence to the study of communication sciences. Empirical facts showed that communication research often get stuck on the wrong footing basis in analyzing social conditions, but there is no doubt that the theory of communication should be in harmony with the development of technologies that facilitate society and interaction process. This study seeks to provide a description of how the development of the theory of communication and dialogue with communication problems emerging. David Holmes's view on the development of communication studies will overshadow this article. Abstract

"Public Sphere", which now form the mass media, contributing significantly to the struggle of women. Aspirations of women who had been confined in the domestic realm, became more a place, after public sphere began to appear. At the time of the Republic of Indonesia into the world spotlight, because the lower level of the reader for the young, DetEksi rubric come up and amplifying the voices of youth. The emergence rubric DetEksi be interesting, seeing that the theme is being discussed, always involves respondents in large quantities, which consists of women and men, which can be freely as if expressing their aspirations. This study aimed to describe the discourse of subordination of women in the public sphere. Critical discourse analysis used in this study, as in the view of Sara Mills, the media has been very biased in presenting women. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach, with a descriptive study. Abstract

Starting from the emergence of protest actions against the publication of drawing image of the Prophet Mohammed caricatures interpretive on magazine cover of the French edition of 19 September 2012. The image is the main image of the magazine cover issue is consider as mocking and have insulted the Prophet Muhammad. As we know that the Prophet Muhammad is the Apostle gives the teachings of Islam and described in the Hadits that all living things must not be portrayed visualization including all the prophets.  The main image of the magazine cover portrayed two characters with each identity attached to them. Main Image then became a controversy with the pros and cons in response to magazine cover picture Charlie Hebo 19 September 2012 Edition.   The aim of this research is to know the connotative meaning of Prophet Mohammed caricature on Charlie Hebdo magazine cover, therefore using semiotics Roland Barthes as a tool for analyzing a magazine cover is the best way from point of view of researcher. Conclusion of this research is the main image of Charlie Hebdo magazine cover issued September 19, 2012 was a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed caricature rather than opinion. Abstract

Social communication in the police institution is important to develop community-oriented policing (COP). This social communication can be a communication bridge between the police and the community for the purpose of integration or social adaptation. For this purpose, community service is carried out at the Pusdik Binmas Lemdiklat Polri in the form of making instructional videos for Binmas functions in the community. Instructional videos are expected to provide an overview about the synergy between the police and the community. The method used in this service is carried out through pre-production, production and post-production activities. As a result of community service there are eight instructional videos for use at the Pusdik Binmas Lemdiklat Polri.

Abstract

Abstrak Globalisasi dan postmodernitas menawarkan konsep berpikir dan praktek yang berimbas pada cara hidup masyarakat secara berbeda. Euforia gelombang budaya Korea dan Jepang, sedikit menggeser budaya barat (dewesterinisasi) yang telah mengkooptasi budaya anak muda di Indonesia, menjadi salah satu bukti bagaimana kontestasi kepentingan terjadi pula dalam era kini. Terlebih ketika isu ini kemudian melekat dengan persoalan pergeseran identitas anak muda, pun yang terjadi di Maluku, dimana lokus penelitian ini akan dilakukan. Dalam kondisi tersebut, berbagai gerakan diinisiasi oleh beberapa kelompok untuk mempertahankan identitas subkultur yang dimiliki. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (a) mendeskripsikan identitas kultural yang dipahami penggiat seni di Maluku; (b) menjelaskan upaya restorasi identitas subkultur masyarakat Maluku dilakukan oleh para penggiat seni; dan (c) mendeskripsikan tantangan yang dihadapi dalam restorasi tersebut. Penelitian akan dilakukan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD), wawancara mendalam terhadap 6 orang seniman Maluku, observasi, serta menggunakan proses analisis yang diperkuat dengan dokumen-dokumen karya yang mereka ciptakan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penggiat seni di Maluku memandang identitas kultural merupakan kekhasan budaya Maluku yang bersifat statis dan harus dipertahankan. Upaya restorasi mereka lakukan menggunakan medium karya seni berupa musik (baik lirik maupun instrument) dan karya foto dan audio visual. Tantangan penggiat seni di Maluku adalah rendahnya penerimaan masyarakat lokal terhadap karya seni berbasis identitas lokal dan keberlangsungan pelaku sendiri dalam mempertahankan ideologi mereka terhadap eksistensi budaya lokal. Kata kunci: Restorasi, identitas, Maluku, sustainabilitas Abstract Globalization and postmodern society have provided a way of thinking and pragmatism aspect that yields diverse impacts. The euphoria of Korea and Japan's cultural wave has shaped the de-westernization that has coopted Indonesian youth. The issue influenced by identity shifting includes the youth of Molluca where this research is conducted. This condition ignited several community groups to preserve their subculture. According to the above background, this study aims to (a) describe the cultural identity of Mollucan artists, (b) describe the challenges in the culture restoration process, and (c) explain the restoration efforts to preserve Mollucan subculture identity by the Mollucan artist. The research used a qualitative method which conducted Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and in-depth-interview with 6 Mollucan artists and observation. In the analysis process, we strengthened the secondary data including their artworks. The results conclude that Mollucan artists perceive that cultural identity is Molucca cultural peculiarities that tend to be static and need to be maintained. They have undertaken cultural restoration through artwork, such as music (lyrics and instruments), photos, and audio-visual. Their challenges are local people's rejection of art based on local identity and the sustainability of artist livelihood in the art ecosystem to keep their ideology of local culture. Abstract

Era digital menuntut masyarakat untuk memiliki kompetensi literasi digital yang kuat agar dapat berinteraksi secara efektif, kritis, dan bertanggung jawab di ruang digital. Literasi digital bukan hanya mencakup keterampilan teknis dalam mengoperasikan perangkat, tetapi juga meliputi kemampuan berpikir kritis, mengevaluasi keandalan informasi, berkomunikasi, dan menciptakan konten yang etis. Artikel ini mengkaji konsep dasar literasi digital, menguraikan dimensi dimensi kunci yang relevan, serta menelaah urgensinya dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, meliputi bidang ekonomi, sosial budaya, dan pendidikan. Pembahasan juga menyoroti tantangan yang muncul, seperti penyebaran misinformasi, isu keamanan data, serta kesenjangan digital yang masih membatasi akses dan partisipasi sebagian masyarakat. Dalam rangka menjawab tantangan tersebut, artikel ini menghadirkan contoh kasus nyata penerapan literasi digital di masyarakat melalui siaran radio, yang berfungsi sebagai media edukasi sekaligus sarana pemberdayaan publik. Pendekatan ini menunjukkan bahwa literasi digital dapat dijadikan fondasi penting untuk membentuk kewargaan digital yang cerdas, inklusif, dan produktif.
