This study is a classroom action research method conducted in one of the classes in the biology education program for the National student scientific week (PIMNAS) project of biology education Program, Universitas Tidar. The results of the study were analyzed descriptively. The results showed an increase in students motivation and learning outcomes. Students learning motivation on average increased by 10.59% and SCWS on average increased by 33.28%. The results of this study can be an alternative reference for lecturers or educators as an effort to improve student learning motivation so that the learning outcomes obtained can increase. Therefore, the integration of Simas eric with google classroom can enhance students motivation and SCWS Subjects at the biology students.

Abstract

Nudibranch are a mollusk which can be found in all zones of ocean. Further, they are distributed widely from subtropical to tropical areas. The Nudibranch is characterized by lack of a shell and usually have a bright shiny color. Nudibranch has a potency to be used in the medical field because they have chemical compound inside their body. These chemical compound are the result of secondary metabolites from symbiosis with zooxanthellae in nudibranch tissues.  This research aims to study the structure of epidermal tissue of the Phyllidia coelestis collected from Pasir Putih, Situbondo, East Java Indonesia. The results showed that the epithelial structure of the Phyllidia coelestis composed of cuboidal epithelium with vacuoles spread regularly along the mantle layer below the epidermal layer. Gland cells are rarely found in the outer epithelial layer. The foot epidermal layer consisted of simple ciliated columnar epithelial cells, with goblet-shaped mucous secreting glands among the epithelium. Gill tissue structure was composed of cell layers of cuboidal ciliated epithelial cells resting on a basement membrane and connective tissues

Abstract

Efforts to improve students' understanding of science process skills in learning the Animal Development Structure subject are developing a research-based Practicum Manual for the Animal Development Structure course. The purpose of this research is to develop a research-based Practicum Manual for Animal Development Structure courses that are suitable for use as a learning resource and experiment in the Animal Development Structure course. The development of laboratory engineering modules uses the ADDIE development model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). This research is a development research and uses questionnaire and test instruments. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and the results were analyzed using the Gain normality test. Experts in developing teaching materials and materials assess that the lecture modules developed are of good qualifications and are suitable for use. The trial results on a limited scale as well as the lecture module field tests are in good qualifications.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and map patterns of genetic misconceptions in high school biology teachers. This research was conducted in several stages, including the development of diagnostic test instrument with Certainty of Response Index (CRI). The instrument used in measuring misconceptions in this study is a three-tier test diagnostic instrument. There are 20 questions covering Basic Competencies 3.3, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8. The cognitive level of the questions covers C2 to C5 in Bloom Taxonomy. The validator's assessment shows that the instrument is suitable for data collection. The results of data collection indicate that the topics identified as having misconceptions among high school teachers are quite high (above 50%), among others: (1) The relationship between DNA, genes, and chromosomes; (2) Chromosome structure of eukaryotic cells; (3) The process of protein synthesis (transcription, translation, and genetic code); (4) Mendel Law 1; (5) Mendel Law 2; (6) Crossing-Over, Sex-Linkage, and Non-Disjunction; and (7) Causes of Mutations. Apart from misconception data, this study also reveals the experiences of teachers in conducting Biology teaching and learning activities, especially related to Genetics in high school.

Abstract

The exploration of macrozoobenthos diversity as a bioindicator parameter in the Bolong river, Magelang has not been widely carried out. This study aims to determine the water quality of the Bolong river based on macrozoobenthos Bioindicator parameters. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The water quality test is measured based on the level of macrozoobenthos diversity according to the Shannon-Wienner diversity index. The purposive sampling method is used to determine 5 stations for sample collection. The intake of macrozoobenthos is done by using a Surber net and a tray at the bottom of river waters. Moreover, sampling is carried out with three repetitions. The data is analyzed using a diversity index, uniformity index, and dominance index to determine the water quality based on the Bioindicator parameters. Based on the result of the study, the macrozoobenthos diversity index is 1.028. Based on this index, the quality of waters in the Bolong river is considered as moderate pollution.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning model conducted via online (e-PjBL) on the concept understanding of evaluation in the biology learning. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test group design is chosen in this study. The research is carried out at the Biology Education Study Program of Universitas Tidar in March - June 2021. A total of 63 college students become the sample in this research which are divided into experimental class and control class. The instrument used to collect the data is in the form of a concept understanding test about the evaluation of biology learning. Then, the results of the data are analyzed by quantitative. The results show that there is no difference in the use of online Project-Based Learning models on the concept understanding of evaluation in biology learning. This is indicated by the results of hypothesis test which is 0.184 > 0.05. Meanwhile, the average N-Gain in the experimental class is 0.2083 which belongs to the ineffective category. Next, several factors become obstacles to the online Project-Based Learning that causes this learning model to be ineffective.

Abstract

The understanding of students' concepts of SMP Negeri 1 Kandangan on the material of the skeletal system is still low. This study aims to determine the effect of applying Android-based Augmented Reality laboratory coats to students with different academic abilities on understanding the concept of skeletal system material for students of SMP Negeri 1 Kandangan. This research is a quasi-experiment or quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population used in this study were all seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kandangan. In contrast, the samples in this study were class VII A as the control class and class VII B as the experimental class, which would be treated as applying an Augmented Reality Android-based. The sample was determined using a purposive side technique. The ANCOVA test results show a significant difference in student's conceptual understanding of the skeletal system material between the control and the experimental, with a significance value or p of 0.006, which is <0.05. Meanwhile, the follow-up test results showed that the use of android-based Augmented Reality Laboratory Coat learning media significantly differed in understanding the concepts of seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kandangan. So it can be concluded that the android-based Augmented Reality Laboratory Coat affects increasing the understanding of the concepts of students with different academic abilities at SMP Negeri 1 Kandangan as a learning medium on skeletal system material to provide a better visualization effect in observing bony structures in the passive motion system (bones).

Abstract

In the Independent Curriculum, learning planning can be optimally arranged by creating teaching modules. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of feasibility and teacher responses to teaching modules for teachers on problem-based excretory systems and reproductive systems (PBL) materials based on the Independent Curriculum. This research is a Research and development (R&D) with a 4D model, while the stages carried out are: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. In this research, development was carried out to the develop stage. Data collection techniques using interviews and observation. The instruments used were interview sheets, teaching material expert validation, material expert validation, and teacher response questionnaires. The results of the feasibility of the product that has been developed are in the form of teaching modules from the validation of material experts by 92% and the proportion of teaching material experts by 97.6%. The results of the teacher response test obtained results in the open module of 93.7%. Thus it can be concluded that the teaching modules accompanied by problem-based student modules (PBL) that have been developed are suitable for use by teachers to assist the implementation of learning.
