Abstract

Filaggrin, or filaments which combines protein, is one of the important structural protein that works for the development, maintenance, and the formation of the skin as an intact barrier. Filaggrin breakdown products regulate the hydration of the skin; contribute to the acidic pH of the skin, which in turn is essential for the activity of various proteases in the stratum corneum desquamation and lipid synthesis. Filaggrin produced by keratinocytes granular as a major precursor called profilaggrin, encoded by the FLG gene, located in the epidermal differentiation complex on chromosome 1 (1q21 locus). The locus contains a group of genes involved in epidermal differentiation. Filaggrin deficiency has some consequences on the organization and function of epidermal with important implications such as increased risk for atopic disease or a microbial infection. FLG mutation, a gene that encodes filaggrin, has been shown to cause ichthyosis vulgaris, increasing the risk of atopic dermatitis and other atopic diseases. This research examined the FLG gene based bioinformatics approach to search for conserved region of representative mammals that encode coding (m) and non-coding (nc) RNAs. Expected mRNA expression can be used as a diagnostic and therapeutic agent against deficiencies and filaggrin mutations.Key words: filaggrin, FLG, profilaggrin, filaggrin deficiency, bioinformatics.

Abstract

Covid-19 was first identified in Wuhan, China, and known as a disease that can damage the lungs, as well as other organs and system organs such as the heart and the immune system. To date, there is no specific treatment for this disease, however, scientists in China have conducted many clinical studies of cell-based therapies for patients with Covid-19 and other respiratory diseases, especially mesenchymal stem (stromal) cells (MSC), by utilizing MSC-derived conditioned media (CM) or extracellular vesicles and several other cell types. Recent preclinical data from respiratory viral infection models and clinical studies related to the use of MSCs by altering the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, and facilitate the repair of damaged tissue in Covid-19 patients. This research method uses descriptive case study method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of therapy using stem cells or mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in the management of Covid-19. The results suggest that administration of allogeneic MSCs could accelerate the process of tissue repair in the lungs, thus reducing the need for further mesenchymal cell activation. Positive responses in subjects receiving UC-MSC treatment indicated a decrease in inflammatory cytokines, rather than a change in viral load. The high cost of cell therapy makes researchers only able to conduct limited clinical studies on cell therapy for Covid-19 patients.

Abstract

Kasumba turatea (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is a plant that has been used as traditional medicine in South Sulawesi. Themain component of C. tinctorius L. flowers is hydroxysafflor yellow A, which functions as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and platelet aggregation inhibitor. This review highlights pharmacological potential of C. tinctorius L. as an antibacterialagent. The method involves a literature review from various databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. Theresults show that C. tinctorius L. extracts are effective against various pathogenic bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes,Streptococcus iniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. Bioactive compounds like carthamin, phenolics, and flavonoids exhibit significant antibacterial activity. Additionally, C. tinctorius L. extracts also show potential as anthelminticand antioxidant agents. Further research is required to isolate and characterize specific bioactive compounds, followed by in vivo validation and clinical study to confirm their efficacy as well as safety.

Abstract

Abstract

Online gambling has become a serious problem that threatens the younger generation, especially teenagers. "Online gambling has serious psychological impacts, such as stress, depression, and social isolation, and has the potential to trigger criminal acts. Online gambling addiction can damage many aspects of a teen's life, including mental health, social relationships, academic achievement, and financial stability. This research aims to formulate an effective da'wah communication strategy to overcome these problems. This qualitative research is carried out using a case study approach. The results of the study show that a combination of personal, community, and social media approaches is an effective da'wah communication strategy in dealing with online gambling among teenagers. An individual approach through counseling and mentoring can provide emotional and spiritual support to adolescents who are involved in online gambling. The community approach consists of working with religious leaders, community leaders, and educational institutions to create an environment that supports a healthy lifestyle and is free from gambling. Meanwhile, the social media approach can be used to spread positive messages and anti-gambling campaigns more widely. In addition, this research also enriches the understanding of the importance of integration between traditional and modern communication in the context of da'wah. Abstract

This bibliometric study delves into the extensive literature on risk and protective factors for mental health in the modern era, considering the complexities posed by technological advancements, socio-cultural shifts, and globalization. Utilizing bibliometric analysis, we identify clusters of literature, analyze trends over time, and explore potential research avenues. The network visualization reveals six distinct clusters, each representing thematic discussions related to mental health. Trend analysis highlights the evolution of research focus from early concerns to contemporary issues, with COVID-19 emerging as a prominent theme. Density analysis identifies research gaps and potential future topics. The collaboration network among authors suggests opportunities for interdisciplinary research. This analysis offers valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to inform evidence-based strategies for navigating the intricate landscape of mental health in the modern era.
