Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the reproductive  performance of various breeds of Sentul chicken.  The present research was assigned in an experimental model with a completely randomized design (CRD), with 5 breeds of Sentul chicken were created as treatments, namely Abu Sentul chicken = SA; Batu Sentul Chicken=SB; Emas Sentul Chicken=SE; Debu Sentul Chicken=SD; and Geni Sentul Chicken=SG. Each treatment was repeated 5 times with 4 females and 1 male birds each, thus the total number of chickens were 100 females and 25 males with an average initial female weight was 1,336.05 ± 84,99 g and male weight was  2,050.53 ± 121,78 g.  The experiment was conducted for  14 weeks started from 20 week old until 34 week old. Variables measured were spermatozoa production, fertility, and hatchability. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and HSD test. Results showed that various breeds of Sentul chicken had no significant effect (P>0.05) on spermatozoa production, and had significant effect (P<0.05) on fertility and hatchability. It can be concluded that spermatozoa production  of various breeds of Sentul chicken are relatively similar, while fertility and hatchability of Emas chicken was lower than that of Abu Sentul chicken and Batu Sentul Chicken.

Abstract

The research entitled “Identification of Factors Contributed to  Beef Cattle Reproductive Disorders in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency (OKU Timur) of South Sumatra Province in UPSUS SIWAB Program 2018” was done on Semendawai Suku III and Semendawai Timur, OKU Timur regency, South Sumatra on October 10th until November 10th 2018. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors contributed to reproductive disorders of beef cattle, mapping the factors that affect reproductive disorders of beef cattle and generate strategies to improve reproductive performance of beef cattle in OKU Timur Regency. The targets in the study are 40 beef cattle breeders, 2 inseminators and 2 employees of the Local Office of Fisheries and Livestock Services of OKU Timur Regency.The research was done by survey, the method used was qualitative modeling with the Causal Loop Diagram (CLD). The variables observed in the study were variables related to reproductive performance consisted of Body Condition Score (BCS), Calving Interval (CI), Service per Conception (S/C), Conception Rate (CR) and variables related to factors indicated to have contribution to reproductive disorders such as farmer characteristics, resources owned by farmers and resources possessed by inseminators. The results showed that reproductive disorders of beef cattle in OKU Timur Regency included ovarian hypofunction, endometritis, pyometra, systolic ovary, silent heat, vulvitis, vaginitis, mummification and placental retention. The identified factors contributed to reproductive disorders are low quality and availability of feed, low breeders' knowledge, absence of postpartum treatment, limited medical supplies and quantity, unstandard technical implementation of artificial insemination, cross breeding of heifer, insufficient inseminator facilities. Strategies that can be done to improve the reproductive performance of beef cattle is to increase the role of the government in providing superior feed seeds and assisting by Universities; increasing the number of medicalsupplies and facilities, equip inseminator with sufficient facilities, and technical insemination and increasing the intensity of extension services to improve farmers' knowledge and utilization of potential agricultural waste with technology.

Abstract

The application of oxytocin induction to milk production in relation to the performance of kids in dairy goats had been carried out in the "PEGUMAS" dairy goat farmer group Gumelar District, Banyumas. This activity aimed to increase milk production and kid performance through the induction of the hormone oxytocin in dairy goats. The approach method was designed in two stages: the first stage carried out the socialization activities and demonstration of techniques for applying IPTEKS, and the second stage applied hormonal technology in the form of oxytocin hormone induction in dairy goats. The material used was dairy goat parity I aged 1.5 - 2 years allocated into 2 groups of 10 individuals each. Group I was dairy goat experiment not induced with the oxytocin hormone as the control. Group II was dairy goat experiment induced with the oxytocin hormone at a dose of 1 ml (10 IU) intramuscularly before milking. Milk production was measured morning and evening as daily milk production in milliliters (ml). Milk was given to the kid of each parent. The kid's performance was measured based on the daily weight gain of the kid during the study. Overall, the application of science and technology could be adopted by farmers, and oxytocin-induced dairy goat milk production (503.2 ml) was significantly higher (P<0.05) than control (305.4 ml) with an increase of 64.77%, with a positive level of correlation (r = 0.45) and contributed 19.83% to the kids daily body weight gain.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh interaksi antara rasio pengencer ringer laktat-putih telur dan penyimpanan selama 48 jam pada suhu 5 C terhadap motilitas dan abnormalitas spermatozoa ayam kampung. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan pola faktorial 6 x 5 dengan faktor R yaitu rasio pengencer ringer laktat dengan putih telur (r0=kontrol, r1=ringer laktat, r2=ringer laktat 75% + putih telur 25%, r3=ringer laktat 50% + putih telur 50%, r4=ringer laktat 25% + putih telur 75%, dan r5=putih telur) dan faktor T yaitu penyimpanan selama 48 jam pada suhu 5 C (t1=1 jam, t2=12 jam, t3=24 jam, t4=36 jam, t5=48 jam) masing-masing perlakuan diulang empat kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masing-masing faktor memberikan pengaruh terhadap motilitas dan abnormalitas spermatozoa ayam kampung (p<0,05). Hasil menunjukkan motilitas terbaik spermatozoa ayam kampung dihasilkan oleh perlakuan ringer laktat dengan penyimpanan selama 12 jam (82,5%). Selanjutnya, abnormalitas terbaik spermatozoa ayam kampung (8,5%) dihasilkan oleh perlakuan ringer laktat dengan penyimpanan selama satu jam. Persentase abnormalitas spermatozoa dari semua perlakuan menunjukkan kurang dari 20%. Dari hasil penelitian ini maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa spermatozoa ayam kampung yang diencerkan dengan ringer laktat dengan penyimpanan pada suhu 5 C dapat digunakan untuk inseminasi sampai 12 jam.Kata kunci: spermatozoa, ayam kampung, pengencer, ringer laktat, putih telur (Motility and Abnormality of Kampong Rooster Sperm Diluted with Different Kinds of Extenders and Stored at 5 C for 48 Hours)The purpose of this research was to determine the interaction effects between types of extender and storage time on sperm motility and abnormality of kampong rooster. This experiment was implemented following a 6x5 factorial design, in which the ratio between Ringer Lactat and egg albumen i.e. r0= control; r1=ringer lactat; r2=75% ringer lactate+25% egg albumen; r3=50% ringer lactate+50% egg albumen; r4=25% ringer lactate+75% egg albumen, and r5=egg albumen as the first factor and storage time which consisted of t1=1 hour; t2=12 hrs; t3=24 hrs; t4=36 hrs as the second factor. Each of the treatment was replicated four times. Results indicated that the types of extender and storage time had no significant interaction (p>0.05) on the percentage of motility and abnormality of kampong rooster sperm. However, each of the treatment had a significant effect (p<0.05) on the motility and the abnormality of kampong rooster sperm. The highest value of sperm motility (82.5 %) was obtained from a ringer lactat extender. This sperm motility value has a significant difference (p<0.05) from the 5 other types of extender. The lowest value of sperm abnormality (8.5%) was obtained from an hour of storage time. This value has a significant difference (p<0.05) than the 4 other treatments. However the percentage of abnormal sperm from all the treatments is less than 20 percent. It could be concluded that kampong rooster sperm which diluted with ringer lactate stored at 5 0C can still be utilized for Insemination not until 12 hours of stored.Keywords: sperm, kampong rooster, extender, ringer lactatee, egg albumen

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the combination of skim milk diluent and lactate ringer on the motility and fertility of kampung rooster spermatozoa. The material used was fresh chicken spermatozoa from 12 kampung rooster aged 1-1.5 years, 60 commercial laying hens at 90 weeks of age, skim milk, lactate ringer, and destilate water. This study used 2 research designs, Randomized Block Design to test motility and Completely Randomized Design to test fertility with 6 types of treatment. The treatments given were P0 = skim milk; P1=skim milk 20%+lactate ringer 80%; P2=skim milk 60%+lactate ringer 40%; P3=skim milk 40%+lactate ringer 60%; P4=skim milk 20%+lactate ringer 80%; P5 = lactate ringer. The data was analyzed using analysis of variance, then if there was a significant influence or different then a follow up test was carried out for Honest Significant Difference test was carried out. The ANOVA results showed that the combination of skim milk and Ringer's lactate diluent had a significant effect (P<0,05) on motility and no significant effect (P>0,05) on fertility. The research results showed that the highest motility value was in treatment P5= 89,75% and the lowest was in treatment P0= 82%. The highest fertility value was in treatment P0= 62,64% and the lowest was in treatment P2= 29,53%. The conclusion of this study was that Ringer lactate diluent had the highest motility value compared to other treatments, while the overall fertility value for all treatments was the same.

Abstract

Background. The aim of the study was to determine the interaction between types of diluents (Ringer's lactate, skimmed milk, and andromed) and storage time at 5°C on motility, viability, and abnormalities of kampung rooster spermatozoa. Materials and Methods. The research materials used were 7 kampung rooster aged 1-1.5 years as a spermatozoa producer, chicken feed, battery cage and its equipment, spermatozoa storage glass, a set of tools to test the quality of spermatozoa, and 1 ml syringe. Other materials are fresh spermatozoa from 7 free-range kampung rooster, skim milk, lactated Ringer, andromed, distilled water, microscopes, dropper pipettes, object glass, cover glass, cement box, thoma chamber, hematocrit pipette, 3% NaCl solution, eosin negrosin solution, refrigerator, and microtube. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with a factorial pattern of 2 factors: the P factor, namely the kind of diluent and the W factor, the time of storage at 5°C through 3 treatments. There were 3 replications in each treatment so that there were 27 experimental units with each treatment consisting of 3 different times. Results. The results showed that the interaction between different kinds of diluent treatments and storage time had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the viability of kampung rooster spermatozoa, while the interaction between treatments of types of diluents and storage time on motility and abnormalities of kampung rooster spermatozoa had no significant effect (P>0.05). ANOVA results had a very significant effect on the type of diluent (P<0.01) on motility, while the abnormal effect was not significant (P>0.05). Storage time had a significant (P<0.05) effect on abnormalities and had no significant (P>0.05) effect on motility. The results showed that the best motility of free-range kampung rooster spermatozoa was produced by Ringer's lactate diluent with storage for 10 minutes (92%). The best viability of kampung rooster spermatozoa was produced by andromed diluent with storage for 370 minutes (96.5%). Furthermore, the lowest abnormality of kampung rooster spermatozoa was produced by skim milk diluent with storage for 190 minutes (8.5%).

Abstract

Background. This research aimed to find out the effect of prolification levels on hematological profile in Batur sheep which includes erythrocyte, leukocytes, and hemoglobin levels. Materials and methods. The research material used 20 ewes of batur sheep with a minimum parity in 2 times and an average age of 3 years, then they were grouped into two groups of 10 each. The first change is low prolification (P1) with JAS = 1 and the second change is high prolification (P2) with JAS records ≥ 2. Grouping is done based on the results of interviews with breeders related to their reproductive history. Blood sampling of 1-2 ml through the jugular vein and poured into the EDTA vacuum tube then stored in the ice box to prevent plumping and damage of blood cells. Examination of hematological profiles is done using a hematology analyzer. Data is processed by using t-test unequal. Results. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference (P>0.05) from the level of prolification to erythrocyte and hemoglobin counts, but has a significant difference (P<0.05) to the number of leukocytes in Batur sheep. Conclusion. It’s concluded that the levels of erythrocyte and hemoglobin were relatively similar between prolification levels, but leukocytes levels in low prolific were significantly higher than those of high prolific in Batur sheep.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sinkronisasi estrus terhadap produktivitas panen pedet di 20 kecamatan pada Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Sumatera Selatan pada tahun 2024. Data yang diolah berasal dari hasil sensus yang dilakukan oleh Dinas Perikanan dan Peternakan Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu Timur. Program sinkronisasi estrus diharapkan mampu meningkatkan efisiensi reproduksi dan meningkatkan jumlah pedet yang dihasilkan dalam periode tahun 2024. Penelitian  menganalisis tingkat kebuntingan dan kelahiran pedet yang dilahirkan setelah penerapan program dan tingkat keberhasilan sinkronisasi estrus berdasarkan beberapa indikator, seperti  jumlah yang disinkronkan, jumlah induk bunting, dan angka kelahiran pedet. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada jumlah ternak bunting, dan jumlah pedet yang dihasilkan setelah penerapan sinkronisasi estrus, serta hubungan positif antara sinkronisasi estrus dengan tingkat produktivitas ternak sapi potong di wilayah tersebut. Penerapan sinkronisasi estrus menunjukkan hasil yang sangat positif dengan angka kebuntingan mencapai 72,16% dan tingkat kelahiran pedet hingga 85,00% dari total ternak bunting.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the interaction between the addition of egg yolk levels in skim milk (P) diluents and storage time (W) on the motility and abnormalities of kampung rooster spermatozoa. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a factorial pattern of 3 x 3 with a P factor (P0 = skim milk + 0% egg yolk, P1 = skim milk + 10% egg yolk, P2 = skim milk + 20% egg yolk) and a factor W (W1 = 10 minutes, W2 = 40 minutes, W3 = 70 minutes) at room temperature of each treatment was repeated three times. ANOVA test results showed that each of the interactions of the P and W factors had a very significant effect (P<0,01) on spermatozoa motility and the polynomial orthogonal test results showed a highly significant linear effect (P<0,01) on each treatment interaction P and W. The percentage of motility produced by P0W1, P1W1, P1W2, P2W1, and P2W2 treatments is above 50% so it is still suitable for IB use. The best treatment interaction was shown by the interaction of P1 (skim milk + 10% egg yolk) with W1, W2, and W3 on the motility of spermatozoa forming linear lines with the equation y = -0,484x + 82,93 and the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,995. ANOVA test results did not show any significant effect (P> 0.05) on the interaction of P and W on spermatozoa abnormalities and each factor had its own effect. P treatment had a very significant effect (P<0,01) and formed a linear line with the equation Y = 0,009 x + 0,079 with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,915, while the W factor had a significant effect (p <0,05) but had no significant effect (P>0,05) both linearly and quadratically. Abnormalities resulting from all treatments are below 20% making it suitable for insemination. From the results of this research it can be concluded that kampung rooster spermatozoa treated with an additional 10% and 20% egg yolk level stored up to 40 minutes at room temperature are still suitable for insemination.
