Abstract

A research  has been conducted to study the effect of interaction between protein level and synthetic methionine addition in quail ration on growth rate up to 40 days. The method was used experiment with Factorial (3x3) based on CRD. The first factor was protein level (P) : P1 = 22 %, P2 = 24 %, P3 = 26 %. The second factor was methionine addition (M) : M0 = 0,00, M1 = 0,05 %, M2 = 0,10 %. Variance analysis indicated that protein level did not have significant effect (P>0.05) on feed consumption, growth rate, feed conversion, weight and percentage of carcass, but it had significant effect (P≤0.05) on IOFC. The effect of methionine addition was not significant (P> 0.05). Interaction between those treatments did not give significant effect (P>0.05). It can be concluded that the response on 26 % protein level with 0,05 % methionine addition give the highest IOFC (Rp. 342.693) (Animal Production 1(1) : 17-23 (1999). Key Words : Quail, Growing Periode, Protein Level, Synthetis Methionine.

Abstract

Abstract

The research aimed to study the effect of strain and altitude on broiler performance, and to find out suitable strains kept either on low and high altitude. Low altitude was in Purwonegoro North Purwokerto (80 m asl) and high altitude was in Munggangsari Baturaden (755 m asl). The research was carried out since September 5th to December 5th, 1996 using 2x3 Factorial based on Completely Randomized Design. Factor I were land altitude (d) : low (d1) and high (d2). Factor II were broiler strains (g) : CP-707 (g1), AS-101 (g2) and Lohmann (g3). Data obtained were analyzed using F test continued  to Least Significant Difference Test. The research indicated that interaction between altitude and strains significantly affected  feed convertion and income over feed  and doc cost, while strain had significant effect on feed convertion. AS-101 and Lohmann strains  kept on low altitude had the highest final weight. The low altitude gave better feed convertion and income over feed and doc cost, whereas CP-707 strain had the best feed convertion. Abstract

Duck is one of the commodities that contribute to the national livestock production and Central Java is home to the fourth biggest duck population after West Java, South Sulawesi and East Java. The 2019 egg production in Central Java was 36.174 tons or 11.3% of the total egg production nationwide. Accordingly, it is important to investigate the effect of environmental factor, total number and age of ducks on egg production in Central Java. Specifically, this study aimed to observe the effect of region on egg production and feed conversion ratio (FCR) and the total livestock (chicken), age (month), stocking density (ducks/m2), internal housing temperature (oC), and humidity (%) on Hen day production/HDP. A survey engaging purposive random sampling was conducted on the population of duck farming in Central Java especially Tegal, Pemalang and Brebes districts. The data were subjected to General Linear Model (GLM) and a regression-correlation analysis using an SPSS program. The result showed that region significantly affected hen day production (HDP) but did not affect FCR. Housing temperature affected HDP by 14.9% and the higher the temperature, the lower the HDP. Duck age affected HDP by 11.7%, and the older the ducks the lower the egg production. Duck population, stocking density and humidity did not significantly affect egg production. Conclusively, duck egg production (HDP) is significantly affected by temperature inside the housing and the duck age.

Abstract

Stunting remains a serious problem in Indonesia. One of the contributing factors to stunting is the low level of nutritional intake, both in pregnant women and children. Eggs are a nutritious food that is relatively inexpensive, affordable, easy to obtain, and easy to prepare, and is effective in preventing the risk of stunting in young children. Most people in Pekunden village have to buy eggs to consume them. Therefore, through socialization and guidance on cultivating egg-laying native chickens with high vitamin D3 content, it is one of the efforts to reduce stunting cases among the people in Pekunden village, Banyumas district. The community service activities were carried out starting from counseling, feed formulation practice, battery cage making practice, and maintenance. The counseling and practice activities were carried out at the home of one of the residents, Mr. Martono. The counseling session was attended by 19 people, and the feed formulation practice was followed by 12 people, the cage making practice by 11 people, and the cultivation practice by 15 people. A schedule of attendance and management was made for the practice of cultivating native chickens, and the eggs produced were distributed evenly in turn. When the community service was carried out, 30 laying hens (aged 22 weeks) had started producing 2 eggs. After the chickens were 28 weeks old, egg production had reached 14-15 eggs, so all participants in the community service had received eggs evenly. The rest were collected and sold to buy chicken feed.

Abstract

This research aims to assese the effect of probiotics as feed additives in broiler chicken feed kept in open housed on the feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion ratio and percentage of broiler chicken carcasses. The study involved 100 male Cobb strain broiler chickens kept from day old chick until they were culled at 35 days of age. The research design implemented was a completely randomized design featuring 4 treatments and 5 replications, resulting in 20 experimental units. Every experimental unit was made up of 5 broiler chickens. The intervention applied involved adding probiotics, which included P0: Commercial feed (control), P1: Commercial feed + 0.2% Bacillus coagulans Probiotic, P2: Commercial feed + 0.2% Saccharomyces cerevisiae Probiotic, P3: Commercial feed + Mied-strain probiotic comprising both Bacillus coagulans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 0.1% each. The variables measured  consist of feed intake, weight gain (WG) ,feed conversion ratio(FCR) and carcass percentage. Data analysis using analysis of variance. The value of feed consumption values is 640.37±136.89 to 661.92±142.68 grams/head/week with an average of 654.32±142.99 grams/head/week. The range of body weight gain values is 491.03±234.46 to 518.8±236.41 grams/head/week with an average of 502.35±247.72 grams/head/week. The FCR values range from 1,47±0,05 to 1,95±0,15 with an average of 1,75±0,18. The range of carcass percentage results is 62.17% to 68.79% with an average of 65.20%±1.76%. The analysis of variance indicate that incorporating probiotics as a feed additive does not significantly impact (P>0.05) feed intake, weight gain, FCR rate, or carcass yield. The inclusion of probiotics Bacillus coagulans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 0.2% and mixed strains in feed has failed to enhance feed intake, body weight, feed conversion ratio, and carcass percentage of broiler chickens raised in open housed. The provision of probiotics Bacillus coagulans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae as much as 0.2% and mix strain in feed has not been able to improve feed consumption, first of all body weight, FCR and percentage of carcass of broiler chickens raised in open cages.
