Abstract

The main problems faced in managing the Pesawaran forest area are the activities of forest encroachment, illegal logging and mining, and also shifting of boundaries that threaten the function of the forest. This research aims to ensure the design of strategies for community economic empowerment in forest areas so that they can be responsible for forest rehabilitation activities. Gayau Village, Padang Cermin sub-District, Pesawaran Region, Lampung represented as the research location that bordered with the Protection Forest 20 Region. Respondents were determined by purposive sampling method amount of 40 people.  It was the representation of community leaders, village officials, farmer institutions (poktan/Gapoktan), and farmers who carry out agricultural activities around forest areas. The data collection method using a Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) approach. The data analysis method was descriptive qualitative method using SWOT analysis. Based on the analysis results show that strategy should consider the strengthen the community forest management based on Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) farming.  This is in quadrant I potition or in growth conditions.  It means that the appropriate strategy is cpmbining the Strength and Opportunity condition. Then the appropriate strategy is a concentration through horizontal integration of farm diversification. The production of intercropping plants with high economic value is an important alternative. Increasing farm productivity needs through by improving the quality of cultivation with GAP principles. This strategy is included in the growth strategy by expanding community activities and developing information and communication networks in regions that have the same program. Exploration of alternative income growth from non-timber resources requires assistance from capital institutions, the extension institution (state or private) and access to technology.

Abstract

Penggunaan jarak tanam yang terlalu lebar menyebabkan kurang efisien dalam pemanfaatan lahan dan jumlah populasi tanaman menjadi berkurang. Sementara penggunaan jarak tanam yang terlalu rapat akan meyebabkan terjadinya kompetisi yang tinggi dan mengakibatkan produktivitas rendah. Pengaturan kepadatan populasi tanaman dan pengaturan jarak tanam pada tanaman jagung manis dimaksudkan untuk menekan kompetisi antar tanaman dan menjaga produktivitas agar tetap optimal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) menentukan kombinasi jenis jarak tanam dan jumlah benih per lubang terbaik terhadap peningkatan pertumbuhan jagung manis dan (2) menentukan kombinasi jenis jarak tanam dan jumlah benih per lubang terbaik terhadap peningkatan produksi  jagung manis. Perlakuan disusun dengan faktor tunggal yang terdiri atas 4 perlakuan jarak tanam dan jumlah benih per lubang, yaitu (1) jarak tanam tunggal 70 cm x 20 cm dengan satu biji per lubang tanam (J1), (2) jarak tanam tunggal 70 cm x 40 cm dengan dua biji per lubang tanam (J2), (3) jarak tanam jajar legowo 70 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm dengan satu biji per lubang tanam (J3), dan (4) jarak tanam jajar legowo 70 cm x 40 cm x 25 cm dengan dua biji perlubang tanam (J4). Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 5 kali. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis ragam kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (DMRT) pada taraf α = 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan jarak tanam dan jumlah benih per lubang berpengaruh nyata pada tinggi tanaman, luas daun, bobot basah tanaman, panjang tongkol, diameter tongkol, dan bobot tongkol berkelobot jagung manis. Namun tidak berpengaruh nyata pada jumlah daun dan lingkar batang tanaman jagung manis. Penggunaan jarak tanam tunggal 70 cm x 20 cm dengan satu biji per lubang tanam dan jarak tanam jajar legowo 70 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm dengan satu biji per lubang tanam mampu menghasilkan pertumbuhan dan produksi jagung manis yang terbaik, akan tetapi penggunaan jarak tanam jajar legowo 70 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm dengan satu biji per lubang tanam mampu menghasilkan ukuran panjang tongkol yang berukuran sedang (tidak terlalu panjang) namun tetap mampu menghasilkan produktivitas tanaman jagung manis yang tinggi.   Kata kunci: diameter tongkol, jajar legowo, dan kompetisi

Abstract

The level of fertility of paddy fields in Banjarrejo was decreasing, this is indicated by low rice productivity, fertilization response was leveling off, topsoil was shallow, and rice easy lodged. Fertility degradation of paddy fields occurs continuously. Factors that encourage the ongoing process of soil fertility degradation is a concept application of High External Input Agriculture (HEIA) on the cultivation of crops, especially rice. Rice straw can be used as an alternative to increase soil fertility and maintain the health of paddy field. Straw is the main product of rice cultivation in the form of organic fertilizer because its potential reaches 1.5 x grain yield. However, the potential that is available cheaply and easily and Lack of information and knowledge about straw causes many farmers not to utilize straw to the fullest. Straw is still regarded as an obstacle in tillage, where the nest mice, disease sources, and sources of dirt that must be cleaned. Farmers have not used it to be composted because many still do not have the skills to make it. State Polytechnic of Lampung has the role and responsibility to transfer technology that is beneficial to society especially in the case of making straw compost through the program of Community Service. Technical Training Composting of Rice Straw was conducted in Banjarrejo Village, Batanghari District, East Lampung Regency in April-September 2013. The use of straw compost in paddy fields can increase rice production while maintaining sustainable soil health.

Abstract

The multiple cropping system is one of the cultivation systems that is suitable for increasing land productivity, especially those with low fertility levels. The main problem with the intercropping cropping pattern is competition between plants. The correct timing of planting can minimize the negative effects of competition between plants so that it can optimize plant growth and production. The purpose of this study was to determine the best planting time in the intercropping pattern of sweet corn and edamame soybeans. The treatments consisted of 4 types in planting time: edamame soybeans monoculture (T0), edamame soybeans were planted simultaneously with sweet corn (T1), edamame soybeans were planted 7 days before sweet corn (T2), and edamame soybeans were planted 14 days before sweet corn (T3). The results showed that the difference in planting time did not lead to suppress of the growth of edamame soybeans at different planting times with sweet corn in the intercropping system compared to monoculture system. So that we can apply the same planting time between edamame soybeans and sweet corn in intercropping system.Keywords: Ademame, growth, intercropping, optimize, planting time

Abstract

The strategic food resource in Lampung Province is cassava. This study aims to identify the value chain of cassava processed products in Lampung Province. The research method used is a survey, involved 60 SMEs of cassava as respondents. Data analysis uses a value chain analysis approach. The discussion concluded that the main activities on SME value chains consist of input logistics, including procurement of raw materials in the form of fresh cassava from producer farmers, raw/semi-finished materials, and auxiliary materials. The cassava production center in East Lampung is the leading supplier of fresh cassava for the SME. Operation activities including the use of technology and skilled human resources are the key to SME efficiency. SME uses simple technology; the final handling product needs to adopt a market trend.  Output logistics: distribution of products to intermediaries and retail traders through direct delivery. The production of SME needs to improve based on market demand.  Marketing and sales activities involve some SME medium-scale already have good market and distribution networks, but not the small scale. Marketing and distribution of products still rely on traditional market networks. Services activities carried out by industry include accuracy in meeting agreements with partners, including procurement or delivery, and the payment.  Finally, the supporting activities of SME value chains will depend on the ability to identify supplier partners in the procurement of input, and facility needs furthermore will become a node of business cost and profit efficiency.

Abstract

Soybean imports in Indonesia show that national soybean production is still low and efforts are needed to increase production. One way to increase edamame production is the application of Trichoderma sp. and NPK fertilizers. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the application dose of Trichoderma sp. and NPK fertilizers and their combinations on the growth and yield of soybean plants. This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of two factors, namely Trichoderma sp and doses of NPK fertilizer, repeated 3 times so that there were 30 experimental units. The treatment consisted of: factors (a) Trichoderma sp. dose: a0= 0 g/plant; a1= 5 g/plant; a2= 10 g/plant; a3= 15 g/plant; and a4 = 20 g/plant. Factor (b) NPK fertilizer dosage from 2 levels, namely: b1 = 250 kg/ha and b2 = 300 kg/ha. The results of this study are: (1) administration of Trichoderma sp. independently affects the growth observation variable in the vegetative phase of the plant, but does not significantly affect production; (2) NPK fertilizer independently affects plant growth in the vegetative phase and production yields; (3) combination treatment of Trichoderma sp. 15 g/plant and 250 kg/ha of NPK fertilizer gave the highest seed weight per plant, namely 30.95 g; and (4) there is an interaction effect between the Trichoderma sp. treatments. and NPK fertilizer on seed weight per plant.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the dose of fertilizer on the growth and yield of peanut plants and to get the best dose of phonska and urea fertilizers to increase the production of peanut plants. The usefulness of this research is as information material for readers to develop and increase the yield of peanut plants through the use of fertilizers. As well as being able to add scientific references about various doses of fertilizer in the cultivation of peanut plants. The research design used a group randomized block design (RBD) consisting of 4 levels of treatment and 3 replicates, namely: P1 (phonska 300 kg/ha and urea 150 kg/ha); P2 (phonska 225 kg/ha and urea 112.5 kg/ha); P3 (phonska 150 kg/ha and urea 75 kg/ha); and P4 (phonska 75 kg/ha and urea 37.5 kg/ha). There were significant differences in the observation variables of the number of filled pods, wet pod weight, and dry pod weight between treatment 1 (P1), which is a combination of phonska fertilizer dosage of 300 kg/ha and urea fertilizer 150 kg/ha, and treatment 4 (P4), which is a combination of phonska fertilizer 75 kg/ha and urea fertilizer 37.5 kg/ha.
