Abstract

Moringa plants are one of the plants that contain lots of nutrients both minerals and vitamins. This study aims to determine the content of Vitamin C extract of Moringa oleifera Lam extract with different heights in Baubau. Moringa leaves were extracted by maceration using water and Sodium Oxalate (Na2C2O4) and vitamin C levels were analyzed using the UV-Vis Spectrophotometer Method. The results showed that the vitamin C content of Moringa leaves for a height of 20 masl (KP 20) in the coastal area was 0.59%, 50 masl (KM 50) 0.53%, while for an altitude of 296 masl (LBW) was 0.83% . From the data obtained shows that the highest levels of vitamin C are Moringa leaves located at a height of 296 mdl (LBW) compared to areas with low altitude in this case Moringa that grows on the coast (KP 20) and medium height (KM 50). From the results of this study it can be concluded that the vitamin C content of Moringa leaf extract which grows in the low area is 296.40 ppm, medium height 267,12 ppm and for the altitude region is 413.71 ppm.

Abstract

Murbei (Morus alba L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang tumbuh di Indonesia dan  banyak digunakan dalam  pengobatan tradisional. Beberapa khasiat dari murbei kemungkinan  berhubungan  dengan  daya  antioksidannya.  Tujuan  dari  penelitian  ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol daun murbei yang berasal dari Kupang. Daun murbei diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Ekstrak diuji terhadap DPPH sebagai radikal bebas dan diukur pada panjang gelombang 517  nm  dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak etanol daun murbei dari Kupang Nusa Tenggara Timur, memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat  dengan  nilai  IC50   8,35  µg/mL, namun masih  lebih rendah dibandingkan kuersetin sebagai kontrol postif  dengan nilai IC50   0,82  µg/mL. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun murbei dari Kupang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat

Abstract

Carica papaya flowers are widely found in North Maluku, Indonesia, and have potential as a source of phenolic compounds with antioxidant activity. However, information on the effect of boiling on their phytochemical profile and bioactive properties is still limited. This study aimed to compare the phytochemical profile, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts from raw and boiled C. papaya flowers. Fresh flowers were prepared as raw and boiled samples at 90°C for 10 min, then extracted with ethanol. Qualitative phytochemical screening was carried out, total phenolic content was determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu method, and antioxidant activity was evaluated using DPPH and ABTS assays in triplicate. The qualitative phytochemical profile of both extracts showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, steroids, terpenoids, and saponins. Boiled C. papaya flower extract had higher total phenolic content than raw extract, with mean values of 14.42 mg TAE/g and 8.05 mg TAE/g, respectively. Boiled extract also showed stronger antioxidant activity, with lower IC5050​ values in the DPPH assay (197.99 mg/L vs. 289.31 mg/L) and ABTS assay (94.37 mg/L vs. 134.48 mg/L). These results suggest that boiling may enhance the release of phenolic compounds and improve the antioxidant potential of C. papaya flowers. Further studies using compound identification, statistical validation, and in vivo testing are needed to confirm these findings and support their application in functional food development.

Abstract

The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach is a development of STEM learning that integrates elements of art to strengthen students' creativity and conceptual understanding. STEAM-based physics learning is considered to be able to overcome abstract physics characteristics, but its implementation requires an appropriate and comprehensive evaluation system. This study aims to evaluate the learning of art integrated physics in the STEAM approach reviewed from STEM literacy and student creativity. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through literature study and analysis of art project-based physics learning practices. Data was collected from national and international journal articles, reference books, and relevant learning documents. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the evaluation of STEAM-based physics learning is more effective using authentic assessments, such as performance assessments, project assessments, portfolios, and science arts products. The evaluation is able to represent the understanding of physics concepts in a contextual manner and increase STEM literacy and creativity of students. This research is expected to be a reference in the development of a STEAM-based physics learning evaluation model in high schools

Abstract

This study evaluates the mechanical, durability, and carbon sequestration performance of a 1:1 blend of Chlorella vulgaris and Spirulina platensis biomass as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) in concrete for tropical coastal infrastructure. Five replacement levels (0%, 3%, 5%, 7%, and 10% by weight of cement) were tested under ambient tropical conditions (28–32°C, 75–85% RH) reflecting West Sumatra's coastal environment. Compressive and flexural strength, water absorption, chloride penetration resistance, and CO₂ sequestration via thermogravimetric analysis were comprehensively assessed. Results indicate that 5% replacement (MA-5) achieved the optimal balance: 28-day compressive strength of 31.4 MPa (6.4% below control), while demonstrating 12.3% improved chloride resistance and a net carbon sequestration rate of 38.7 kg CO₂/m³ of concrete. Scanning electron microscopy confirmed microalgae cell-wall fragments filling interfacial transition zones, reducing porosity by 11.2% and enhancing matrix densification. The findings demonstrate that microalgae-incorporated concrete at 5% OPC replacement is a technically viable, low-carbon alternative for coastal tropical construction, offering both structural adequacy and environmental benefits. Adoption in Indonesia's green building programs is recommended, with future research needed to validate performance at industrial scale and assess long-term durability under field marine exposure.
