Abstract

Curcuma longa, C. xanthorrhiza, C. heyneana, and Zingiber cassumunar contain high curcuminoid and have relatively the similar yellow color. Therefore, that they are potentially adulterated and difficult to differentiate in the form of powder. Hence, it is necessary to characterize the fingerprints compound profile by a simple and rapid method. This research aims to determine fingerprint compound profile of curcuminoid using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and digital image analysis. The result of the research identified that the fingerprint compound profile of curcuminoid on the four rhizomes was obtained by TLC method using silica gel 60 GF254 as the stationary phase, chloroform:dichloromethane:methanol (13:6:1) as the mobile phase, and observation under UV 254 nm light and citroborate reagent. Thereafter, the digital image analysis was carried out using Image J software according to the gray value and % of RGB (red-green-blue) value. Based on gray value and % of RGB, both Curcuma and Zingiber genera were differentiated through curcumin compound (Rf 0.63), demethoxycurcumin (Rf 0.34), bisdemethoxycurcumin (Rf 0.21). The profile of fingerprint compound on Curcuma longa, C. xanthorrhiza, C. heyneana, and Zingiber cassumunar was differentiated through Rf 0.26; Rf 0.17; and Rf 0.10.

Abstract

Cestrum nocturnum with white flowers has potential as a medicine, so it is possible that yellow, red and purple flowering plants also have bioactivity. Toxicity tests on plants can increase research on new sources of ingredients for food additives, drugs, pesticides, etc., so as to find the prospective economic value of these plants and maintain plant biodiversity. The aims of this research were to determine the differences in the toxicity of terpasan leaves (Cestrum elegans) of yellow, red and purple flowers. Steps of this research were made the simplicial of terpasan leaves, phytochemical screening, and toxicity test using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. The yield of ethanol extract terpasan leaves with yellow, red and purple was 16.58%, 22.06% and 22.14%, respectively. The results of phytochemicals screening of three types terpasan leaves using the third tube method attached contain secondary metabolites of alkaloids and terpenoids. Based on the toxicity test with the BSLT method using a variation of 150; 200; 250; 300 and 350 ppm mortality percentages were 0.77%, 5.71%, 8.64%, 22.38% and 42.3%. The C50 of the red-pressed ethanol extract was 458.00 ppm, the LC50 of the purple-pressed ethanol extract was 180.127 ppm, the LC50 of the yellow-pressed ethanol extract is 30 – 200 ppm. Conclusion:Based on the LC50 value, the ethanolic extract of the yellow and red leaves has activity as a pesticide, because it has an LC50 value of 200 -1000ppm. The ethanolic extract of purple terpasan leaves has antimicrobial activity because it has an LC50 value of 30-200 ppm

Abstract

The concentration of bangle (Zingiber cassumunar) ethyl acetate fraction added in the formulation of the temugiring (Curcuma heyneana) extract cream formulation must be determined precisely since it may affect the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value. This research aims to determine the effect of concentration variations of bangle ethyl acetate fraction on the SPF value of the temugiring extract cream. In this research, temugiring extract and bangle extract were obtained by remaceration employing ethanol, while the bangle ethyl acetate fraction was obtained by fractionation using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, methanol, and water. The bangle ethyl acetate fraction obtained was formulated in cream formulations of temugiring extract formulas 1, 2, and 3 with variations in the concentration of bangle ethyl acetate fraction 2%; 3%; and 4%. Furthermore, the SPF value was conducted using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The results show that bangle ethyl acetate fraction concentration variations produced different SPF values for each cream formula. The SPF value for formulas 1, 2, and 3 was 11.466; 12.122; and 17.266. One Way ANOVA test produced a p-value of 0.037. Thus, it can be concluded that the concentration of the bangle ethyl acetate fraction would affect the SPF value in the cream temugiring extract.

Abstract

The flavonoids derived from Eugenia polyantha leaves were characterized by rapid and low cost approach. The aim of this research is to characterize secondary metabolite profile of flavonoids in the n-butanol fraction of E. polyantha using thin layer chromatography and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry. The n-butanol fraction was separated by using silica gel 60 GF254 as the stationary phase; chloroform: ethanol: glacial acetic acid (9.4: 0.5: 0.1) as the mobile phase; and visualized by using UV light 366 nm. Five isolates were obtained from the separation, but there were only three isolates (Rf 0.26; 0.44; 0.77) respectively identified as flavonoid compounds. The characterization of the isolates by UV-Vis spectrophotometry showing that the ranges of λmax were 250-280 nm (band II) and 310-360 nm (band I), which indicate the existence of flavone compounds. Further characterization of the three isolate using the AlCl3 5%/HCl 6 M solution showed that the λmax shifted from band I to the higher wavelength (bathochromic). The λmax shift indicated the existences of ketone at C-4, hydroxyl group at C-5, and orthodihydroxyl at ring B. According to the maximum wavelength, the result of the characterization showed that the flavonoid compounds of the n-butanol were 5,3’,4’-trihydroxyflavone3-C-glycoside or 5,4’,5’-trihydroxyflavone-3-C-glycoside; 5,6,3’,4’-tetrahydroxyflavone or 5,6,4’,5’-tetrahydroxyflavone; and 5,3’,4’-trihydroxyflavone or 5,4’,5’-trihydroxyflavone.

Abstract

Temugiring (Curcuma heyneana) mengandung senyawa flavonoid dan kurkumin yang berpotensi sebagai tabir surya, sehingga konsentrasi ekstrak yang ditambahkan dalam formulasi sediaan krim harus ditentukan secara tepat karena akan berpengaruh terhadap mutu fisik dan nilai Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi ekstrak temugiring terhadap mutu fisik dan nilai SPF krim. Dalam penelitian ini, ekstrak temugiring diperoleh dari metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%, kemudian diformulasikan dalam sediaan krim dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak 5%; 7,5%; dan 10%. Selanjutnya, penentuan nilai SPF dilakukan dengan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak temugiring menyebabkan nilai SPF yang berbeda pada setiap formula. Nilai SPF formula 1, 2, dan 3 adalah 3,307±0,11; 3,497±0,18; 4,966±0,24. Uji One Way Anova menghasilkan p-value 0,05.  Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa konsentrasi fraksi etil asetat bangle berpengaruh terhadap nilai SPFnya.Kata Kunci: Curcuma heyneana, krim, sun protection factor, temugiring

Abstract

Pengolahan limbah biji kurma sangat penting untuk menciptakan nilai biji kurma sebelum dibuang sebagai limbah. Biji kurma mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan dan salah satu senyawa yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan adalah flavonoid. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan infusa serbuk simplisia biji kurma dengan metode DPPH dan menentukkan kadar flavonoid infusa biji kurma. Metode penelitian ini meliputi pembuatan serbuk simplisia biji kurma, infundasi serbuk simplisia biji kurma, uji senyawa flavonoid, penentuan aktivitas antioksidan infusa serbuk simplisia biji kurma, dan penentuan kadar flavonoid infusa biji kurma menggunakan standar senyawa rutin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa serbuk simplisia biji kurma berwarna coklat, infusa serbuk simplisia biji kurma berwarna coklat jernih, dan infusa serbuk simplisia biji kurma mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 872,74 ± 18,77 ppm, dan memiliki kandungan senyawa flavonoid. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu infusa serbuk simplisia biji kurma termasuk kategori antioksidan lemah dengan kadar flavonoid 4,92 x 10-4 mgRE/g serbuk.

Abstract

Pengolahan limbah biji kurma sangat penting untuk meningkatkan nilai jual biji kurma sebelum dibuang sebagai limbah. Biji kurma mengandung senyawa asam oleat dan steroid yang diketahui mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui formulasi, mutu fisik dan kimia, serta aktivitas antibakteri sabun kertas (paper soap) minyak biji kurma. Metode penelitian ini meliputi pembuatan serbuk simplisia, ekstraksi minyak biji kurma dengan metode soxhletasi, skrining fitokimia, dan formulasi paper soap dengan kandungan minyak biji kurma yang berbeda, yaitu F1 (3,75%); F2 (7,5%); dan F3 (15%). Selanjutnya, dilakukan evaluasi mutu fisik dan kimia serta uji aktivitas antibakteri dengan metode sumuran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mutu fisik paper soap minyak biji kurma adalah berwarna kuning muda, berukuran 4x4 cm, berbau lemon, homogen, dan keseragaman bobot F1, F2, dan F3 secara berurutan adalah 0,321 g; 0,338 g; 0,362 g. Nilai pH F1, F2, dan F3 adalah 9,83–10,03. Ketiga formula mempunyai asam lemak bebas <1%, kadar air <10%, dan rata-rata zona hambat formula 1, 2, dan 3 secara berurutan adalah 8,66±1,90 mm; 9,33±1,01 mm; 8,75±2,25 mm. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah mutu kimia ketiga formula sesuai SNI 2588-2017 dan SNI 3532-2016, serta aktivitas antibakterinya termasuk dalam kategori sedang.

Abstract

People, particularly women with dry skin issues, want to apply sunscreen and skincare products to moisturize their skin. As a matter of fact, a formulation, that functions to moisturize is a soothing gel. A soothing gel formulation requires an active substance with a high water content, which can be obtained from fruits such as cucumbers and yellow watermelons. This study aimed to explore the potential of a soothing gel containing yellow watermelon and cucumber extract as a sunscreen, based on its Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value. Moreover, in this study, the yellow watermelon and cucumber extracts were processed using a juicer. Subsequently, a flavonoid test was conducted on the extract combination. The combination of yellow watermelon and cucumber extracts was formulated into a soothing gel at concentrations of 70%, 80%, and 90%. Furthermore, the SPF value of the soothing gel was determined in vitro using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The results of this study showed that yellow watermelon and cucumber extracts, as well as their combination, contained flavonoid compounds. The highest SPF value, namely that of the soothing gel formula, was 80%. The SPF value of soothing gel formula 70%, 80%, and 90% respectively, was 3.5118±0.1969; 4.3771±0.4184; and 3.2274±0.2397. Hence, it can be concluded that, based on the SPF value, the combination of yellow watermelon and cucumber extracts in the soothing gel has potential as a sunscreen with medium protection. Abstract

Degenerative diseases can be prevented by natural antioxidants in plant. Yellow tabebuia flower is natural antioxidants. Plant extracts can develope into green synthesis nanoparticle to increase the effectiveness as medicinal materials. This research aims to determine the characteristics of yellow tabebuia flower extract nanoparticles and bioactivity as antioxidants. The methods included preparation and extraction of simplisia using ethanol solvent by maceration and sonication. The extract was determined flavonoid and phenol content by colorimetric method and antioxidant activity by DPPH method. The extract was also made into nano particles by ionic gelation method, with variations addition of tween 80 as much as 0.5, 0.75 and 1 ml. The results of this research are extract has a yield 13.09%, contains flavonoids, tannins, phenolics, alkaloids, saponins and terpenoids. The value of total flavonoid content is 0.59%, total phenolic content is 3.11% and antioxidant activity test has IC50 value of 165.26. The use ionic gelation method can reduce particle size. Three formulas that made the variation surfactant addition has a particle size of 47-283 nm, in addition tween80 1 ml has the smallest particle size of 47 nm with a zeta potential value of 39.3 mV. Abstract

Gabungan Kelompok Tani Bantur Berkah Mandiri (BBM) merupakan mitra komunitas petani yang ingin mengembangkan Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) sebagai bahan pengembangan tanaman organik di Desa Bantur dan sekitarnya. Teknologi pengembangan POC ini adalah penerapan teknik mikrobiologi menggunakan biodekomposer PGPR (Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria) yang memanfaatkan bonggol pisang, limbah ternak, sisa sayuran yang tersedia sebagai bahan pupuk organik cair terutama dalam optimasi formulasi POC dan standarisasinya. Program pendampingan Poltekkes Putra Indonesia Malang ini bertujuan melakukan edukasi dan pendampingan mitra dalam standarisasi dan optimasi formulasi POC. Urgensinya untuk meningkatkan level keberdayaan mitra dari aspek produksi dan manajemen. Metode pendekatannya menggunakan metode ABCD (Asset Based Community Development), yaitu dengan cara membantu mitra untuk mengembangkan potensi yang sudah ada dengan target memberikan hasil peningkatan produksi dan pendapatan serta bertambahnya kebutuhan tenaga kerja di wilayah sekitar. Tahapan yang sistematis ini diharapkan dapat menciptakan produk POC yang lebih efektif, bernilai jual tinggi, dan mendukung pertanian dan ketahanan pangan disekitarnya. Permasalahan yang dihadapi Mitra pada aspek produksi, manajemen dan pemasaran dalam optimasi dan standarisasi POC ini akan meningkatkan kualitas pertanian dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan petani serta keberlanjutan lingkungan. Target luaran, pada aspek produksi dapat memahami optimasi dan standarisasi pupuk organik, sedangkan aspek manajemen dapat meningkatkan keterampilan mitra  yang merupakan kelompok masyarakat produktif dalam pengolahan pupuk organik cair, dan aspek pemasaran dapat memasarkan produk pupuk organik atau bahkan sebagai unit usaha yang bekerjasama dengan Pemerintah setempat dan instansi terkait untuk memasok pengadaan pupuk organik cair dalam produksi pangan sehat yang mendukung Ketahanan Pangan Nasional.
