Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the improvement and differences in students' scientific literacy abilities taught using the Problem Based Learning and the Discovery Learning model assisted by animated video media on chemical equilibrium material. The sampling technique was carried out using purposive sampling, resulting in class XI IPA 5, totaling 34 students, as experimental class I and XI IPA 6, totaling 36 students, as experimental class II. In learning, the test instrument uses cognitive levels C4 to C6. The results of students' scientific literacy abilities taught using the Problem Based Learning model have increased with an average value from 47.05 to 82.94, as well as the results of students' scientific literacy abilities taught using the Discovery Learning model, namely with an average value of 44.17 to 79.94. Through hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T-Test with the prerequisites of normality and homogeneity, a Sig (2-Tailed) value of 0.024 was obtained, so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted. The results of this research show that there are differences in the scientific literacy abilities of students taught using the Problem Based Learning and the Discovery Learning model assisted by animated video media on chemical equilibrium material.

Abstract

Tinuktuk is considered nutritious and able to boost immunity. A local product based on natural resources and spices in Indonesia. The different concentrations of the main ingredients used in the production of tinuktuk produce good quality and nutrition for safe, healthy, and nutritious consumption. So far, there is no optimum composition of tinuktuk and also quality analysis during the storage period in the frozen temperature of tinuktuk, so this research is necessary. In this research, the roasting method is used for the drying process of making tinuktuk. The roasting process is one of the isothermal drying processes. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality characteristics of tinuktuk during storage at -10°C for 56 days which is analyzed every 7 days. Tinuktuk characteristic parameters include pH, moisture content, ash content, and microbial analysis. The results of the research that have been carried out are 30%: 70% and 40%: 60%, which have similarities with the results of the analysis of tinuktuk that has been marketed, namely the 30%: 70% ratio, wherein the 30%: 70% ratio the pH analysis decreases steadily from 6.3 to 5.9. Ash content analysis resulted in a stable decrease from 7% to 5%. Microbial analysis with ALT testing resulted in stable data during storage at 2.5 x 102 colonies/g. Antioxidant analysis of 30%:70% ratio resulted in antioxidant IC50 data of 93, 4 ppm to 183.6 ppm.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a difference between the learning outcomes of students taught with Problem Based Learning and Discovery Learning models in terms of higher order thinking skills (HOTS) on chemical equilibrium material. The study population was all students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 11 Medan. The sample in this study consisted of 2 experimental classes. The instrument used in the study was a test instrument. Before hypothesis testing, normality test and homogeneity test were conducted first. In the normality and homogeneity test in each class sample, the results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. Furthermore, the N-Gain test was carried out, the results of data processing showed that the increase in learning outcomes in experimental class I was in the medium category, and in experimental class II was in the high category. Based on the results of data processing with the Independent Sample T-Test test for hypothesis testing, the Sig value is obtained. = 0.017 at the 5% significance level (α = 0.05). Because the value of Sig. α (0.05), then in this study the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Discovery learning and Learning Cycle 5E learning models and to see the differences in academic performance from the two models. The method used is experimental. The population in this study were students of class XI Science at SMAN 17 Medan and the samples were class XI Science 4 as experimental class 1 and XI Science 3 as experimental class 2. The research results show that the Discovery Learning model is effective in improving academic performance as evidenced by the average N-gain value of 0.759 in the high category, the Learning Cycle 5E model is effective in academic performance as evidenced by the average N-gain value of 0.751 with high category and there is a significant difference in the academic performance of students who are taught using the Discovery Learning and Learning Cycle 5E models integrated with virtual labs on acid-base material as proven by carrying out by Independent Sample T-test so the output can obtained value of sig is 0.011<0.05.

Abstract

Misconception or conceptual errors in learning are errors in understanding a meaning. This descriptive research aims to analyze the level of students' misconceptions on the reaction rate material and analyzing misconceptions on each concept in the reaction rate material. The reseach method used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The sample in this research are 30 students of Grade XI students of SMAN 2 Percut Sei Tuan. The instrument used in this research is three-tier multiple-choice diagnostic test, with total 20 questions.. The results showed that the average of students’ misconception of SMAN 2 Percut Sei Tuan who experience misconception is 61,6%. Students’ misconception occurs in each concepts of reaction rate material. Percentages of students' misconceptions on reaction rate and reaction rate expressions have percentage 54.25%, in concept reaction order have percentage 62.87%, in concept factors affecting reaction rate have percentage 60.58%, in concept collision theory have percentage 73.70%, and in concept reaction rate equation have percentage 52.58%.
