Abstract

Abstract

Malaria is a health problem in Asia, especially in Indonesia. Malaria is an infectious disease, through the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito. Data sourced from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, there are 261,671 cases of malaria in Indonesia, one hundred of which claimed human lives. There are 28% in Indonesia living in malaria endemic areas for low, medium and highlands. Medical examination takes a long time, one example for examination of malaria parasites is with a microscope. The examination microscope has a hundred fields of view. Digital image processing is an image manipulation process to get better image results. The stages begin with ROI (Region of Interest), image improvement, segmentation with Otsu thresholding, extraction of shape and texture features and classification using LVQ. Digital image processing can help in the medical field, especially for disease identification.

Abstract

Security in the communication of IoT devices is a critical concern in seaweed cultivation monitoring systems, particularly when operating over open networks. This study presents the design and implementation of an IoT-based monitoring system for seaweed cultivation, incorporating data transmission protection on the ESP32 device through the use of JSON Web Token (JWT). The system monitors key parameters influencing seaweed growth—such as temperature, salinity, pH, and turbidity—and transmits this data to a server via HTTP/HTTPS protocols. JWT is employed for authentication and authorization, ensuring that only legitimate devices are permitted to send data to the server. The research methodology encompasses requirement analysis, system architecture design, hardware and software implementation, followed by functionality, security, and performance testing. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system successfully acquires sensor data and transmits it in real time to the server, while effectively rejecting unauthorized attempts lacking valid tokens. The application of JWT significantly enhances communication security with minimal impact on ESP32 performance. Overall, the proposed IoT-based Seaweed Cultivation Monitoring System with JWT protection provides an effective solution for safeguarding data integrity and authenticity in seaweed farming applications.

Abstract

Determining the best graduating students at SMA Negeri 9 Medan has been carried out without an automated system and tends to focus more on academic aspects, potentially leading to subjectivity, inefficiency, and errors in the assessment process. Furthermore, non-academic criteria have not been optimally integrated in the decision-making process. Therefore, this study aims to design and develop a decision support system that can determine the best graduating students objectively, structured, and transparently using SAW. The SAW method is used to process student data based on a number of predetermined academic and non-academic criteria with certain weights. The system was developed using the PHP programming language with a MySQL database. The data used in this study were student assessment data at SMA Negeri 9 Medan for the 2024 academic year. The results of the system's calculations were compared with manual calculations to test the system's accuracy. The trial results showed that the implemented decision support system produced the same preference value as the manual calculation, namely 0.95 for students with the best predicate. The system's accuracy level reached 100%, indicating that the system is capable of implementing the SAW method appropriately. Thus, this system can help schools determine which students graduate with the best grades more efficiently, accurately, and responsibly.
