Abstract

Guidance and counseling in Indonesia has been around since the 1970s. Despite all the obstacles in his journey, Guidance and counseling continue to develop. Counselor Profession has taken a role in optimizing the potential of individuals who receive their services. Along with the entry of globalization, the role of the counselor is increasingly central, the problems faced by the counselors are increasingly diverse. Governments through professional organizations have developed a standardized guide to meet the inherent expectations of the Counselor profession. Through this article the author tries to give an overview of the responsibilities that must be met by the counselor in various settings as an effort to maintain and improve the lives of effective counselee.

Abstract

This study investigated the context of career readiness for Muslim students from low-income families and its’ correlation among thinking styles and self-efficacy. There were 302 participants consisted of 85 males (28%) and 217 females (78%) with an average age of 20.03 years. The analysis results showed no significant correlation between students' thinking styles based on age and place of residence. However, the difference in age correlated to students thinking styles. There was also a correlation between gender and age toward students' self-efficacy with social persuasion. The analysis showed a significant positive correlation between career readiness and the legislative, liberal, hierarchical, global, executive, local, anarchic, oligarchic, and internal conservative, oligopoly, and internal. Furthermore, significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and career readiness. The higher the students’ career readiness will be the higher their self-efficacy mastery experience. The findings further confirmed the significance of different thinking styles, self-efficacy, and the context of career readiness for Muslim students from low-income families.

Abstract

Negative labelling defined as giving name to a person or group based on the deficiencies or advantages they have. Labeling often poses negative things into a person when it did not give appropriately. Self-concept related to self-like views, self-evaluation results and self-expectations and these become the shaping factor of self-concept. When child with learning disability labeled as "the slacker" or "the stupid" it is giving negative impact to his or her self-concept. Understanding the harmful of negative labelling could be a preventive strategy to avoiding negative labelling toward child with learning disability.
