Abstract

The Democratic System of Pancasila that has been chosen by Indonesian founders give several consequences. The state needs to be responsible for regulating equality policies for every citizen. Not only about the issue of equitable economic resources but also equal access to information. In the context of the country, democracy and markets equal access to information can be understood as information technology paradigm. This paradigm means that all systems that use by technology information are defined by networking sense, which is an empowering citizen to influence a wide variety of processes. Through the observation and depth of methods, this research examines the role of the Yogyakarta Provincial Education and Sports Agency for educating students and the equitable distribution of information technology. The city was chosen as a research umbrella carried out by Media Literacy Activists Network in 2017. As result of this research shows that literacy education efforts were carried out by Indonesia Broadcasting Commision of Yogyakarta Special Region were still struggling in a protectionist perspective, while The Institute of Government Education Communication Technology in Yogyakarta Province is using creative media approach as an effort to use technology as part of empowerment.

Abstract

Pan and Kosicki's analysis consists of four structures: syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical. Each of these structures provides a detailed analysis of the focus of the media being studied. The data collection techniques in this research use primary data from online news and secondary data from books and journals related to framing. The results of this research reveal differences in the coverage between the two national media, Detik.com and Suara.com. It shows that each news outlet presents a different perspective on the Anies-Cak Imin coalition of change, with each applying different framing techniques based on the structures outlined by Pan and Kosicki. Abstract

This research explores the reception of the Malaysian film "Mentega Terbang" among students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). The film has sparked controversy in Malaysia due to its portrayal of elements perceived to be insensitive to Islam, the predominant religion in the country. Using Stuart Hall's encoding/decoding model as a research framework, this study investigates how Indonesian students interpret and engage with the film's themes and controversies. The methodology employed in this research involves qualitative analysis of audience reception. Data was gathered through focus group discussions and individual interviews conducted with UMY students. The findings reveal diverse interpretations among Indonesian students regarding the portrayal of questioning religion during childhood as a common and acceptable theme. Many students argue that such themes should not necessarily provoke controversy but rather reflect everyday experiences and discussions. Overall, this study contributes to understanding how media messages, particularly those involving sensitive cultural and religious themes, are received and interpreted by different audience groups. It underscores the variability in audience perceptions and highlights the importance of context and cultural background in shaping interpretations of media content.
