Abstract

Abstract

Background: Untreated hyperuricemia can develop into uric acid-related diseases, such as gout arthritis. Research indicates that 35% of the population in the North Sulawesi Province has elevated uric acid levels. Data from the Social Security Administrative Body for Health (BPJS Kesehatan) in 2022 showed that the number of gout arthritis cases in this province reached 8,781 cases, with Manado City ranked second. This figure increased compared to previous years. According to healthcare procedures, the management of gout arthritis begins at the Primary Health Care (FKTP) such as community health centers and private practice doctors. However, in practice, there are still differences in the approach to gout arthritis management among family physicians, influenced by factors such as their behavior toward disease management. Aim: To assess the overview of behavior (knowledge, attitudes, and practice) of family physicians in the management of gout arthritis in Manado City. Methods: This study is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional research design. Results: The level of knowledge of family physicians in Manado City is considered good by 86% of the respondents, and 14% of the respondents categorized as sufficient The attitude of family physicians was rated as good by 98% of the respondents, and their practice rated as good by 98% of the respondents. Conclusion: The level of behavior of family physicians in the management of gout arthritis in Manado City is considered good. Keywords: behavior; family physicians; gout arthritis

Abstract

Background: Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) can be prevented by promoting the CERDIK behavior in daily life. The CERDIK behavior consists of several key actions: regular health check-ups, avoiding cigarette smoke, engaging in physical activity, maintaining a balanced diet, getting adequate rest, and managing stress. The aim of this activity was to provide health education focused on the prevention of NCDs, targeting students of SMAN 6 Kota Manado. Adolescents were chosen as the primary audience to raise early awareness and encourage the implementation of CERDIK behavior from a young age. Methods: This activity was conducted on Friday, September 6, 2024, starting at 08:00 AM until completion. Health education was delivered by Dr. Ronald I. Ottay, M.Kes, and a team of master's students from the public health sciences program. The session lasted for two hours and concluded with a friendly gathering. A total of 60 students and teachers participated in the event. Pre- and post-educational assessments were conducted to measure changes in knowledge levels among the participants. Results: The results of this activity showed that the total knowledge score increased from 625 before the session to 670 afterward, indicating a gain of 45 points. The average score increased from 35.2 to 38.7, showing a 3.5-point improvement. This indicates a noticeable difference in knowledge scores before and after the health education session. Conclusion: This community service activity demonstrated that the educational intervention had a positive impact on students' knowledge regarding the prevention of non-communicable diseases through the implementation of CERDIK behavior at SMAN 6 Manado.

Abstract

Vaccination stands as the sole preventive measure against the transmission of COVID-19. The vaccination rollout in Indonesia comprises three stages: primary vaccinations 1 and 2, along with an additional 3rd or booster vaccination. However, certain regions still exhibit a stage 2 vaccination coverage below 70%. Various factors, including age and gender, impact the acceptance of the Covid-19 vaccine. The objective of this study was to scrutinize the association between age, gender, and the acceptance of Covid-19 vaccination in the jurisdiction of the Kawangkoan Barat Public Health Center. Conducted between February and July 2022, this correlational research involved 400 respondents aged 18 and above. The study variables encompassed age, gender, and vaccination acceptance, assessed through a fill-in sheet. Bivariate data analysis employed the chi-square test, revealing a significant correlation between age and vaccination acceptance. The prevalence ratio (PR) of 1.504 indicated that individuals aged 18-59 years were 1.504 times more likely to have incomplete vaccinations. However, gender did not exhibit a significant correlation with vaccination acceptance. In conclusion, age emerges as a correlated factor influencing the acceptance of Covid-19 vaccination
