Abstract

Problems in the class indicate students are less active in learning. Students are more dominant in receiving one-way material. The low desire of students in learning participation in the form of asking, answering, or presenting. The outdoor study is the chosen learning method to overcome these problems. The outdoor study is useful for student knowledge, learning, and student motivation. This study aims to determine the effect of outdoor study on the activeness of high school geography students. This research is included in a quantitative methodology with a type of quasi experiment. The researcher determined purposely XI IIS 1 as the experimental class and XI IIS 2 as the control class. Research in Muhammadiyah 1 Babat High School, Lamongan Regency even semester 2015/2016 academic year. The data in this research were analyzed using descriptive quantitative with percentage. The results show that the application of outdoor study provides a change in student active; this can be seen from the category of the active per student in the experimental class, none of them get less active. Abstract

Geography teacher candidates need to build a pro-environmental attitude to solve critical land issues through the construction of appropriate research-based solutions. This study aimed to determine the effect of research-based learning conservation on the pro-environmental attitudes of geography teacher candidates toward the preservation of Meru Betiri National Park. The study applied an experimental research design with one group pre-test and post-test. Students of the Department of Geography Education in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, at the University of Jember were selected as research subjects using purposive sampling. A total of 41 students currently enrolled in environmental geography courses took part in this study. The data on pro-environmental attitudes were collected using a 21-item Likert survey with scales: 1 (strongly disagree), 2 (disagree), 3 (agree), and 4 (strongly agree). The data were tested for normality and homogeneity using a t-test. The results implementation of conservation-based learning had a significant effect on the students’ pro-environmental attitudes on critical land in Meru Betiri National Park (p 0.000). Research-based learning has an impact on student’s scientific abilities and actions. Future research on conservation-based learning for sustainable conservation programs is recommended to involve forest farmers combine ecological and economic aspects of degraded lands.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of learning outcomes geography by applying Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on the concept of environmental pollution. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Sukodono, Lumajang. The method used in this study is the method Classroom Action Research (CAR), PTK is implemented as an effort to overcome problems that arise in certain classes. This method is done with four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The four stages are cycles that take place repeatedly and carried out with the same steps and focused on learning Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Based on the results research that has been done shows that student learning outcomes increased. This increase can be seen through the cycle have been done. Abstract

Geography Learning in XI Social Science Classes still dominated by conventional teaching methods that make students become unmotivated in learning. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a model of learning that can foster activity and student’s level of knowledge. The Group Investigation Learning model (GI) has several advantages. Advantages of Group Investigation Learning model among others: (1) increase the ability to think critically, (2) creating a learning environment that is democratic, (3) enhance the development of soft skills, (4) may improve social solidarity, dan (5) improve student’s level of knowledge to learn. The purpose of this study to analyze the influence of group investigation learning model towards the level of mangrove knowledge of students in senior high school. The type of research is the quasi-experimental study with non equivalent control group posttest only design. The subject of the study consisted of class XI Social Science are selected based on the score of Middle Semester Exam (UTS) 2 on 2014-2015 teachings year that had an average of almost the same (homogeneous). The results of this study are showed significant influence of GI models on Geography level of knowledge to learn of students. It was based on the results of the Independent Sample T-Test analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 level. P-level value is smaller than 0.05 (p <0.05). The average score student’s level of knowledge to learn geography experimental class is higher with a score of 208, while the control class w ith a score of 177. That's because the investigations conducted the mangrove forest, teachers simply deliver early learning problems, frequent interaction between students during learning, and students investigate different sub-themes.
