Abstract

Kegiatan pemuliaan tanaman untuk merakit varietas hibrida dimulai dengan koleksi plasma nutfah melalui introduksi ataupun varietas lokal, kemudian dilakukan kegiatan penggaluran hingga diperoleh galur murni. Karakterisasi merupakan salah satu tahap yang harus dilakukan dari kegiatan pemuliaan tanaman guna  merakit varietas hibrida. Generasi kedua merupakan generasi penting untuk menentukan idiotipe tanaman yang diharapkan oleh pemulia. Percobaan ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi karakter fenotipik dan karakter agronomis yang tampak pada galur semangka generasi kedua. Percobaan dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Program Studi Teknologi Perbenihan, Politeknik Negeri Lampung pada bulan April hingga Juni 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan materi genetic 12 galur semangka generasi ke-2 (S2). Benih dari masing-masing galur di tanam pada 12 belas bedengan kemudian data pengamatan dan pengujian dibuat deskripsi dan interpretasi serta dilaporkan sebagai hasil. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) Diperoleh penampilan belum seragam (25% heterozigot dan 75% homozigot) untuk karakter pada masing-masing galur untuk karakter bentuk buah, warna kulit buah,ukuran daun dan lurik buah. Galur WM 190404 dan WM 190412 memiliki dua variasi warna daging buah yaitu warna kuning terang dan orange; 2) Galur semangka WM 190411 memiliki bobot yang masuk dalam kluster A (4,2 kg) dan kesebelas galur semangka lainya masuk kedalam kluster B dengan bobot rata-rata buah 2,2-3,7 kg; 3) Galur semangka WM 190411 memiliki kulit yang paling tebal yaitu (1,5 cm) sedangkan nilai tebal kulit buah terendah dimiliki oleh galur WM 190405 dan WM 190408 yaitu sebesar 1,1 cm; 4) Dua belas galur semangka seragam untuk karakter warna daun, warna mahkota bunga dan warna batang semangka; 5) Rata-rata PTT tertinggi dimiliki oleh galur WM 190402 yaitu 10,7 obrix.

Abstract

Kisik Lampung memiliki karakter morfologi yang hampir mirip dengan gambas bahkan memiliki ukuran buah yang lebih panjang dibandingkan gambas. Buah kisik Lampung memiliki rasa yang sama dengan gambas bahkan lebih enak dibandingkan gambas. Akan tetapi komoditas ini masih belum banyak diteliti terkait budidayanya. Sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui morfologi awal kisik Lampung dan mengetahui pengaruh posisi biji dalam buah terhadap perkecambahan kisik Lampung yang digunakan sebagai penelitian pendahuluan pengembangan kisik Lampung. Bahan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah biji kisik lampung yang dipisah berdasarkan posisinya di dalam buah yaitu pangkal, tengah, ujung dan benih yang dicampur serta gambas varietas pagoda yang digunakan sebagai kontrol dengan variabel pengamatan daya berkecambah, kecepatan tumbuh dan indeks vigor. Data yang diperolah dianalisis dengan menggunakan Uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) pada taraf 5 %. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kisik Lampung memiliki beberapa perbedaan morfologi awal dibandingkan dengan gambas varietas pagoda, gambas varietas pagoda memiliki daya berkecambah dan kecepatan tumbuh yang paling tinggi dibandingkan dengan kisik Lampung dan letak posisi biji kisik Lampung pada bagian pangkal memiliki daya berkecambah, kecepatan tumbuh dan indeks vigor paling tinggi dibandingkan posisi ujung dan tengah, akan tetapi tidak berbeda nyata dengan biji yang dicampur dari semua bagian. Abstract

Tomato production can’t fulfill the consumption needs of tomatoes. One way to fulfill this need is to expand the land by planting tomatoes in the lowlands. However, the limited number of cultivars suitable for planting in the lowlands is an obstacle. Assembling new superior cultivars of tomato plants that have good adaptations in the lowlands is one solution that can be done. The aim of this research was to produce a new tomato strain with superior characters. The research design was using a Completely Randomized Block Design, as a treatment consisting of eight new strains of F6 generation tomato plants, each experimental unit was repeated three times. The variables observed were maximum plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of fruit bunches per plant, number of fruit per bunch, number of fruit per plant, age of plant beginning to flower, age of fruit starting to form until physiological maturity, fruit diameter, the weight of each fruit, fruit yield per plant, fruit yield per hectare. The data were analyzed for variance, if there was a significant difference between treatments; further tests were carried out with the BNT test at an alpha of 0.05. The results showed that each strain had various quantitative characters. The LA, LA1, and LH strains had a higher potential yield per hectare compared to the other lines. The heritability values in most of the observed quantitative variables have moderate to high values. This shows that the character is more controlled by genetic traits. Abstract

At the selection stage in breeding with gamma irradiation mutation induction, seeds from the previous generation are needed to be planted in the field to obtain the next generation of mutants. The seeds before planting have undergone a storage period, during the storage period if the temperature, humidity, and storage conditions are not right it will affect the viability and vigor of the seeds which can reduce the germination of seeds in the field Tests to determine seed vigor can be done by conducting a conductivity test (DHL). The purpose of this study was to determine the conductivity value of each genotype of the third generation mutant and the percentage of germination of black soybean seeds during the storage period. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 10 mutant genotypes and 1 control (without irradiation), and each treatment was replicated four times. Observation variables were electrical conductivity/conductivity, germination rate, growth speed, growth synchronously, vigor index, and maximum growth potential. Based on the conductivity/DHL test, genotypes with high Conductivity/DHL values ​​have a low percentage of germination, but the percentage of germination is still above 80% during the storage period, so it is expected that they will still have high germination ability in the field. Abstract

Padi adalah salah satu komoditas pangan utama di Indonesia. Kebutuhan pangan beras akan meningkat setiap tahunnya selaras dengan peningkatan jumlah penduduk. Akan tetapi peningkatan kebutuhan beras tiap tahunnya tidak sesuai dengan kondisi lahan dan produksi padi yang ada saat ini. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan menggunakan galur atau varietas padi yang memiliki produktivitas tinggi. Pengembangan galur-galur padi baru memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda-beda. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Lahan Seed Teaching Farm PS. Teknologi Perbenihan, Politeknik Negeri Lampung, pada bulan Agustus —Desember 2020. Rancangan perlakuan disusun secara RAKL dengan 1 faktor (galur), 3 blok, dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah 13 galur tanaman padi rakitan Politeknik Negeri Lampung, yaitu galur B1, B2, B3, B4, B7, D2, D3, F3, F4, H1, H4, K dan L2. Data hasil pengamatan diolah dengan software SAS dan terhadap analisis ragam yang nyata, dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (DMRT) dengan taraf 5%. Berdasarkan nilai KKG dan KKF, variabel pengamatan yang dapat digunakan untuk seleksi berdasarkan penelitian ini yaitu jumlah gabah bernas/malai, jumlah gabah hampa/malai, bobot malai dan produktivitas. Galur yang memiliki produktivitas yang tinggi yaitu galur D3. Kata kunci: galur padi, keragaman, produktivitas

Abstract

Artropoda predator dapat dioptimalkan perannya di ekosistem sawah untuk menekan populasi hama. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis nilai indeks keanekaragaman artropoda predator pada galur padi rakitan Politeknik Negeri Lampung. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus-Desember 2020. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan Seed Teaching Farm Program Studi Teknologi Perbenihan, Politeknik Negeri Lampung dengan galur padi Pandan Wangi (PW), Ciherang (CH), B1, B2, B3, B4, B7, D2, D3, F3, F4, H1, H4, K, dan L2 dengan 2 varietas unggul pembanding yaitu Ciherang (CH) dan Gilirang (Gil). Pengamatan artropoda dilakukan menggunakan metode jaring dilakukan sebanyak 3 ayunan ganda. Pengambilan sampel serangga dilakukan pada pukul 06.00- 09.00 WIB. Identifikasi menggunakan makroskop binokuler di Laboratorium tanaman pangan II. Data hasil identifikasi serangga kemudian dihitung nilai indeks keanekaragaman spesies Shannon (H’), indeks dominasi spesies Berger-Parker (d) dan indeks kemerataan spesies dari Pielou (E). Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa artropoda predator yang ditemukan adalah laba-laba predator seperti Oxyopes javanus, Tetragnatha javana, T. virescens, T. maxilosa, Pardosa pseudoannulata, Athypena sp., dan serangga predator seperti Microvelia douglasi, Agriocnemis pygmaea, A. femina, A. pieris, dan Verania lineata, Menochillus sexmachulatus, Hispella atra, dan Paederus fuscipes. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman pada setiap galur padi fluktuatif dan berkisar dari rendah ke sedang.

Abstract

Organic agriculture was a cultivation system that applies the concept of sustainable agriculture. Organic farming systems depend on natural ingredients without using synthetic chemicals. Organic cultivation was environmentally friendly by farming activities by continuing to minimize negative impacts on the surrounding environment. This activity aims to provide knowledge and skills on the concept of sustainable agriculture, which is carried out through the application of an organic farming system at Polinela Organic Farm. Technical guidance activities are carried out at the Polinela Organic Farm, Lampung State Polytechnic, on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Participants were the Association of ‘Sejahtera Mandiri’ Farmers Groups Rejo Asri Village, Seputuh Raman, Central Lampung. The application of environmental friendly in agricultural aspects was reflected in the management of the concept of organic agriculture carried out by Polinela Organic Farm. The concept of environmental friendly in agricultural development was implemented by taking into various aspects, such as the use of inorganic fertilizers with high efficiency, the application of pest and disease control by notice the natural ecological balance, the application of integrated crop management, the application of a clean and healthy farming system, the maintenance and strengthening of physical fertility, chemical, and biological in nature and the use of effective technology based on local wisdom.

Abstract

The abundance of predatory arthropods in the rice field ecosystem acts as a biological agent that suppresses pest populations. This study aims to analyze the types of species, individuals, and abundance of predatory arthropods. The research was conducted at the Lampung State Polytechnic Seed Teaching Farm in August-December 2020. The rice plant lines planted by Lampung State Polytechnic were 14 New Type Rice (PTB) lines, namely Pandan Wangi (PW, B1, B2, B3, B4, B7, D2, D3, F3, F4, H1, H4, K, and L2 with 2 and comparable superior varieties namely Ciherang (CH) and Gilirang (Gil)). Rice cultivation is carried out conventionally. Observations of predatory arthropods that inhabit rice canopy were carried out using 3 double swings of insect nets / sweepnets per treatment plot. Insect collection was carried out at 06.00-09.00 WIB then identified in the Food Crops Laboratory II, counting the number of species, number of individuals and relative abundance. The results showed that predatory arthropods that inhabit the canopy of rice plants in several rice plant lines were obtained from the Oxyopidae, Tetragnathidae, Lycosidae, Coenagrionidae, Correidae, Coccinellidae, Chrysomelidae, and Staphylinidae families. The Tetragnathidae and Coenagrionidae families have the highest proportion of species and are found in each rice plant line.

Abstract

Most of the Indonesian population uses rice as main source of carbohydrates. The need for rice increases every year, but rice production and rice harvest area decreases every year. One way to overcome this problem is using new variety that has high productivity. This research aims to determine the agronomic characters that can be used as character selection and to select the best lines based on the character selection. The research was conducted at the Seed Teaching Farm Field of Seed Technology Study Program, Politeknik Negeri Lampung in August - December 2020. The treatment design was arranged in randomized complete block design with 1 factor (line), 3 blocks, and 3 replications. The treatments tested were 6 lines of rice plants assembled by Politeknik Negeri Lampung, namely B1, B2, B3, B4, K, L2 lines with 2 comparison varieties Ciherang and Gilirang. The characters observed were plant height, total number of tillers, number of productive tillers, flowering age and harvest age. The data from the observations were processed with SAS software and the analysis of real variance was continued by using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with an error rate of 5%. The results of this research indicate that the characters of the total number of tillers and the number of productive tillers can be used as a selection character and the lines that have superior characters are the K and L2 lines.Keywords: Rice Lines, Agronomic Character, Selection

Abstract

Edamame was a commodity that contains all types of essential amino acids that can stabilize blood sugar levels, increase metabolism and energy levels, and help build muscle and immune system cells. Farmer’s interest in planting edamame is high due to the high demand and promising commodity prices. However, edamame is often faced with weed disturbances. The weeds in edamame cultivation can reduce production in quantity and quality. Research is needed for effective weed control techniques to reduce losses and increase production plus increasing income. The research was conducted at the Lampung State Polytechnic from April to September 2020. The study was arranged using a randomized block design with single factor treatment in the form of weed control techniques with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The aim of this research was to find the best weed control techniques in edamame cultivation. The results of this study were using mulch can reduce weed growth by 75.75% to 95.45% compared without using mulch. The highest pressure on weed growth was obtained from the used plastic mulch as a weed control technique.
