Abstract

The function of plant introductions among others is to obtain new cultivars. After the introduction of plants through the process of adaptation and selection can be used as material crosses with cultivars that have adapted well. A cultivar is said superior when it has a high yield, good fruit quality, resistance to pest attack (plant pests), and able to adapt to various environments grow. The aim of this study was obtain a description, test and compare the yield and quality potential of eight varieties of tomatoes grown in the lowland which are expected to serve as a cross parent material in breeding programs. The experiment was arrange by randomized block design with three replications. The data were analyzed using F-test and the results were significantly midpoint test using LSD test at 5% level. Based on observations on eight strains of local tomatoes and introductions have descripted then selected three strains of tomato introductions which has the form of a round (TM 130804, TM 130805, TM 130806) as well as the introduction of two strains of tomato fruit has an oval shape (TM 130801 and TM 130803 ) that can be used as breeding material further. Abstract

The aim of this research to observe and analyze the ability to grow of watermelon seeds in organic and inorganic fertilizers. Observing and analyzing the interaction between the ability to grow of watermelon seeds with plant growth in organic and inorganic fertilizers. Recommend a combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers that provide maximum results. This research was conducted in field of State Polytechnic of Lampung on June until Agustus 2014. This research uses a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with treatment in the form of thiamethoxam, inorganic fertilizers and organic fertilizers, namely: P1 = 0% organic fertilizer + 100% inorganic fertilizer; P2 = 25% organic fertilizer + 75% inorganic fertilizer; P3 = 50% organic fertilizer + 50% inorganic fertilizer; P4 = 75% organic fertilizer + 25% inorganic fertilizer; P5 = 100% organic fertilizer + 0% inorganic fertilizer. Doses of inorganic fertilizers: Urea = 300 kg.ha-1, SP-36 = 200 kg.ha-1, KCl = 100 kg.ha-1. Organic fertilizer: manure (cow manure) = 20 tons.ha-1. Data were analyzed with analysis of variance and if there is a real different treatments followed by LSD test at 5% level. The results showed that organic and inorganic fertilizer application significantly affected fruit length and fruit weight, but did not significantly affect the ability to grow, main stem length and number of leaves. The length of the longest fruit found in the treatment of inorganic fertilizer application of 75% + 25% organic fertilizer (P2). While the weight of the heaviest fruit found in the treatment of organic fertilizer application of 100% (P5). The highest ability to grow plant found in the treatment of 100% inorganic fertilizer application (P1), treatment of inorganic fertilizer application 50% + 50% organic fertilizers (P3), P2 and P5 treatment. The longest length of main stem found in P5 treatment, while the highest number of leaves found in P2 treatment. Keywords: fertilization, organic, inorganic, watermelon

Abstract

The quality and production of watermelon in Indonesia is low relatively. We introduced "ToPAS" (toping, pruning, arranging and selection), the innovation of cultivation technology in an effort to improve the quality and production of watermelon. Our study was conducted in State Polytechnic of Lampung yield trials from May~August 2014, and used 12 varieties of hybrid watermelons with randomized block design two factors. The results of variance analyses in "ToPAS" system showed that productivity of watermelon fruit (oval and round type) are higher compared with conventional cultivation systems. We suggested using "ToPAS" system in watermelon cultivation to improve the cultivation technology, increasing quality and production of watermelon fruit. ?ToPAS? also suggested for watermelon breeding program.Key word : cultivation, production, ToPAS, watermelon

Abstract

Extreme weather incidents refer to high rainfall and strong winds have been speculated to be detrimental on rice production. However, researches on the local adaptation to their impact on rice production are limited especially on tropical region like Indonesia. A study was conducted in Pesawaran, West Lampung, North Lampung, and Bandar Lampung using time series data of 2000-2015 and ground checking during extreme weather and normal seasons and its implication on sustainable management. Data were evaluated using multivariate regressions. Results demonstrated that the impact of extreme weather on the reduction of rice production was weak, 0.92%. Shifting on rice production among swampy, irrigated, and dry lands at which covered area of 13.67%, 42.69% and 43.65%, respectively, minimized the impact of the extreme weather. During limited precipitation, irrigated and swamplands had 2.5-3.0 times cropping intensity. Conversely, during La-Nina with excess precipitation, cropping in irrigated and drylands increased by 20 and 58%, respectively. Moreover, the local government maintained annual production improvement by about 5% through expansion of irrigated land, high yielding varieties and inputs subsidies. Considering that incident of extreme weathers tended to occur more frequently, consequently, planting calender utilization and rice variety adapted should be implemented.

Abstract

Program pemuliaan tanaman di kampus Politeknik Negeri Lampung telah memiliki 8 galur semangka generasi ke-5 (S5). Galur-galur tersebut telah dievaluasi dan diseleksi dengan harapan telah stabil secara genetik, serta mengetahui level adaptasi terhadap lingkungan. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji F menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata antar perlakuan pada tiap parameter pengamatan dengan uji BNT 5%. WM 140502 memiliki berat tertinggi per buah 3.17 kg. Kadar gula tertinggi adalah WM 140507 yaitu 9.47 brix. Saat ini Politeknik Negeri Lampung memiliki 8 galur tipe oval dengan 6 galur berdaging merah dan 2 galur berdaging orange. Dari hasil evaluasi (S5), kita berharap memiliki galur murni untuk perakitan hibrida dengan karakter yang berbeda.

Abstract

Kegiatan pemuliaan tanaman untuk merakit varietas hibrida dimulai dengan koleksi plasma nutfah melalui introduksi ataupun varietas lokal, kemudian dilakukan kegiatan penggaluran hingga diperoleh galur murni. Karakterisasi merupakan salah satu tahap yang harus dilakukan dari kegiatan pemuliaan tanaman guna  merakit varietas hibrida. Generasi kedua merupakan generasi penting untuk menentukan idiotipe tanaman yang diharapkan oleh pemulia. Percobaan ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi karakter fenotipik dan karakter agronomis yang tampak pada galur semangka generasi kedua. Percobaan dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Program Studi Teknologi Perbenihan, Politeknik Negeri Lampung pada bulan April hingga Juni 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan materi genetic 12 galur semangka generasi ke-2 (S2). Benih dari masing-masing galur di tanam pada 12 belas bedengan kemudian data pengamatan dan pengujian dibuat deskripsi dan interpretasi serta dilaporkan sebagai hasil. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) Diperoleh penampilan belum seragam (25% heterozigot dan 75% homozigot) untuk karakter pada masing-masing galur untuk karakter bentuk buah, warna kulit buah,ukuran daun dan lurik buah. Galur WM 190404 dan WM 190412 memiliki dua variasi warna daging buah yaitu warna kuning terang dan orange; 2) Galur semangka WM 190411 memiliki bobot yang masuk dalam kluster A (4,2 kg) dan kesebelas galur semangka lainya masuk kedalam kluster B dengan bobot rata-rata buah 2,2-3,7 kg; 3) Galur semangka WM 190411 memiliki kulit yang paling tebal yaitu (1,5 cm) sedangkan nilai tebal kulit buah terendah dimiliki oleh galur WM 190405 dan WM 190408 yaitu sebesar 1,1 cm; 4) Dua belas galur semangka seragam untuk karakter warna daun, warna mahkota bunga dan warna batang semangka; 5) Rata-rata PTT tertinggi dimiliki oleh galur WM 190402 yaitu 10,7 obrix.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan tahap pengkarakterisasian semangka mini tipe kulit buah gelap pada generasi ke-3 (F3). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai keragaman genetik terhadap karakter semangka mini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari kelima galur yang diujikan memiliki warna daging buah merah, dua galur berbentuk bulat (WM 191102 dan WM 191104), dan tiga galur berbentuk oval (WM 191106, WM 191108 dan WM 191109). Kelima galur semangka yang diuji memiliki berbagai tipe lurik atau strip yang berbeda-beda. Galur tanpa lurik (WM 191109), galur lurik pudar  (WM 191108), galur lurik tipis (WM 191102 dan WM 191106), dan galur lurik tebal (WM 191104). Informasi mengenai karakterisasi lima galur semangka mini dengan tipe kulit buah gelap baik secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif, selanjutnya digunakan pada tahap pemuliaan berikutnya yaitu seleksi galur murni sebagai tetua hibrida. Kata kunci: karakterisasi, semangka mini, tipe gelap,
