Abstract

The purpose of this study is as follows: to obtain empirical data and analyze The Effects of Reading Habit and Vocabulary Mastery towards Student's Speaking Skill in vocational schools in East Jakarta. Calculations were performed in this study was descriptive statistics, testing normality using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, ANOVA tables. The research was conducted in vocational schools in East Jakarta. Data retrieved by providing test Reading Habit / reading habits (questionnaire of 20 numbers), Vocabulary Matery / vocabulary (multiple-choice and match as many as 20 questions), and test speaking skills / ability to speak (interview by 3 numbers) given to students in grade ten on 10 November and SMK SMK PGRI 20 Jakarta Timur.Berdasarkan results obtained, it can be concluded that there are significant between the reading habits of the students' speaking ability (Sig = 0.006 and ttest = 2.940; while TTable = 1.68). There is the influence of vocabulary on their speaking ability (Sig = 0.000 and ttest = 5,336; while TTable = 1.68). There is the influence of the habit of reading and vocabulary of the students' speaking ability (correlation coefficient = 0.850 and the coefficient of determination = 72.2%).Keywords: the habit of reading, vocabulary, and speaking skills

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh persepsi siswa atas model pembelajaran kooperatif dan kemampuan berpikir kritis secara bersama-sama terhadap keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Negeri Depok. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode survei penjelasan (explanatory survey method) dengan pendekatan kuantatif melalui metode korelasional. Sampel diambil 60 orang siswa atau 33% dari populasi, teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak dengan teknik sampel sistematis. Hasil penelitian: Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan persepsi siswa atas model pembelajaran kooperatif dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa secara bersama-sama terhadap keterampilan berbicara  bahasa Inggris. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan Fhitung =12.832 > Ftabel = 3.16, dan sig = 0.000 < 0.05. Variabel persepsi siswa atas model pembelajaran kooperatif  dan kemampuan berpikir kritis   siswa menentukan tingkat keterampilan berbicara  bahasa Inggris sebesar 31%.    Kata Kunci: Persepsi Siswa atas Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif, Berpikir Kritis, Keterampilan Berbicara

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan agar peneliti dapat secara empirik apakah keterampilan berbicara siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan teknik bermain peran lebih tinggi dibandingkan para peserta didik yang mendapatkan pengajaran melalui metode konvensional (diskusi) peserta didik kelas VI Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Falah Bogor. Metode eksperimen digunakan sebagai metode penelitian dalam penelitian ini. Sampel yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling dengan jumlah sampel dari 60 siswa. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tes non-lisan berjumlah 20 soal. Analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji syarat data yakni uji normalitas serta homogenitas dan juga uji kesamaan dua rata-rata. Hasil pengujian hipotesis ini diperoleh melalui uji kesamaan dua rata-rata ( uji t) pada taraf signifikan 5%. Dari hasil analisis data diperoleh rata-rata skor kelas eksperimen =78,7 dengan simpangan=10,28 sedangkan rata-rata kelas kontrol = 72,6 dengan simpangan=11,09. Hasil pengajuan hipotesis diperoleh thitung= 2,202 dan ttabel 2,002378 karena thitung> ttabel dengan Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima. Dari hasil penelitian dapat ditarik suatu simpulan bahwa teknik bermain peran memengaruhi keterampilan berbicara siswa.    Kata Kunci: Teknik Bermain Peran, Keterampilan Berbicara

Abstract

Game is one of the techniques that is used by teachers to help the students in practicing speaking in order to make them able to master it. Games are highly motivating when it is used to practice language skills in English in the classroom. Games also provide fun and relax when it is used in the classroom, it is expected for shy and slow learners can be active participants to show their ability and find their confidence in communicating in the foreign language. The research aims to describe the use of Quartet Card Game in teaching speaking at SMPN 275, East Jakarta. The Quartet Card Game is used to help the students in practicing language skills, especially speaking. Quartet Card Game has so many varieties pictures and words that can be used by the students in learning speaking skill. The data are collected through observation, interview, discussion, books and also documentation. By the data, the research finds the role of Quartet Card Game in teaching speaking.
