Abstract

Karsinoma nasofaring (KNF) adalah keganasan yang tersering di kepala dan Leher. Karsinogenesis KNF dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor seperti faktor lingkungan, genetik, dan infeksi virus. Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) terbukti berperan penting dalam karsinogenesis KNF dan salah satu protein yang berperan penting adalah LMP2A. Penelitan ini mengidentifikasi hubungan antara stadium klinis KNF, klasifikasi TNM, dan ekspresi relatif mRNA LMP2A EBV. Biopsi formalin-fixed parafin-embedded (FFPE) dari jaringan tumor primer terkumpul dari 24 pasien KNF. Sampel diproses menggunakan qRT-PCR. Data di analisa dengan metode 2-ΔCt dan dianalisis secara statistik. Seluruh sampel mengekspresikan LMP2A. Berdasarkan analisis statistik tidak ditemukan hubungan stadium tumor dan klasifikasi TNM dengan ekspresi relatif mRNA LMP2A. Namun demikian  terdapat tren penurunan Ct dengan peningkatan stadium klinis KNF.

Abstract

Backgorund The osteomeatal complex (OMC) is the main drainage pathway of the paranasal sinuses, and anatomical variations, such as nasal septal deviation, may disrupt airflow and increase the risk of sinusitis; therefore, a CT Scan is the preferred modality for its evaluation. Objective: To determine the association between OMC anatomical variations and maxillary sinusitis based on head CT Scan results at Ajibarang Regional Hospital in 2024. Methodology: This analytic, observational, cross-sectional study used head CT Scan data, with OMC anatomical variations as independent variables and maxillary sinusitis as the dependent variable. Interobserver agreement was assessed using Fleiss’ Kappa, followed by univariate analysis to determine frequency distribution, and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square (χ²) test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Interobserver agreement was substantial to perfect (κ = 0.76–1.00). Most patients presented with maxillary sinusitis (69.44%), and the most common anatomical variation was nasal septal deviation (52.78%), which was the only anatomical variation to show a significant association with maxillary sinusitis (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Nasal septal deviation is the only OMC anatomical variation significantly associated with maxillary sinusitis, while other variations showed no meaningful association.

Abstract

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative disease causing articular cartilage damage and potentially leading to long-term disability. Physical Activity Level (PAL) is a modifiable risk factor; however, previous studies have shown inconsistent results regarding the relationship between PAL and the severity of knee OA. Objective: To determine the relationship between Physical Activity Level (PAL) and the severity of knee OA at RST Wijayakusuma Purwokerto. Methods: An analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted at RST Wijayakusuma Purwokerto involving 32 respondents selected via consecutive sampling. Physical activity levels were measured using the IPAQ-LF questionnaire, while knee OA severity was assessed based on the Kellgren-Lawrence classification. Results: Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between PAL and knee OA severity (p = 0.016). Logistic regression analysis showed that PAL was significantly associated with knee OA severity (p = 0.015); respondents with physical activity levels classified as "at-risk" had 9.334 times higher odds of developing severe knee OA compared to those with non-risk activity levels (OR = 9.334; 95% CI: 1.537–56.674). Conclusion: There is a relationship between PAL and the severity of knee OA. Respondents with at-risk physical activity levels have higher odds of experiencing severe knee osteoarthritis
