Abstract

The rationale of this study was students' critical and creative thinking skills in learning mathematics are still low. Many strategies to improve those abilities, one of the strategies is using e-worksheets. This research aims to explore the effect of e-worksheets based on Tri-N Principles give support to improve the creative and critical thinking ability of students in learning mathematics. Tri-N was chosen since one of Ki Hajar Dewantara's principles, including Niteni, Nirokke, and Nambahi. These principles have provided support to improve the creative and critical thinking ability of students in learning. An experimental method with a posttest-only design type was used in this research. The random cluster was used to take a research sample of 52 students from the Junior High School of Pembangunan Piyungan in two classes. The instrument used is a mathematical test in the form of a description which aims to measure students' mathematical critical and creative thinking abilities. The hypothesis test uses multivariate analysis because this study has two dependent variables. The results revealed that the calculated F is  with a significance coefficient of .000. For this reason, it can be concluded that e-worksheets based on Tri-N principles improve critical and creative thinking skills. So, e-worksheets based on Tri-N principles can be used as an alternative to improve the creative and critical thinking ability of students in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that most junior high school students have low critical and creative thinking abilities when facing mathematical problems. Even though these two abilities can be used as a basis for solving a mathematical problem, this research aims to determine the effectiveness of Tri-N based LKPD on students' critical thinking and creative thinking skills in One Variable Linear Equations material. The research method used is an experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Design. The sample size was 39 students in a private junior high school in Piyungan, Bantul. This sample was taken using a cluster random sampling technique. The instrument used in this research is a mathematical problem test, which aims to measure critical and creative thinking abilities in dealing with mathematical problems. The data analysis technique used is the MANOVA test. The research results show that learning mathematics on equations and linear inequalities in one variable using Tri-N based worksheets does not significantly affect students' ability to think critically and creatively. In connection with the results of this research, Tri-N based LKPD on equations and inequalities in one variable can be used as an alternative teaching material for mathematics learning in equations and inequalities in one variable.

Abstract

This research is one form of effort to show evidence of the relationship between mathematics and culture, especially on the subject of geometry, as well as to show the public that culture has an attachment to mathematics. The purpose of this study was to determine the construction process of the Minangkabau Gadang house and the geometric concepts contained therein. This study used qualitative research methods to describe the rules of cultural wisdom in building Gadang houses and the geometric concepts inside. With literature studies and observations of Gadang houses West Sumatera. The results of this study indicate that the construction of this traditional house turns out to be unwittingly using mathematical concepts to adapt to the environmental conditions in which it  was built so that it does not only look at the aesthetics and comfort of living but also the security that the residents of the house get. Of course, it will be different in each regional condition and traditional house.

Abstract

Calculus classes often focus on studying derivatives, a fundamental topic in mathematics. Upon finishing their studies, potential mathematics teachers will educate students about advanced concepts such as derivatives in the classroom. Therefore, comprehending derivative concepts is essential for teaching children effectively. This study aims to determine how potential mathematics teachers view themselves concerning derivative concepts based on their concept image and concept definition. The study utilized a hermeneutic phenomenological approach together with qualitative approaches in its research strategy. The research data was obtained through interviews and clinical tests from six participants from one of the universities in Kuningan Regency, Indonesia. The research findings indicate that participants' concept image of derivative concepts is limited to symbolic representations. Most participants did not view derivative concepts as providing a deeper understanding but rather as a technique to solve procedural problems. The results indicate that utilizing a range of representations in the learning process can improve the development of a more thorough conceptual understanding, leading to better comprehension of derivative concepts.
