Abstract

Abstract

Waste is an unused or disposed material from a source of human activity and natural processes. So far, waste is still a big problem, because there is no proper solution that causes adverse impact on the environment and health. Less of knowledge about waste processing makes people less concerned about the impact caused. All of the time, waste processingby Landfill method where the waste is transported to landfill (TPA) or taken by scavengers and the rest burned or dumped for a long time. The solution is not an appropriate alternative, because landfills are unsustainable and cause environmental problems. Waste that should be an additional income even burned and impacted for health and the environment. With the garbage bank and the principle of 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replace) for solution of waste, it will help the society to make use of waste into additional income.Thatis one of the steps to awaken the public about the awareness of the surrounding environment and create a clean and economical environment. Keywords: waste, waste solution, garbage bank, 4R, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replace

Abstract

As an archipelagic country, ship transportation is very important to connect between islands in Indonesia. In ship construction planning, ship hull material is an important factor because corrosion often occurs. Corrosion is the deterioration of a material due to a chemical reaction. This research is an interesting scientific discussion to find out cause the failure of ship hull materials. This research was conducted using an experimental method. Quantitatively the weight loss of aluminum material is calculated according to ASTM G31-72, then calculates the corrosion rate and analyzes the factors that affect the corrosion rate with XRD testing. From the results of the weight loss test, the largest corrosion rate occurred in the material located at 3.6% NaCl salinity conditions of 12.18 mpy with an immersion time of 1 month. From the results of XRD analysis showed that there were compounds 2NaAlO2 and Al2O3 at the highest peak intensity.

Abstract

The Musi River's water is typically used to meet everyday needs. However, because of the current high population and activities, industrial and domestic garbage are being dumped straight into the Musi River. The purpose of this research was to study the variables that affect the processing of the Musi Riiver Water Samples to get the quality standard requirements of the third-grade river water. Water is filtered using a slow sand filter with a 50–70 cm sand height fluctuation and four different UV irradiation times 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. The results of this investigation showed that 2% DO was obtained for the filtration of Musi River water using a slow sand filter with a height of 70 cm sand. BOD5 and COD degradation were determined to be 82% and 93%, respectively. Meanwhile, 29/100 ml of E. Coli was discovered for the UV radiation therapy after a 60-minute irradiation period.

Abstract

Construction activities include the stages of construction, operation, maintenance, demolition, and rebuilding of a building. One of the construction activities in Indonesia is the construction of double-track railways. In the double-track railway construction project, there is a small excavator A which often fails. The excavator is used for excavation, land stripping, and embankment work. Failures that occur can disrupt construction implementation and can result in the company experiencing losses. Maintenance activities in the construction company that is the research location have a maintenance schedule, namely every 3 months and every 6 months based on the manual book, without adjusting the condition of the equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze excavator components so that appropriate maintenance is known. RCM II is a maintenance evaluation method so that system components run well and according to the expected function by determining a maintenance action that must be carried out based on the characteristics of machine use so that maintenance activities run optimally. This research uses the RCM II method to determine the maintenance schedule, as well as the FMEA method. The FMEA results show 43 failure modes. RCM II decision worksheet analysis showed that 8 components had scheduled discard task maintenance, 3 components had scheduled restoration task maintenance, and 1 component had scheduled on-condition task maintenance.
