Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of ointment extract of kecombrang flower (Etlingera elatior) on healing incision wounds in white rats (Ratus norvegicus) in terms of the formation of wound scab, wound closure time and wound attachment. The experimental research used is Randomized complete design with 4 treatments with 6 replications. The treatments applied were P0 as a negative control, P1 (20% kecombrang flower extract ointment), P2 (30% kecombrang flower extract ointment) and P3 (40% kecombrang flower extract ointment). Parameters of this study were the wound caropeng, wound closure time and wound attachment. The results obtained were different median values in the four groups with p = 0,000 (p <0.05) in the Kruskal Wallis test. In the Mann Whitney test were significant differences between the groups of 20% kecombrang flower extract ointment concentration, 30% concentration and 40% concentration in the negative control group. The most effective result is ointment extract of kecombrang flower 20% on healing incision wounds.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of red betel leaf infusion (Piper crocatum) as anti-obesity in mice (Mus musculus). Other parameters of this study to know the relationship between changes in blood glucose levels to obesity in experimental animals. Experimental animals used were 24 male mice. The design of this research is completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments 6 repetitions. There are four treatmens P0 (Control), P1 (6 mice by giving a betel leaf infusion with a concentration of 5%), P2 (6 mice by giving a betel leaf infusion with a concentration of 10%), and P3 (6 mice by giving a betel leaf infusion with a concentration of red 15%). The treatment is carried out once every day for 21 days. Before treatment, initial weight was weighed and blood glucose level examination continued on the 7th day, on the 14th day, and on the 21st day. Data obtained from the results of weighing and checking blood sugar levels were further analyzed using the ANOVA test which statistically showed no significant changes (P> 0.05) of body weight and blood glucose levels in mice (Mus musculus) given infusion red betel leaf (Piper crocatum).

Abstract

Abstract This research was aimed to find out the prevalence and degree of infection Trichodiniasis on the Dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus) in four ponds cultivation of Sumenep Regency, East Java. The total of 200 samples of Dumbo catfish were from four cultivation ponds to be examined in the Parasitology laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Univercity Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. The examination was carried out by means of scraping mucus as well as taking the gill Lamella and observed under the microscope with 100x and 400x magnification. The results showed that the highest level of Trichodiniasis prevalence was in the cultivation pool C (64%) With the degree of infection 5.62 individual parasites/fishes including the category of severe infections while in the pond cultivation A (28%) With the degree of infection 1.86 individual parasitic/fish, cultivation pool B (30%) With the degree of infection 2.46 individual parasites/fishes and the cultivation pond D (48%) With an infection degree 3.02 individual parasites/fishes including a category of mild infections. So using Uji-T can be known results of cases of Trichodiniasis that attacked Dumbo catfish (clarias gariepinus) on four pools of cultivation in Sumenep Regency, East Java showed a very noticeable difference.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of several temperatures of thawing water and the length of thawing on the quality of Simmental frozen semen. This research method was an experimental study used a multifactorized completely randomized design with treatment of thawing water temperature 26oC, 37oC, 42oC and long thawing 10 seconds, 15 seconds and 20 seconds. The data obtained were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If there are differences in the real or very significant influence on each treatment, then Duncan's multiple distance test is continued. The results showed that there was a significant effect (P <0.05) between the duration of thawing and thawing temperature on sperm motility and viability, but there was no interaction between temperature and thawing time (P> 0.05). Thawing temperature of 37 ° C and thawing time of 20 seconds showed the highest viability and motility of sperm so that it could provide the best quality of Simmental cow frozen semen for artificial insemination

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kebutuhan daging sapi secara nasional tidak dapat terpenuhi. Permasalahan utama ialah permintaan daging sapi yang tinggi dipasaran, namun terkendala oleh lambatnya pertumbuhan populasi sapi potong. Faktor penurunan produksi salah satunya disebabkan oleh vektor yaitu lalat Stomoxys calcitrans. Stomoxys calcitrans dapat menyebabkan kerugian ekonomi pada industri peternakan karena dapat menyebabkan stres pada hewan, menurunkan produktivitas dan kualitas susu dan daging, mengalami penurunan berat badan, serta menyebarkan penyakit infeksi yang dapat berdampak pada kesehatan hewan dan manusia. Tujuan Penelitian: Mengidentifikasi apakah perasan daun pandan dapat menjadi alternatif yang lebih aman dibandingkan dengan insektisida kimia. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 6 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perasan daun pandan memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kematian lalat Stomoxys calcitrans. Perlakuan P3 dengan konsentrasi 60% perasan daun pandan menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata dibandingkan dengan P1 (20%) dan P2 (40%). Namun, konsentrasi yang paling efektif dalam membunuh lalat adalah pada perlakuan P4 (80%) dan P5 (100%), di mana kedua konsentrasi ini menunjukkan tingkat kematian lalat yang tertinggi. Kesimpulan: Perasan daun pandan memiliki potensi sebagai insektisida alami yang efektif terhadap lalat Stomoxys calcitrans. Konsentrasi perasan daun pandan sebesar 80% (P4) dan 100% (P5) menunjukkan efektivitas yang paling tinggi dalam membunuh lalat penghisap darah tersebut. Penelitian ini memberikan bukti bahwa daun pandan dapat menjadi alternatif insektisida alami yang ramah lingkungan dan efektif untuk pengendalian hama, khususnya lalat penghisap darah.
