Abstract

Plumbum (Pb) pollution in environment can cause dangerous for animal. Plumbum enter the body through oral cavity and was excreted by kidney and can effect to the kidney function. Defect in kidney can make distraction of metabolism. An effort to prevent deffect in kidney that cause by plumbum can be used antioxidant from Red Fruit plant (Padanus conoideus Lam). The aim of this research was to know the effect of Red Fruit plant with the degrees of kidney cell degeneration that was exposed by plumbum. Type of this research was experimental research that use complete random design with 4 treatment, P0 (aquadest 0,5 ml), P1 (Pb 0,01 mg), P2 (was given with Red Fruit Oil 0,3 ml and Pb 0,01 mg), P3 (was given with Red Fruit Oil 0,8 ml and Pb0,01 mg). The data was analyzed by Kruskal Wallis using SPSS and followed with Mann-Whitney test. The result of this research show that there were significant difference between P0 and P1, P0 and P2, P0 and P3, P1 and P3 (P<0,05), but did not showed significant difference (p>0.05) with P2 and P3. Base on this research can be concluded that giving red fruit oil can decrease the degrees of cell degeneration in mouse kidney that was exposed by plumbum.

Abstract

Ashitaba leaves have many vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, and has the potential to be a feed supplement to chicken growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of Ashitaba leaf flour as a source of probiotics in feed on levels of broiler abdominal fat production. 25 DOC broilers were kept for 35 days. The treatment was the addition of Ashitaba leaf flour in basal feed with different levels ; P0 (0% Ashitaba Leaf Flour + 98% Basal Feed + 2% Filler); P1 (0.5% Ashitaba Leaf Flour + 98% Basal Feed + 1.5% Filler); P2 (1% Ashitaba Leaf Flour + 98% Basal Feed + 1% Filler); P3 (1.5% Ashitaba leaf meal + 98% Basal feed + 0.5% Filler) and; P4 (2% Ashitaba leaf flour + 98% Basal feed + 0% Filler). The data obtained were analyzed using variance and if there were significant differences it would be further tested with the Duncan Distance Test. The results showed that giving Ashitaba Leaf Flour up to a level of 2% had a significant on increasing the weight of broiler (P> 0.05) but had no significant (P> 0.05) on the weight of abdominal fat and the percentage of abdominal fat.

Abstract

Kuda penarik cidomo yang digunakan sebagai alat transportasi di Kota Mataram sangat rentan terhadap penyakit cacingan karena hidup di jalan dengan pemeliharaan secara tradisional yang akan berdampak pada kesehatan kuda. Telah dilakukan penelitian cross-sectional pada kuda penarik cidomo di Kota Mataram pada bulan Februari sampai Maret 2021. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan prevalensi cacingan saluran cerna dengan umur kuda penarik cidomo di Kota Mataram. Sebanyak 74 feses kuda penarik cidomo dikumpulkan langsung dari dubur kuda untuk pemeriksaan telur cacing guna mengukur prevalensi cacingan saluran cerna. Pemeriksaan telur cacing pada feses dilakukan di Laboratorium Equine Clinical Skill Center Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan, Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika dengan metode sedimentasi dan flotasi. Hubungan prevalensi cacingan saluran cerna dengan umur kuda penarik cidomo dianalisis dengan uji Pearson dengan α = 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prevalensi cabut cidomo yang terinfeksi cacing adalah 76,1% (53/7). Telur cacing yang teridentifikasi adalahStrongylus spp, Trichostrongylus spp, Cyathostoma spp, Ostertagia spp, dan Parascaris equorum . Hubungan prevalensi infeksi cacing saluran cerna dengan umur kuda penarik cidomo tidak bermakna dengan p = 0,22.

Abstract

Escherichia coli bacteria that are resistant to β-lactam antibiotics and may be able to produce Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBLs) have been found in the reproductive tract of Bali cattle. Escherichia coli that produce ESBL will cause antimicrobial resistance (AMR) which has become a global health problem. The purpose of this study was to detect phenotypically the presence of Escherichia coli that produces ESBL from the reproductive tract of Bali cattle. This research was conducted in February 2022 in Lando Village, Terara District, East Lombok Regency using 8 female Bali cattle on smallholder farms. Reproductive fluid samples were collected using a plastic sheet gun which was inserted into the Brain Infusion Heart (BHI) media and incubated at the Public Health and Calibration Laboratory of West Nusa Tenggara Province. The samples were then cultured in EMBA media for the isolation of Escherichia coli. The isolated Escherichia coli were then identified by gram staining and biochemical tests based on Bergey's manual of determinative bacteriology. The identified Escherichia coli were screened using the disc diffusion method using the antibiotics Penicillin G10U, Ceftazidime 30 μg, and Cefotaxime 30 μg followed by a confirmation test using the double disk synergy test (DDST) method. The results of the screening test showed that only 12.5% of Escherichia coli (1 out of 8 samples) were resistant to Penicillin G, but they had not been detected to produce ESBL phenotypically.

Abstract

Thawing merupakan pencairan kembali semen yang telah dibekukan sebelum dilakukan Inseminasi Buatan (IB), Suhu dan Lama thawing mempunyai pengaruh besar terhadap keadaan spermatozoa khususnya keutuhan spermatozoa sehingga tetap memiliki kemampuan membuahi ovum yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu, untuk mendpatkan kualitas spermatozoa semen beku sapi Bali yang memenuhi kritaria dalam pelaksanaan IB dibutuhkan kombinasi suhu dan lama thawing yang baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui suhu dan waktu lama thawing semen beku sapi Bali yang optimal untuk digunakan dalam IB. penelitian dilakukan mulai tanggal 8 Maret 2021 sampai dengan 10 Maret 2021. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah semen beku dari sapi Bali dari Balai Inseminasi Buatan Daerah (BBID) Banyumulek. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu suhu 37ºC dan lama thawing 30 menit, 60 menit, 90 menit dan 120 menit. Tiap perlakuan diuang sebanyak 3 kali. Variabel yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah motilitas dan viailitas spermatozoa. Motilitas diamati dengan metode mikroskop sedangkan viabilitas diamati dengan pewarnaan eosin-negrosin. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suhu dan waktu lama thawing berpengaruh terhadap kualitas spermatozoa semen beku sapi Bali. Pada motilitas spermatozoa dengan suhu  37ºC dengan waktu lama thawing 120 menit sangat kurang optimal untuk digunakan saat IB, Persentase viablitas spermatozoa pada suhu  37ºC dengan waktu lama thawing 30 menit, 60 menit dan 90 menit masih layak digunakan untuk digunakan dalam IB, karena pada suhu dan lama thawing tersebut, menunjukkan hasil 50% keatas.

Abstract

In Indonesia, native chickens are still in demand by the community. However, this type of chicken has low productivity compared to purebred chickens. At this time, there has been a type of native chicken that is Arab Chicken that has been widely developed in Indonesia because it has better endurance than other native chickens. In addition to Arabic chickens, there are also KUB chickens developed by the Bogor Livestock Research Institute to address the problem of low productivity of native chickens. But these two types of chickens remain susceptible to diseases, such as Avian Influenza (AI). To overcome this breeders conduct AI vaccinations using inactive vaccines. This study aims to find out the difference between post-vaccination antibodies between KUB chickens and Arab chickens. This research has been conducted from June to August 2018. The chickens used amounted to 40 chickens (20 KUB chickens and 20 Arab chickens). The chickens are kept from the age of one day and placed in two separate cages according to their breed. Intracardial blood sampling was pre-treatment (three days old) for the 40 chickens. At the age of four days, the chickens were injected with an inactive AI vaccine, and 21 days later blood sampling was again carried out (post-treatment). HI, tests are used to find out titer antibodies pre and post-treatment. The results of antibody titer readings were then analyzed using a t-test and Geometric Mean Titer test (GMT). T-test results showed that T value (6,364)T table (1,734), so the results of this study showed that the titer antibodies formed are different (P0.05). KUB chickens have higher antibody titers than Arab chickens.
