Abstract

The design aims to solve the existing problems: 1) the lack of Chinese cultural elements and characteristics, 2) the absence of space to welcome guests such as lobby, and 3) the use of monotonous furnitures. Based on those problems, designer learns how to create an interesting, warm and cozy Chinese restaurant atmosphere with Chinese characteristics that is able to maximize the functionality of each room within the restaurant. The interior design of this Chinese restaurant located in Surabaya is also act as an introduction to modern Chinese culture towards society. Design Thinking method is used to get the maximum result during the design process. The design results in the establishment of a lobby facility, a semi-VIP area that offers scenic view, VIP rooms as private areas, the stage to accommodate music and dance performances, buffet area, and bar. In the end, hopefully the design of this Chinese restaurant could be an alternative solution to resolve the existing problems, especially in Surabaya.

Abstract

Nowadays, there are a lot of fitness center that facilitate people’s need for health. The design and areas of fitness centers are very diverse due to people’s various needs. One of the needs in fitness center is generating indoor jogging track area. Users will be educated about the importance of cardiovascular exercise, that would be maximized if they do it without any machines. Moreover, it is also quite beneficial to reduce the boredom during the exercise even increase the social relationship among users of the facilities in it. The mision of this project is that people are being educated by the importance of jogging exercise. Indoor jogging track become the main focus in the design of this facility so it needs to be maximized to attract and improve user’s satisfaction. However, the other supporting facilities also need to be considered. Other designed facilities include reception area, café area, fitness area, yoga area, aerobics area, RPM area, and locker room.

Abstract

Three reinforced concrete beams, one with no shear reinforcement and two others with shear reinforcement ratios of 0.4% and 1.1%, were tested to investigate the influence of stirrup spacing on the mode of failure, overall strength and ductility. The results show that the beam reinforced with closely-spaced shear reinforcement failed in a ductile manner, whereas the other two beams with large stirrup spacing and no stirrup exhibited only a small measure of ductility and failed in a brittle manner. The importance of the provisions of maximum spacing is highlighted to ensure adequate anchorage for the stirrups and prevent a premature shear failure to occur. The application of a non-contact monitoring system employing the open source digital image correlation software Ncorr, an ordinary digital camera and a smartphone is demonstrated to provide a visualization of the cracking process throughout the load history.

Abstract

Geopolymer concrete that has polymer formwork is very likely to be used as reinforced concrete material with several advantages. The advantages of geopolymer concrete when compared to portland cement concrete are: resistant to acidic environments (corrosion resistance), better bond strength of reinforcement with concrete material, stable at high temperatures, higher fracture energy. Previous experimental studies found that the tensile strength, bond strength, and fracture energy of geopolymer concrete were better, leading to the hypothesis that the ductility value of geopolymer concrete was better than portland cement concrete. The identification of ductility values based on the compressive strength of concrete will be carried out in research using the finite element method using the 3D ATENA program. Several specimens with compressive strength of 25 MPa, 30 MPa, 35 MPa, 40 MPa, and 45 MPa were compared with their ductility values. The results showed that the 25 MPa specimen had the highest ductility value with 5.33, while the lowest ductility value is 45 MPa specimen with 3.39.
