Abstract

Elderly is part of the life process that cannot be avoided and will be experienced by every individual. The aging process can cause various problems both physically, biologically, socio-economically and mentally. One of the biological disorders that occur in the elderly is defecation disorders. Defecation is the process of removing waste products from the body. Defecation removes the remains of digestion or also substances that do not undergo the digestive process, these substances are in the form of feces that are excreted through the anus. One of the methods used to improve the function of defecation and micturition is Pelvic Floor Muscule Exercises (PFME). The purpose of community service is to train the elderly to do PFME in order to improve defecation function. Training activities for 6 consecutive days, with 15 elderly living in elderly social institutions. The results of the activity show that the activity can increase defecation even though it is not significant. These results state that Pelvic Floor Muscule Exercises (PFME) activities need to be carried out routinely at social institutions for the elderly to help reduce disorders in elderly defecation.

Abstract

Urinary or micturition problems in the elderly often occur and greatly interfere with daily activities so that they can affect the lifestyle and health of the elderly, the purpose of this study was to see the effect of Pelvic Floor Muscule Exercise (PFME). Elderly is a continuation of a life process that is characterized by changes and decreases in the ability of body functions, one of which is urinary function and gastrointestinal function. The aim of the study was to analyze differences in pelvic floor muscular exercise (PFME) on the function of the urinary tract (micturition) in the elderly. The research method used was quantitative with a pre-experimental design. The number of samples is 21 respondents. The results of the study. The function of the urinary tract (voiding) before the intervention was 29.20 with a standard deviation of 2.530, while the average value after the intervention was 45.90 with a standard deviation of 6.790. The results of the T test (paired samples test) on the urinary tract (micturition) obtained p value = 0.000 which means that there is a significant effect on the urinary tract (voiding) before and after the PFME intervention is given, this shows the p value < (0 ,05). This shows that PFME activities need to be carried out regularly and continuously in order to have a more meaningful impact on benefits, so as to reduce micturition disorders in the elderly.

Abstract

Hypertension can lead to serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney damage. The prevalence of hypertension often goes undetected due to minimal symptoms, so many individuals are unaware of it. Early detection through routine blood pressure measurements and health education is important for risk identification and effective management of hypertension. Blood pressure checks and health education are important first steps in raising public health awareness. This activity aims to identify individual health conditions and provide the knowledge necessary to maintain optimal health. From the data obtained, 14% of participants showed symptoms of hypotension, 66% had normal blood pressure, and 20% already had hypertension. These results show the need for continuous efforts in blood pressure monitoring and health education to reduce the risk of blood pressure-related diseases. This service emphasizes the importance of early detection and increased public understanding of the importance of keeping blood pressure within the normal range to prevent further health complications.

Abstract

Hospitalization is a condition that requires a child to be admitted to the hospital. This situation causes children to experience anxiety, restlessness, and fear. One of the nursing interventions to reduce anxiety due to hospitalization is play therapy. A form of play therapy appropriate for preschool children is puzzle play therapy. Puzzle play therapy is an activity in which children arrange pieces of pictures or specific shapes to form a complete image. This therapy encourages children to develop patience, stimulates concentration, and provides feelings of comfort and enjoyment, thereby reducing anxiety. The method used in preparing this Final Nursing Scientific Paper was a descriptive case study with the implementation of puzzle play therapy. The respondents consisted of three children experiencing anxiety due to hospitalization. Puzzle play materials and the Facial Image Scale (FIS) were used as measurement tools. The intervention was conducted over three consecutive days, with a duration of 15 minutes per session. The results showed a decrease in anxiety levels after puzzle play therapy: respondent 1 decreased from anxiety scale 5 to scale 1, respondent 2 from scale 4 to scale 1, and respondent 3 from scale 5 to scale 1. It can be concluded that puzzle play therapy is effective in reducing anxiety due to hospitalization in preschool children with dengue hemorrhagic fever. The implementation of puzzle play therapy is expected to become a routine nursing intervention to reduce hospitalization-related anxiety in preschool children with dengue hemorrhagic fever.

Abstract

Diabetic Sensorimotor Polyneuropathy (DSPN) is a common chronic complication of diabetes mellitus caused by persistent hyperglycemia, resulting in sensory, motor, and autonomic nerve damage, particularly in the lower extremities. DSPN increases the risk of diabetic foot ulcers, infections, and amputations. Previous studies by Astuti and Ritonga showed that diabetic foot exercises can improve peripheral neuropathy and reduce blood glucose levels. To evaluate the effect of diabetic foot exercises on DSPN and random blood glucose (RBG) levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. This evidence-based practice (EBP) implementation involved three patients with diabetes mellitus. Random blood glucose was measured using a glucometer, while DSPN was assessed using the Neuropathy Symptom Score (NSS) and Neuropathy Disability Score (NDS). Foot exercises were performed twice daily for four consecutive days following the standard operating procedure. All respondents showed decreased RBG levels. Nursing assessment identified unstable blood glucose levels, ineffective peripheral tissue perfusion, and deficient knowledge regarding a healthy lifestyle. The average RBG reduction was 12.8%, with improved NSS and NDS scores. After four days, all respondents demonstrated lower RBG levels and improved DSPN status. Diabetic foot exercise may serve as an effective complementary nursing intervention to improve glycemic control and peripheral nerve function.

Abstract

Hospitalization in preschool children (3–6 years old) often causes psychological crises in the form of anxiety due to separation, pain, and loss of control that can hinder the nursing care process. Jenga play therapy is an effective non-pharmacological nursing intervention as a distraction technique to divert children's attention from fear of the hospital environment. This study aims to analyze the implementation of nursing care in preschool children with a nursing diagnosis of anxiety through Jenga play therapy intervention during hospitalization at Bhayangkara M. Hasan Hospital, Palembang. A descriptive case study design was conducted on three children with a nursing process approach that includes assessment and evaluation. Measurement of anxiety levels was carried out using the Spence Children's Anxiety Scale (SCAS) Preschool instrument. The intervention was given in one session per day for 20 minutes for three consecutive days in June 2026. The results of the implementation showed a decrease in anxiety scores by an average of 6 points. In addition, positive behavioral changes were seen where the child appeared more cooperative, calm, and confident and smiled more on the third day. In conclusion, Jenga play therapy has been proven to be effective in reducing anxiety and can be integrated as an evidence-based intervention in the application of atraumatic care to help the child's psychosocial adaptation process during hospitalization.
