Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect Tropical Forest as teaching material on the aspects of poetry writing skills such as the suitability of contents, diction, imagination, mandate, and attitudes of environmental care in fourth-grade for elementary school students. This research used quantitative research methods with The Matching Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population was the public elementary school in the Rejang Lebong district. The sample was selected by random cluster sampling, namely elementary school number 93 and elementary school number 119 in Rejang Lebong. The independent variable was the Tropical Forest teaching material, while the dependent variable was poetry writing skills for Indonesian subjects and environmental attitudes of science subjects. The instrument for evaluating poetry writing skills used a rubric with intervals of 1 to 4, while a caring attitude used a questionnaire. The data collection technique was done by filling out an assessment questionnaire from the results of writing poetry individually. Data analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25, for: (1) validity and reliability, (2) prerequisite tests, and (3) hypothesis testing. The results of the prerequisite test are unnormal for poetry writing skills variable then data were analyzed using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney analysis. While the caring attitude variable shows the normal distribution, then data were analyzed using the parametric t-test. The experiments showed that there was a significant difference in the poetry writing skills for the suitability of contents and the attitudes of environmental care between students who use Tropical Forest as teaching materials and students who use environmental learning resources around the school. Furthermore, there was no significant difference in writing poetry, diction, imagination, and mandate writing skills between students who use Tropical Forest as teaching materials and students who use environmental learning resources

Abstract

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), introduced by Dave Cormier in 2008, have revolutionized education by providing widespread access to open and participatory online learning. While MOOCs offer broad access and flexibility in learning, users often encounter challenges in selecting appropriate courses. This leads to high dropout rates. To address this issue, this research develops a recommendation system employing the Weighted Hybrid method that combines Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) and Keyword-Based Filtering (KBF). The primary objective of the research is to enhance the accuracy of course recommendations on MOOCs. The findings of this study demonstrate that the Weighted Hybrid method, integrating NMF and KBF, successfully attained a Mean Average Precision (MAP) of 0.1963. This figure signifies an improvement compared to the MAP value of 0.1855 achieved in prior research. This method effectively addresses challenges such as cold start and sparsity, while also improving scalability. Consequently, the Weighted Hybrid approach holds promise for improving the quality of recommendations, enhancing the user's learning experience, and potentially reducing dropout rates in MOOCs.

Abstract

Massive Open Online Courses or MOOCs advocate the "democratization of education”, which makes education available for everyone anywhere and anytime. The number of students who registered for a MOOC demonstrates that their intention to use MOOCs is reasonably high, yet only 7-10% complete the course. This review conducts literature review on frameworks or theories, instruments, and major factors that influence the intention to persist in MOOCs. A total of 150 articles spanning the years 2018–2022 are initially reviewed guided by PRISMA framework, from which 20 are selected based on the selection criteria in this study. Self-developed model and TAM has become the most often used theory to determine a persons’ continuance intention on MOOCs. The majority of studies utilized SEM and PLS-SEM as instruments to analyse the continuance intention data. Perceived usefulness is the most important and influential factor in MOOCs.

Abstract

Dhol is a traditional musical instrument of the Malay Bengkulu used in the Tabut ritual. The learning process for the Dhol musical instrument also takes place at Sanggar Seni Erfam. However, this learning process is not routine. Therefore, a reminder is needed so that they can repeat the beats they have learned at the sanggar. A rhythm game is a type of video game that emphasizes coordination of movements with rhythm or music, making it easier for children to recall the beats they have learned at the sanggar. A Rule-Based algorithm provides clear structure and control in gameplay development. The rule-based algorithm ensures that players start at a low level first, allowing them to understand the basic beats before moving on to more complex ones. With System Usability Scale testing to measure the effectiveness of the rule-based algorithm in the Dhol Beat Rhythm Game, a score of 81.12 was obtained, indicating that it is acceptable or has a good level of usability and can be concluded to be useful. Kegiatan pendampingan bagi guru SD ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan guru tentang media khususnya multimedia pembelajaran IPA, meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam pembuatan multimedia pembelajaran IPA menggunakan Macromedia Flash 8 berbasis discovery learning. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah dengan observasional dan modelling dengan empat fase, yaitu: fase perhatian, fase retensi, fase reproduksi, dan fase motivasi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, dokumentasi dan penyebaran angket. Hasil kegiatan pendampingan menunjukkan peningkatan, yakni (1) pemahaman guru tentang media pembelajaran dengan rata-rata sebesar 80,91 menjadi 92,46 pada posttest; (2) pemahaman guru tentang pembuatan multimedia pembelajaran IPA menggunakan Macromedia Flash 8 berbasis discovery learning dengan rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 80,00 pada pretest menjadi 95,36; (3) keterampilan dalam pembuatan multimedia pembelajaran IPA menggunakan Macromedia Flash 8 berbasis discovery learning dengan nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 72,62 menjadi 90,25 pada posttest. Simpulan kegiatan ini adalah pendampingan guru SD dalam pembuatan multimedia pembelajaran IPA menggunakan Macromedia Flash 8 dapat meningkatkan pemahaman tentang media pembelajaran serta pemahaman dan keterampilan pembuatan multimedia pembelajaran IPA menggunakan Macromedia Flash 8 berbasis discovery learning.

Abstract

Bengkulu memiliki potensi alam yang melimpah. Namun potensi tersebut belum dikelola dengan baik dikarenakan kurangnya sumber daya manusia yang mumpuni. Upaya peningkatan sumber daya manusia dalam pengelolaan potensi alam lokal dapat dimulai sejak pendidikan dasar. Artikel ini berisi tentang deskripsi penerapan pembelajaran muatan lokal di SDN Kota Bengkulu dengan menggunakan aplikasi mobile. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru SDN 8 tentang pembelajaran muatan lokal. Setelah itu, para guru didorong untuk memanfaatkan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi khususnya aplikasi mobile dalam menerapkan pembelajaran muatan lokal tersebut. Kegiatan ini berhasil mengembangkan kurikulum muatan lokal bermuatan potensi alam bengkulu beserta perangkat pembelajarannya untuk kelas 4 semester 1. Selama penerapan, guru juga berhasil memanfaatkan berbagai aplikasi mobile untuk membelajarkan muatan lokal potensi alam bengkulu. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini telah meningkatkan kesadaran pihak sekolah untuk mengangkat potensi yang ada di sekitarnya dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Kepala sekolah, guru, dan para staf sangat antusias dengan kegiatan ini melalui respon positif, dukungan, kritik, dan saran untuk pengembangan pembelajaran muatan lokal lebih lanjut.

Abstract

Background: Effective pedagogy requires innovative media to enhance student literacy and contextual understanding, particularly in local history and culture. This community service project addresses the need for engaging teaching methods by utilizing whiteboard animation to transform collections from the Bengkulu Provincial Museum into accessible learning resources.Aims: This study aims to enhance student literacy in local history and culture and simultaneously strengthen teachers' digital media development competence through the implementation of whiteboard animation–based learning media.Method: The activity was conducted at SMP Negeri 02 Kota Bengkulu, employing three key stages: observation, socialization, and evaluation. The socialization included hands-on training for teachers on creating digital media (using Canva and SpeedPaint) and presenting the new historical content to students. The effectiveness of the learning intervention was quantitatively assessed using the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) method.Results: The intervention yielded significant positive outcomes. Teachers' professional competence in digital animation increased by 60 percentage points, and their satisfaction was 4.6/5. For students, the average literacy score increased by 31.7%, resulting in an N-Gain value of 0.53 (moderate effectiveness). Furthermore, student participation and satisfaction were very high (4.7/5).Conclusion: Whiteboard animation has proven to be an effective and engaging learning model that successfully enhances student literacy while simultaneously supporting the preservation of local history and cultural values in a manner relevant to the digital era.

Abstract

The digital era encourages the transformation of archive management, demanding a standardized system. Based on Indonesian Law No. 43 of 2009, archives are classified into active and inactive. At the Dukcapil Office of Seluma Regency, the management of inactive archives is not yet supported by written guidelines, which poses a risk to information security and access. This research designs Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) based on ISO 15489 and integrates them with a digital archiving system. Qualitative methods were used to explore the process and its impact. The results show that the security score (62) and accessibility score (63) are still relatively low. The designed SOP serves as an operational reference and the foundation for the development of the digital archive information system, which has proven to enhance efficiency and compliance with regulations. This research makes an important contribution to archival policy and suggests evaluating the implementation of SOPs as well as developing a digital system prototype in future studies.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to develop an early detection system for at-risk students using machine learning based on data from the Learning Management System (LMS) rumahilmu.org. The system was designed for the Information Systems Study Programs at the University of Bengkulu, analyzing data from 459 student enrollments across five courses. A total of 37–76 features were extracted from LMS activities to predict students likely to score below the 30th percentile at three strategic time points (25%, 50%, and 75% of the semester). This study implemented a per-class optimization approach, testing 11 algorithms to find the best model for each course. The results showed that no single algorithm was universally superior; the most effective models varied for each course, with Gaussian Process, Logistic Regression, and Voting Classifier being the most frequently chosen. However, evaluation on the test data revealed significant challenges: despite high cross-validation scores (F1-score > 0.80), overfitting and performance degradation occurred. The most critical finding was the model's low capability in detecting the 'At-Risk' minority class, with the Recall (At-Risk) metric reaching 0.00 in 8 out of 15 scenarios. The best detection performance was achieved in the Statistics & Probability course with a Recall of 0.50. The implemented system, featuring a 3-tier architecture (FastAPI and React), provides an interactive dashboard, but its predictive effectiveness for early detection is limited by small and imbalanced datasets.
