Abstract

This study aims to explore the effect of Leadership Self-Efficacy (LSE), Past Leadership Experience (PLE),Organizational Identification (OI), and Perceived Job Stress as an Academic Leader (PJSAL) on AffectiveIdentity-Motivation to Lead (AI-MTL) of lecturers at the X University simultaneously. This study also aims toexplore the role of LSE in mediating relationship between PLE and AI-MTL as well as between PJSAL and AI-MTL. A total of 125 X University lecturers participated in this study (male: 53, female: 72; age range between26-71 years old), with data collected through an online questionnaire. Data analysis then was performed using theHierarchical Multiple Regression and Mediation Analysis. The result shows that there is a simultaneous effect ofLSE, PLE, OI, and PJSAL, in predicting AI-MTL of lecturers at the X University, F(4, 120) = 63.520, p < .001.All variables can explain 67.9% of the AI-MTL variation, R2 = .679. Meanwhile, PJSAL does not provide anymeaningful contribution to the AI-MTL variation. In addition, this study also confirms the role of LSE inmediating the relationship between PLE and AI-MTL partially, c’ = 1.0508, p < .001, and fully mediating therelationship between PJSAL and AI-MTL, c’ = -.006, p > .05. These results emphasize the strong need to identifytalents by using those factors, especially when universities have difficulty in finding their prospective leaders.

Abstract

During the pandemic, consumers are advised to pay attention to health protocols regarding product consumption This study aims to determine the relationship between preferences of evaluating benefit or risk, selection of payment instruments, and places to shop with considerations of health protocols in consumption behavior. To test the hypothesis that payment instruments and places to shop affect the consideration of health protocols in consumer behavior, an online survey was distributed to 1058 participants with age 18-25 years who are currently living in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. Responses were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlatio method. The results showed that the use of cash has a significant relationship with cognitive, affective and behavior dimensions of the health protocol consideration on consumption behavior. However, with the cognitive dimension of health protocol consideration on consumption behavior, the use of cash is negatively correlated. Meanwhile, the choice to shop online has a significant positive correlation with all dimensions of health protocol considerations on consumption behavior. The results indicate that promoting cashless and online consumption are inline with supporting health protocols consideration on consumption behavior.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is a major problem that is currently faced worldwide. As an effort to minimize this problem, the government enforces a health protocol appeal for the Indonesian citizens. The change in the situation affects people’s lives, especially in the economic and trade sector in Indonesia. One of the impacts is a change in people’s assumptions in assessing a product. Currently, health protocols are one of the considerations in consuming products during the pandemic, so that people move to products that can protect themselves from the transmission of Covid-19. The changes in consumer behavior can be explained through one of the dimensions of the Big Five Personality, namely conscientiousness. Conscientiousness can describe individual behavior in maintaining their own health. Therefore, this study wants to see whether there is a relationship between the conscientiousness and the consideration of health protocols in product consumption during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a quantitative approach, with correlational research design. Based on the results of data analysis using Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation, the value obtained was ???????? (1056) = 0.256, p < 0.001. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between conscientiousness and the consideration of health protocols in product consumption during pandemic.

Abstract

Leading a university is generally more complex than a business organization, as the situation requires the presence of a leader who not only meets the criteria but is also willing to lead, a very rarely found combination in universities. Interestingly, although it is not easy to find academics with such qualities, these people still exist because they see the importance of leading for the survival of the organization. Therefore, it becomes interesting to understand how they ascribe meaning to their leadership amid the difficulties they must deal with. This study was conducted using in-depth interviews with 13 academic leaders to ascertain how they ascribe meaning to their leadership. The results of the interviews were then analyzed using the Atlas.ti 8 software. Four interpretive themes emerged from the interviews: (1) the many faces of university leaders; (2) community leadership style; (3) knowledge development and non-profit oriented leadership mission; and (4) corporate leadership.

Abstract

This study aims to see the relationship between neuroticism and the consideration of health protocols in product consumption during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although various studies have shown a relationship between individual differences and adherence to health protocols during the pandemic, there have not been many studies that specifically discuss the relationship of neuroticism with health protocol considerations in product consumption during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used a quantitative method with a survey design. A total of 1058 respondents with an age range of 18-25 years participated in this study, which was obtained using a convenience sampling technique. Correlation analysis using Spearman's Rank Order Correlation test showed that there was a positive relationship between Neuroticism personality type and health protocol considerations in product consumption (rs = .139, p<.001) although the correlation strength was weak. The results of this study show how a person considers a health protocol in product consumption is not solely determined by personality but also other contextual factors.

Abstract

Individuals with special needs (IBK) are defined as people or children who have limitations in cognitive, physical, and emotional functions that hinder the individual's ability to develop, either classified as learning difficulties, ADHD, mental retardation, physical-sensory disorders, speech and language disorders, autism and emotional and behavioral disorders. This condition requires IBK to get a special intervention when looking for work. Although many IBK already has various skills, they do not yet fully have a job. Based on the preliminary studies, IBK has various skills in photography, graphic design, content writing, administration, and food, which are studied both formally and informally. The objectives of this community service activity are to (a) provide knowledge about work preparation to individuals with special needs; (b) map the potential and skills of individuals with special needs; (c) provide an overview of the readiness of participants to work formally and informally. This service program is implemented in the form of webinars and action plans using CV and psychological tests as supporting data. From the activity, which was attended by 21 participants, a mapping of four areas of the participants’ work was obtained, namely culinary with technique, writing with the teacher, graphic design, and photography with dedication. In addition, 81% of participants indicated their readiness to work. For further activities, it is recommended to invite participants to carry out real work activities and provide assistance ship, especially to the 19% less active participants.

Abstract

This study aimed to adapt the measurement of Interest in Research developed by Bishop and Bieschke (1998). This development is necessary to map the potential of lecturers in research interest. This further will be useful for the development of programs or policies that facilitate the increasing of lecturer interest towards research. The measurement tools that have been adapted here, comprising Research Self-Efficacy and Interest in Research. Based on previous finding, these two were more significant in predicting Research Productivity (Bieschke, Herbert, and Bard, 1998). The development of these measurements was analyzed by the construct validity testing, criterion-based validity testing, and reliability testing. The result of the construct validity testing of the Research Self-Efficacy by using Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA) has exhibited three dimensions namely: Research Implementation, Research Planning, and Research Teamwork. The result of criterion-based validity testing has indicated a significant positive correlation between Research Self-Efficacy and Research Productivity (0.321) and between Interest in Research and Research Productivity (0.229). Whilst the result of reliability testing has indicated that both measuring instruments have high reliability, that is equal to 0.981 for Research Self-Efficacy, and 0.953 for Interest in Research.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the Perceived Job Stress as an Academic Leader (PJSAL) instrument based on a modification of the Dean's Stress Inventory (DSI) instrument (Wild, et al., 2003). DSI is selected because it can accurately identify the potential sources of stress for a dean, which is also applicable in the context of academic leadership in general. This study involved 214 lecturers who responded to the PJSAL instrument via Google Form. Its construct validity was then assessed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), while its reliability was assessed based on Cronbach's Alpha values. The findings show that the PJSAL instrument has strong construct validity and good reliability (α = .965 for the entire instrument; α = .797- .918 for each subscale). The results of the EFA also reveal the existence of 10 factors in the PJSAL instrument, which are extracted from the 38 items composing it. The instrument is found not to be much different from DSI, except for the emergence of a new factor called role ambiguity.
