Abstract

This study aims to develop the Perceived Job Stress as an Academic Leader (PJSAL) instrument based on a modification of the Dean's Stress Inventory (DSI) instrument (Wild, et al., 2003). DSI is selected because it can accurately identify the potential sources of stress for a dean, which is also applicable in the context of academic leadership in general. This study involved 214 lecturers who responded to the PJSAL instrument via Google Form. Its construct validity was then assessed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), while its reliability was assessed based on Cronbach's Alpha values. The findings show that the PJSAL instrument has strong construct validity and good reliability (α = .965 for the entire instrument; α = .797- .918 for each subscale). The results of the EFA also reveal the existence of 10 factors in the PJSAL instrument, which are extracted from the 38 items composing it. The instrument is found not to be much different from DSI, except for the emergence of a new factor called role ambiguity.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic caused working mothers to work from home, while simultaneously taking care for their family especially their children, as well as their daily household chores. Should things continue to be the same, working mothers might experience stress due to conflict of having multiple roles. The purpose of this research is to draw an overview of stress induced by having multiple roles experienced by working mothers, paying attention to their ways to alleviate the stress as well. Research was conducted using phenomenology qualitative method, collecting data in interviews with subjects of three (3) working mothers working from home in pandemic, have children ranging from zero (0) to twelve (12) years old of age, and currently not having any forms of household assistance such as maids and/or butlers to assist them reducing their roles in taking care of daily household chores. Research output yields answers that working mothers do experience stress from having multiple roles that conflict in terms of time, strain, and behavior. Various stress-coping strategies such as being more active, constructing plans, accepting stressful conditions, seeking religious aid, also seeking both instrumental and emotional aid, are being utilized. Research output also indicates that practice of working from home during the pandemic yields potential to induce stress to work-from-home working mothers as consequences of having multiple roles conflicting one another. Helping aids from work environment and family are needed to assist working mothers to help them deal with said conflicts.

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic forced the Government of Indonesia to shut down all the schools at all levels including high school and change it to online learning to respond to this situation. With these transitions along with increased demands that must be managed may cause stress for high school teachers. Moreover, this condition can affect their performance in teaching and may impact educational quality. This study aims to describe work stressors and coping strategies for high school teachers in online learning during the pandemic. In this research, the method used was a qualitative with phenomenological approach. The data are taken from three high school teachers who experienced a transition from face-to-face to online teaching in South Tangerang with interview technique. The results show that during this pandemic, teachers are experiencing various stressors including financial decline, adjustment to policies and technology, increased workload, and multiple role conflicts. Several coping strategies are used to deal with their stress such as emotion-focused (escapism, self-blame, and seeking meaning) and problem-focused coping strategies (instrumental action, caution, and negotiation). The results indicate that it is necessary to pay attention to teacher’s mental health conditions during the pandemic and provide support needed to help them dealing with their work stressor.

Abstract

During the pandemic, many information about the function of various food and health supplement products for prevention/recovery from Covid-19 infection circulated through EWOM (electronic word of mouth), which was believed by consumers, even though not all of them were proven to be true. This study aims to examine the role of perceived EWOM credibility on consumer satisfaction with food/health supplement products during the COVID-19 pandemic. The theoretical framework guiding this research is Source Credibility Theory, which provides a lens to examine how the credibility of EWOM sources affects consumer satisfaction. The participants were 103 people aged 19-25 years who had purchased and consumed food/health supplement products during the COVID-19 pandemic and had read EWOM about information/reviews of the products they consumed. Participants filled out a questionnaire that measured their perceived EWOM credibility and consumer satisfaction. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that perceived EWOM credibility positively influenced consumer satisfaction. Aspects of perceived EWOM credibility, included argument quality and homophily had a significant influence on consumer satisfaction. The quality of arguments positively contributes to enhancing customer satisfaction, whereas homophily, on the other hand, has a negative impact. Consequently, a heightened perception of EWOM credibility, particularly concerning the quality of argument presented directly correlated with increased participant satisfaction with the food/health supplement products they had consumed. The findings of this study hold practical implications for the promotion of food and health supplements, emphasizing the significance of EWOM credibility. Additionally, the results underscore the importance of fostering information literacy among consumers in this domain. For instance, strategies could include the dissemination of infographics illustrating methods to assess information quality and discern genuine information from hoaxes.   On the other hand, relying solely on information based on shared backgrounds does not fully support the attainment of satisfaction in consumption.

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelagic nation with natural beauty and diverse world‑class tourist destinations. The tourism sector has experienced rapid growth post‑pandemic, although it still leans toward well‑established destinations. Therefore, identifying destination attributes is crucial for understanding the attributes considered important by Indonesian tourist. This study used a quantitative design, enriched with a qualitative approach. Data were collected from 332 respondents through convenience sampling. It further utilized the Destination Attributes associated with Tourists’ Revisit Intention instrument modified for the Indonesian context. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results reveal that, quantitatively, the most important attribute for Indonesian tourists is the ambience of tourist attractions, followed by other attributes. This finding aligns with the qualitative insights, which highlight the significance of safety and comfort at destinations. Regarding tourism type, nature‑themed attributes are deemed most important and should be enhanced with supporting facilities and local hospitality. Nevertheless, this study has limitations because the participants were urban, young, and highly educated, limiting generalizability beyond this group. The study finally underscores the need for government and tourist managers to incorporate these findings to ensure the sustainability of tourism destinations.
