Abstract

Kabupaten Pesawaran merupakan wilayah dengan tingkat endemisitas malaria yang tinggi di Provinsi Lampung, karena sebagian wilayahnya berupa pantai berawa dan terdapat tambak yang terbengkalai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik tempat perindukan vektor malaria dan hubungan antara faktor abiotik dengan kepadatan larva nyamuk pada tempat perindukan vektor malaria di daerah rawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi dengan mengamati faktorfaktor ekologi berupa faktor fisik dan kimia (suhu air, kedalaman air, pH, kadar oksigen terlarut (DO), dan salinitas air,), dan faktor biologi yaitu jenis tumbuhan air, hewan yang terdapat di sekitar perindukan, dan kepadatan larva pada tiga rawa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik tempat perindukan vektor malaria yaitu, suhu 26,220C, Kedalaman 18,2 cm, pH 6,77, DO 2,71 mg/L, dan Salinitas 3,430/00, dan. Kepadatan larva hanya ditemukan pada Rawa 2 yaitu 0,33 ekor/250 ml kemudian jenis tumbuhan yang ditemukan di sekitar tempat perindukan yaitu kangkung, alga, pohon kelapa, dan pohon asam serta hewan air berupa ikan mujair dan keong. Nilai kimia seperti DO 2,71 mg/L dan salinitas 3,430/00 yang kecil ini tidak mendukung kehidupan larva sehingga hubungan antara faktor fisik dan kimia dengan kepadatan larva tidak memberikan korelasi signifikan pada taraf nyata 0,05.

Abstract

Hipertensi adalah keadaan seseorang dengan peningkatan tekanan darah di atas normal. Data pra-survei menunjukkan angka kejadian hipertensi di Kota Metro tahun 2017 mencapai 1.839 kasus dan di Puskesmas Metro Pusat mencapai 481 kasus. Hipertensi berkaitan dengan resiko penyakit kardiovaskuler. Upaya menurunkan tekanan darah penderita hipertensi dengan mengkonsumsi buah yang tinggi kalium seperti belimbing manis. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengetahui efektifitas belimbing manis (Averrhoa carambola Linn) sebagai anti hipertensi. Desain penelitian pre-experiment designs rancangan one group pre-test post-test. Sampel sebanyak 23 orang menggunakan teknik purposive sampling sesuai kriteria inklusi ekslusi. Analisis univariat pre-post intervensi & analisis bivariat menggunakan uji paired t-test. Hasil uji statistik rerata tekanan darah penderita hipertensi pre-test 149,65/94,87 mmHg dan post-test pemberian belimbing manis 139,61/89,52 mmHg. Hasil analisis paired sample t-test didapatkan p-value 0,00 < a 0,05 . Belimbing manis efektif sebagai anti hipertensi dengan rerata tekanan darah setelah diberi perlakuan lebih rendah secara bermakna dibandingkan sebelum diberi perlakuan.

Abstract

Background: Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the bronchial tree that emerges as a response to exogenous factors, such as allergens, irritants, and infections. Some asthmatic patients had been reported having symptoms of asthma due to house-dust mites (HDM) allergen exposure. It is associated with immune responses which were increased in the form of specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) production against HDM allergens. This case-control study aimed to determine the HDM profiles in persistent asthmatic patients, including density of mites, as well as its relationship with specific IgE anti-HDM serum levels.Materials and Methods: A total of 13 patients with persistent asthma and 12 control patients had their specific anti-HDM IgE levels examined using Immulite 2000 xpi. The house dust samples were taken and analyzed with the Fain method.Results: The results have shown that 69% of patients in the persistent asthma group and 25% of normal patients were positive for IgE anti-HDM. Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus is a predominant species with a total of 120 mites (83.9%) of 143 mites. Correlation analysis indicated a positive relationship between IgE anti-HDM levels within the serums of patients and the density of mites in the dust obtained from bedroom spaces (Spearmen Rho, R=0.35, p=0.04).Conclusion: Positive IgE anti-HDM patients in the persistent asthma group were higher (69%) than those in the clinically normal group (25%). The density of mites were dominated by D. Pteronyssinus. The bedroom-dust mites density revealed a positive correlation with serum IgE anti-HDM levels in persistent asthma patients.Keywords: asthma, density, Dermatophagoides spp.,IgE

Abstract

Transmisi Toxoplasma gondiimudah terjadi karena kemampuannya dalam memodifikasi perilaku hospes perantara. Kemampuan Toxoplasma gondiiyang dapat menginfeksi otak hospes perantara dapat mengubah perilaku hospes. Perubahan perilaku hospes tersebut dapat membantu kelangsungan hidup Toxoplasma gondii sehingga transmisi akan berlangsung terus menerus. Faktor yang diduga menyebabkan perubahan perilaku hospes perantara adalah naiknya kadar dopamin pada infeksi kronis Toxoplasma gondii dan meningkatnya sinyal dopamin tersebut berpegaruh dalam perilaku hospes yang mendorong hospes untuk mengeksplor lingkungan sekitar, termasuk urin kucing.

Abstract

Asma adalah gangguan inflamasi kronik pada saluran pernapasan yang terjadi karena respons tubuh terhadap berbagai faktor eksogen, antara lain alergen, iritasi, dan infeksi virus. Faktor eksogen penyebab asma antara lain alergen yang berasal dari kecoa, tungau, kucing, serbuk sari, dan jamur. Prevalensi asma di dunia semakin meningkat dalam beberapa dekade terakhir, diperkirakan meningkat menjadi 400 juta orang pada tahun 2025. Sekitar 50-80% angka kejadian asma di dunia tercetus karena debu rumah. Sementara itu, 90% pasien asma di Indonesia rentan terhadap pajanan debu rumah dan tungau debu rumah (TDR). Tungau debu rumah merupakan sumber alergen penyebab alergi, misalnya rhinokonjungtivitis alergi, asma, dermatitis atopik, dan penyakit kulit lain.Interaksi gen dan lingkungan menyebabkan inflamasi saluran napas kronik pada pasien asma. Interaksi dapat terjadi dengan berbagai faktor lingkungan, yang terpenting adalah alergen tungau dan polusi udara.Pasien asma mengalami perkembangan gejala asma karena pajanan debu rumah. Hal itu dikaitkan dengan meningkatnya respons imun berupa produksi IgE spesifik terhadap alergen TDR.

Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are bacteria that can cause infections. Prevention can be done by cleaning the body with soap. Soap is a skin cleansing preparation made from a saponification process between oil and organic or inorganic bases. Pineapple and durian peel contain active antibacterial compounds, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of solid soap combined with pineapple peel and durian peel extracts against Staphylococcus aureus. The research method used was a laboratory experimental method with a solid soap formulation combining pineapple peel and durian peel extracts. Solid soap formulations are tested for bacteria using the hole/well method. The formulations used are F0 (soap base), F1 (0 pineapple peel extract and 4% durian peel), F2 (1% pineapple peel extract and 3% durian peel), F3 (2% pineapple peel extract and 2% durian peel), F4 (pineapple peel 3%, durian peel 1%), F5 (pineapple peel extract 4% and durian peel 0%), and a positive control (solid antibacterial bath soap brand x). A solid soap preparation has been made and has fulfilled the requirements for evaluating the quality of soap preparations, including organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, foam height tests, and stability tests. The results of tests on bacteria showed that the F0 inhibition zone was nonexistent, F1 was 9.72 mm, F2 was 11.31 mm, F3 was 11.73 mm, F4 was 12.15 mm, F5 was 10.34 mm, and the positive control was 14.18 mm. The conclusion of this study was that the best formulation with the largest zone of inhibition was at F3 of 13.73 mm with a strong inhibitory response to Staphylococcus aureus. Abstract

Hyperlipidemia is a lipid disorder characterized by increased levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL or decreased HDL in the blood. A High lipid level is a strong marker of the risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. The research aims to identifity Effect of Binahong leaf infusion (Anredera cordifolia) on Lipid Profile in Hyperlipidemia Rats. Experimental study of pretest-posttest control group design. Rats were given a high-fat diet (HFD) and Propylthiouracil (PTU) 1% for 21 days. After hyperlipidemia archieved, rats were divided randomly into five groups: negative control, positive control, treatment groups with Binahong leaf infusion (Anredera cordifolia) 100, 200 and 300 mg/200BW/day. Blood was taken for lipid profile measurements in hyperlipidemia conditions and after treatment with Binahong leaf infusion (Anredera cordifolia) for 14 days. The statistical analysis that had been done used ANOVA with an LSD test. The result showed that giving of Binahong leaf infusion (Anredera cordifolia) 100, 200 and 300 mg/200BW/day in hyperlipidemia rats reducted of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and increased HDL levels significantly (p<0,05) than negative control but less effective compared to positive control. Binahong leaf infusion (Anredera cordifolia) has been shown to effectively reducted of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and increased HDL levels in hyperlipidemia rats.
