Abstract

Lingkungan perumahan di sekitar Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) sangatlah padat. Banyak perumahan warga yang dulunya hanya ditempati bersama keluarga kini telah banyak diubah menjadi multi kamar sebagai tempat tinggal sementara atau kos bagi para pendatang. Rata-rata para pendatang ini berstatus mahasiswa. Dengan makin padatnya penduduk yang tinggal di Jalan Jombang, problem sosialnya pun ikut meningkat. Problem tersebut timbul akibat kurangnya jalin persaudaraan antara warga setempat dengan warga pendatang yang menghuni kos. Hal ini disebabkan tidak adanya sarana yang mempertemukan kedua belah pihak dalam satu forum bersama untuk menyamakan persepsi tentang aturan moral maupun norma yang berlaku di lingkungan tersebut. Untuk itu perlu diadakan ruang dialog untuk mengenalkan adat istiadat yang dihayati oleh warga yang menempati lingkungan di wilayah Jalan Jombang tersebut dengan nama Srawung, Semaur, Akur. Srawung Semaur Akur merupakan metode yang dipakai sebagai basis sosial menciptakan ruang publik (public sphare). Hasilnya 1) medium pertemuan Srawung, Semaur, Akur cukup efektif menciptakan rasa empati dan saling menghormati antara warga setempat dengan para penghuni kos/kontrakan yang mayoritas pendatang. 2) pendatang maupun warga setempat kini dapat merasakan rasa aman, nyaman dan tenteram secara lebih baik tanpa ada kecurigaan berlebih terhadap pendatang. 3) nilai-nilai Pancasila dapat ditemukan dalam implementasi Srawung-Semaur Akur, khususnya sila keempat Pancasila.

Abstract

This article analyses legal strategies for addressing cockfighting gambling in Indonesia, proposing a shift from repressive law enforcement to an approach based on public legal awareness. Traditionally, efforts to combat cockfighting have been punitive, which often clashes with the local population's views of cockfighting as a hobby or tradition. Employing empirical legal research, this paper investigates shifts in societal views, revealing that cockfighting is increasingly seen as entertainment or cultural practice rather than an illicit gambling activity. The findings suggest legal strategies focused on empowerment, such as promoting rooster breeding for skill and beauty contests, could redirect public enthusiasm from gambling to non-violent forms. This paper advocates for legal reforms prioritizing education and empowerment over raids, aiming to align law enforcement with evolving social attitudes.

Abstract

Prime Minister Sutan Sjahrir's political policies promoted progressive social democratic values. The concept of social democracy is not merely a mechanical combination of socialism and democracy. Instead, it views the two as two sides of the same coin that complement and reinforce each other. This research examines Sutan Sjahrir's socio-democratic ideas, which are analyzed using Jürgen Habermas's political philosophy theory. The aim is to identify the socio-democratic ideas promoted by Sutan Sjahrir, which will be reviewed from the perspective of Jürgen Habermas's political philosophy. This study employs a literature review method, which is analyzed using content analysis. This method is used to collect and analyze the content of a text, including elements such as words, image meanings, symbols, ideas, themes, and various forms of messages that can be conveyed. The results of this research show (1) Sutan Sjahrir's socio-democratic ideas regarding the separation of powers, social democracy, true independence, equality, and social justice. (2) Sutan Sjahrir's socio-democratic ideas on the separation of powers, social democracy, true independence, equality, and social justice are relevant to Habermas' ideas on the public sphere and deliberative democracy, which emphasize active citizen participation in political decision-making

Abstract

The essence of tolerance in this era often collided with the conflict between the idea of ​​inclusivity and the idea of ​​exclusivity towards the democratic values ​​of citizenship. Surveys from various social and educational institutions that wish to develop the primacy of tolerance, namely humanity, are trapped in limited narratives about behaviour and perspectives through schematic questions. Tolerance is a phenomenon with articulation manifested in political policies and the facilities provided. Therefore, the nature of tolerance needs to be sued again. This article is analyzed using literature and case studies in the mass media. The results of the analysis of this article are (a) the ontological status of tolerance in Indonesia is humanity, justice and freedom or independence as a nation, (b) tolerance is a concrete attitude and behaviour whobehaviourrement is through pro-equality citizens policies and is realized in available public facilities, and (c) efforts to achieve tolerance can only be realized by starting authentic political practices, namely politics that stops the arbitrary desire of the authorities to return to the awareness that politics is a way of liberation as well as a way to disagree.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the essence of professor and doctoral degrees in academia and the relationship of academic degrees as a capital commodity favored by politicians from Pierre Bourdieu’s perspective. The method in this study is a literature study carried out systematically through the stages of topic identification, collection of relevant literature, critical analysis of content, and compilation of results in a narrative framework. Data were collected from various sources such as journal articles, books, and relevant academic documents. Data analysis was carried out by deeply examining the arguments in the literature. The results of the study show that doctoral and professorial degrees are ethical achievements awarded by higher education institutions to individuals after meeting academic and pedagogical standards. Academic degrees have now become economic commodities for politicians to perpetuate domination. Academic degrees based on Pierre Bourdieu’s perspective can be understood as a form of symbolic capital that is often used to strengthen positions in social and political structures. The commodification of degrees not only reduces the intrinsic value of academic degrees, but also reduces public trust in the higher education system.

Abstract

Problems that arise in the classroom learning process suggest that some students may not be paying sufficient attention to teaching and learning activities. This condition has an impact on the low effectiveness of learning and makes students tend to be more passive, such as not daring to express their opinions, having difficulty in making decisions, and showing high dependence on others. This study aims to measure the level of learning interest of students at SDI AN-NUR using a quantitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 25 fifth-grade students. The learning media used were the national wheel as a means to increase student involvement and participation. This study used a quantitative method in the form of a pretest and posttest of students, as well as using the national wheel indicator in the form of a satisfaction questionnaire from educators and students in the application of learning media. Data analysis was carried out technically through score calculations, pretest and posttest grouping, and learning media suitability. The results showed that the average score using the national wheel media was 72.2 (pretest) and 87.36 (posttest) after using the national wheel method. The gain score between the pretest and posttest scores was 15.16. It is hoped that the implementation of national education media will help students become more active in the learning process, increase their courage in expressing their opinions, and support the development of independent thinking skills more optimally.
