Abstract

Kegiatan telah dilakukan di SMK Dharmawanita Gresik, yang terletak di Jalan Arif Rahman Hakim Gresik. Bentuk kegiatan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan guru – guru dalam bentuk workshop yang diselenggarakan selama 2 hari, yaitu pada hari Rabu dan Kamis, tanggal 11 dan 12 Maret 2020. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan mutu pendidikan melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan penerapan Student Respond System (SRS) dengan menggunakan platform pembelajaran Kahoot. Media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi adalah salah satu upaya peningkatan pengembangan diri guru untuk beradaptasi dengan era teknologi. Kahoot sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi akan membantu guru untuk menyampaikan materi yang diajarkan, serta melatih siswa untuk lebih berani dalam mengemukakan pendapat. Diharapkan sesudah mengikuti pelatihan cara pemakian Kahoot untuk mengevaluasi serta memperkuat materi terhadap siswa, guru – guru di SMK Dharmawanita Gresik bisa memakai Kahoot dalam proses belajar mengajar di kelas, serta menjadkannya sebagai media pembelajaran yang efektif, yang bisa membuat siswa lebih aktif demi tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran.

Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, pendidikan merupakan salah satu kebutuhan sangat penting dalam kehidupan saat ini yang harus dipenuhi oleh manusia. Tingkat Pendidikan menjadi tolak ukur untuk kemajuan suatu wilayah, daerah ataupun negara. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh motivasi dan disiplin kerja terhadap kinerja guru SMK Dharma Wanita Gresik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif ekploraitf, dengan menggunakan teknik analisis Regresi Linear Berganda. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh guru SMK Dharma Wanita yaitu sebanyak 34 orang, dengan teknik penentuan sampel adalah sampling jenuh sehingga didapatkan jumlah sampel sebanyak 34 orang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial variabel motivasi (X1) mampu meningkatkan kinerja (Y), begitu juga dengan variabel disiplin kerja (X2) didapatkan hasil mampu meningkatkan kinerja (Y) guru. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil pengolahan data menggunakan SPSS versi 26.0 pada uji t didapatkan nilai probabilitas signifikansi untuk motivasi sebesar 0.000 dengan nilai beta (B) sebesar 0.659, sedangkan nilai probabilitas signifikansi untuk disiplin kerja adalah 0,001 dengan nilai beta (B) sebesar 0,408. Sedangkan untuk nilai signifikansi uji simultan (Uji F) didapatkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000, dimana nilai signifikansi tersebut kurang dari 0,05, sehingga dapat disimpulan bahwa secara simultan variable motivasi dan disiplin kerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja guru SMK Dharma Wanita Gresik. Dari hasil tersebut dinyatakan bahwa baik secara parsial (uji t) maupun secara simultan (uji F) menyatakan bahwa variable motivasi dan disiplin kerja mempunyai pengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kinerja guru.

Abstract

This study reports a case study of english language students and rural area teachers. The purpose of this study is to explore the development of strategies and concepts of language learning on the use of technology media in language learning in rural areas, as well as to determine the extent to which these strategies are feasible to be applied in the learning process despite the inherent mother tongue in communication habits, shortage of english teachers, media learning and limited understanding of basic english. This research has used a qualitative research method with a case study approach. Interview data, observation, and questionnaire narration from language students in this rural area have revealed that their success is mainly based on the V-log, which has increased understanding, motivation, and confidence in learning the language for rural area students. The findings reveal that native students and teachers feel how V-Log helps them understand learning english in emergency remote teaching, students' motivation and confidence to practice and understand english, planning strategies and concepts of learning more efficiently in the future by using technology. Abstract

University of Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) was one of the colleges established in east Java province as the responsible manager of the essential ecosystem area (KEE) mangrove Ujungpangkah. This activity is intended to socialize the importance of ecological education in supporting the success of the deployment of KEE mangrove ujungpangkah status. This study method was a survey conducted by the questionnaire spread to 40 local teachers from elementary school to high school. The questionnaires are collected through the google form. The responders' answers are analyzed descriptively based on their centrality and diversity analysis. The solution in an essay is based on its essence, based on the impelling of ecological education at KEE mengrokah. Based on the results, 100% of respondents consider it is essential to promote ecological education in the Gresik area. 25% do not know about KEE, and 75% have found out about KEE. Based on the data obtained, it is concluded that ecological education needs to be performed and socialized to the community so that the participation from the community is also increasing.

Abstract

Community service activities are carried out at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik which is located on JL. Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo No. 162, Setigi, Randuagung, Gresik. The form of this activity is an outdoor activity of an English Camp which was held for two days from October 17-18, 2021. This activity aims to improve students' speaking skills. The implementation of this English Camp assistance was carried out using need analysis activity by conducting interviews with English teachers at the school. The results show that students want a form of English learning that is different from what they receive in class and can implement in daily activities, especially during school hours. Furthermore, it is hoped that the output of the activity will make students more motivated to improve their speaking skills. In addition, teachers can also facilitate with various interactive learning media so that they can create fun learning activities.

Abstract

Zoom Application is widely known as one of the most popular video conference applications used in online learning process during COVID-19 outbreak. Zoom application is considered as an interactive learning platform that enables students to interact with each other online. It provides lots of features for online learning that help students improve their speaking skill better. Therefore, this study specifically examined the perception of English students toward zoom application in online learning process. The research design used was a combined quantitative and qualitative to get more detailed information. The data collection used was in the form of questionnaire consisted of aspect of perception and speaking performance aspect. Unstructured interview in focus group discussion was used to support the result from questionnaire. The result showed that students had positive responses on their perception toward the use of Zoom application. Most of the students responded that Zoom application helped them perform speaking activity. The result of interview in focus group discussion also showed reasons that most students chose using Zoom for their speaking performance because it was easy to use and provided useful features for interaction with their teacher and other students. However, the main problem faced by students while using zoom application was internet connection. This gave bad effect for their learning process because they could not catch some of the material explained by the lecturer.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris merupakan Bahasa asing yang dipelajari di sekolah-sekolah di Indonesia. Meskipun digolongkan sebagai Bahasa asing, penggunaan Bahasa Inggris memiliki peranan penting terutama dalam bidang pendidikan. Di kabupaten Gresik, Jawa Timur, peran Bahasa Inggris sangat dominan karena Gresik merupakan kota industri dengan banyak perusahaan dan pabrik yang mengedepankan sumber daya manusia yang memiliki keahlian berbahasa inggris. Oleh karena itu, banyak sekolah di Gresik yang mengutamakan penguasaan Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa mereka. Di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik, masih terdapat beberapa kendala dalam pembelajaran Bahasa inggris terutama pada pembelajaran listening. Banyak para siswa yang menganggap keterampilan listening sangat sulit untuk dikuasai dikarenakan siswa cenderung lebih gemar belajar listening dengan berbagai metode interaktif yang lebih dapat memudahkan mereka dalam mendengarkan audio-audio percakapan. Pihak sekolah SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik menjelaskan bahwa terdapat masalah dalam menyajikan metode pembelajaran listening yang interaktif yaitu; (1) keterbatasan sumber audio listening yang autentik dan mengikuti tren, (2) terbatasnya perangkat lunak yang dapat menunjang keahlian para guru dalam mempersiapkan pembelajaran listening, dan (3) kurangnya keahlian guru dalam memanfaatkan media interaktif. Solusi yang ditawarkan pada pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah dengan memberikan pelatihan kepada para guru di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik untuk dapat meningkatkan kualitas kegiatan pembelajaran listening dalam kelas Bahasa Inggris melalui pengintegrasian teknologi digital. Prosesnya meliputi pelatihan awal, diikuti dengan pendampingan penerapan hasil pelatihan dan diakhiri dengan evaluasi hasil implementasi. Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran Listening, Kualitas Pembelajaran

Abstract

Collocation is also a good way to memorize new words. Words that are naturally associated in context are more effectively understood than those not associated; vocabulary is better taught in context; context alone is inadequate without deliberate connection. Context and deliberate association, particularly collocations, offer connections that allow learners to understand thoroughly the meaning of a word and to add it to their existing vocabulary. The aim of correct collocation during a conversation between a pilot and air traffic controller is to minimize the risk o misunderstandings a well-defined set of words are used in mostly the same sequence when clearances are given by the Air Traffic Controller and read back by Pilots.

Abstract

This English language learning initiative, focused on acquiring new vocabulary, implemented a Flipped Classroom approach utilizing Quizlet as a Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) program for the experimental group. The research took place at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik, East Java, Indonesia, during the 2023/2024 academic year. The homogeneity of the 59 samples was verified through Levene's test, with a significance value of 0.060 based on average pre-test scores, indicating homogeneity as the significance level was >0.05. Subsequently, pre-test and post-test data were collected from 12th-grade students in the social sciences and humanities (IPS/Shosum) program. Descriptive statistics were applied to analyze both groups' pre-test and post-test data, along with the non-parametric Mann Whitney T-Test, resulting in an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.071, indicating rejection of the alternative hypothesis as it exceeded 0.05. Nevertheless, it is imperative to address various aspects in future research and practice to explore further potential benefits or drawbacks of incorporating Quizlet in the flipped classroom, including aspects like student engagement, motivation, and long-term retention of material. Additionally, subsequent studies could delve into evaluating the effectiveness of combining Quizlet with other instructional methods or technologies within the flipped classroom framework.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of the KWL technique in improving students' reading comprehension skills. Data will be analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the observation checklist, field notes, and questionnaires were used to analyze the results of the pre-test and post-test. The observation results in the form of percentages were that for the first meeting it was 36% (very bad), for the second meeting it was 53% (fair), for the third meeting it was 63% (fair), while for the last meeting it was 80% (very good). The second success criterion is that 75% of students are actively involved in the teaching and learning process. The researcher will provide several recommendations for English teachers, schools and for future researchers related to this research.
