Abstract

Telah diselenggarakan kegiatan pelatihan IoT untuk guru dan siswa sekolah tingkat menengah (MA, SMK, dan SMA) di Kabupaten Purwakarta, Jawa Barat pada 14 Agustus 2019. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan IoT kepada siswa/i, sehingga mereka memiliki bekal pengetahuan serta skill pada era industri 4.0 seperti dewasa ini. Kegiatan diselenggarakan oleh Program Studi Sistem Telekomunikasi Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia kampus daerah di Purwakarta, Jawa Barat. Sistem IoT yang diusung adalah mesin kehadiran berbasis radio frequency identification (RFID) yang terhubung ke Internet. Peserta juga berasal dari Guru, dengan harapan alat hasil pelatihan dapat lebih cepat untuk diimplementasikan di Sekolah asal karena sejauh ini sistem kehadiran masih manual (sebagian sekolah tertentu). Sebanyak 24 peserta hadir dalam kegiatan ini, yakni 12 sekolah dengan komposisi satu guru satu siswa/i. Metode pelaksanaan pelatihan adalah pemaparan teori, praktik (perakitan mesin kehadiran), dan evaluasi dengan cara memberikan angket pada setiap peserta. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa peserta puas akan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini. Tujuan lain dari PkM ini adalah dalam rangka memperkenalkan Prodi baru (Sistem Telekomunikasi) yang tahun 2019 ini baru saja dibuka. Dengan demikian, dalam jangka panjang dapat terjalin suatu link antara sekolah menengah tingkat atas di Purwakarta dengan Prodi Sistel melalui program pelatihan lainnya.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ditujukan untuk memberikan pelatihan pembuatan buku digital bagi guru-guru produktif Lab School UPI Purwakarta. Kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan tatap muka (luring) dengan menerapkan protokol kesehatan Covid-19 dan diikuti oleh 9 (Sembilan) orang guru. Materi disajikan dengan tiga bentuk, yaitu secara langsung, Video conference dengan Zoom, dan pemutaran video pelatihan. Terdapat empat buah software berbasis open-source web tool yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini, yaitu Canva untuk membuat cover buku, Vocaroo sebagai audio explainer, Animaker untuk membuat video berbasis motion graphic, dan hasil ketiganya dikombinasikan oleh Sigil menjadi buku digital berformat EPUB. Pelatihan menggunakan format sharing session yang mengkombinasikan kegiatan klasikal dan praktik. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa melalui pelatihan ini para peserta mendapatkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman praktik langsung menyusun buku digital. Para peserta mampu mengoperasikan web tool tersebut sehingga dapat membuat cover buku, merekam audio online, membuat video animasi, dan mengintegrasikannya dalam buku digital secara mandiri. Peserta sangat puas terhadap isi materi, cara penyampaian materi, dan pelaksanaan praktik, dengan persentase secara berurutan yaitu 86.2%, 85%, dan 88%. Ketrampilan baru yang dimiliki oleh guru pasca pelatihan ini diharapkan akan diterapkan sebagai salah satu bahan ajar saat pembelajaran jarak jauh (online learning) di SD Lab School UPI Purwakarta selama masa pandemi Covid-19.

Abstract

The greenhouse concept for the cultivation of ornamental plants can optimize the conditioning of a good planting environment because it can protect plants from direct rain, can distribute temperature, divide sunlight evenly and regulate the intensity of watering plants regularly. The important thing to pay attention to in the cultivation of ornamental plants is the intensity of watering plants. Regular watering of plants can be optimized with the help of Internet of Things (IoT) technology so that the process of watering plants becomes a smart watering system. In this study, automatic watering of ornamental plants was divided into 3 zones based on the characteristics of humidity, watering time, and required water quantity. The smart watering system for 3 zones is implemented in the form of a prototype including a monitoring system based on the MQTT protocol

Abstract

ABSTRACTInternet of Things (IoT)  is one of the technological paradigms developed in the industrial revolution 4.0. The concept of IoT is an object can transfer data over a network without interaction from human-to-human or from human-to-computer. One of the IoT implementations in the education sector is the attendance system using IoT-based Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).  The attendance machines such as fingerprints and face recognition have a relatively high-cost compared to RFID machines. Hence, if the number of attendance machines within the School is limited, it will be less efficient for a large number of students and vulnerable to queuing. The RFID implementation in the Education sector was socialized through a Workshop with students and teachers of the secondary schools in Purwakarta, West Java, as the participants. To provide additional insight and expertise about the RFID-IoT concept to the workshop participants, this community service activity needs to be done. Several benefits will be obtained through this workshop, including saving paper use and efficiency, because the RFID-based IoT can reduce the teachers’ workload in processing the student attendance lists. Teachers are also invited to this workshop so they can guide their students and pass on the additional skills. Moreover, the invited teacher will teach new knowledge related to workshop material to other students in the School.Keywords: Internet-of-things, RFID, Mesin Kehadiran, Workshop, Purwakarta ABSTRAKInternet of Things (IoT) merupakan salah satu paradigma teknologi yang dikembangkan dalam revolusi industri 4.0. Konsep IoT adalah suatau objek dapat mentransfer data lewat jaringan tanpa adanya interaksi dari manusia ke manusia ataupun dari manusia ke perangkat komputer. Salah satu implementasinya pada bidang pendidikan yaitu sistem kehadiran menggunakan  Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) berbasis teknologi IoT. Mesin kehadiran seperti fingerprint dan face recognition memiliki harga yang relatif mahal dibandingkan mesin RFID. Sementara, jika jumlah mesin kehadiran yang ada di sekolah terbatas, hal ini sedikit kurang efisien untuk jumlah siswa yang sangat banyak dan rentan menimbulkan antrian. Implementasi RFID di bidang Pendidikan ini disosialisasikan melalui sebuah Workshop dengan siswa dan Guru dari sekolah menengah di Purwakarta, Jawa Barat sebagai peserta. Untuk dapat memberikan tambahan wawasan dan keterampilan mengenai mesin kehadiran RFID dengan konsep IoT kepada peserta Workshop, maka pengabdian masyarakat ini perlu dilakukan. Beberapa manfaat akan didapat memalui workshop ini, termasuk menghemat penggunaan kertas dan efisiensi karena RFID berbasis IoT mengurangi beban kerja guru dalam mengolah data kehadiran siswa. Guru turut diundang dalam workshop ini agar mereka dapat membimbing siswanya dan menularkan tambahan keterampilan dan wawasan yang didapat dari kegiatan PKM ini kepada siswa lainnya di sekolah..Kata Kunci: Internet-of-things, RFID, Workshop, Purwakarta

Abstract

With the existence of 5G technology, it is also possible for the evolution of new data transmission techniques. OFDM is the first multicarrier modulation scheme that has been used in digital communication systems. The UFMC system is one of the recommendations as a new multicarrier modulation scheme for 5G communication systems that applies filtering per sub-band instead of using cyclic prefixes. For this reason, this study will analyze the performance of OFDM and UFMC using 64-QAM and 256-QAM modulation to find out the best performance on a 5G communication system with general parameters according to the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the 5G physical layer (PHY) is BER to SNR with target 10-4. The results show that the communication system with OFDM is better than UFMC using 64-QAM modulation with an SNR value of 22.14 dB.

Abstract

Ornamental plant farmers face various challenges due to climate change and environmental stress that significantly affect plant health and growth. This research overcomes these challenges by developing an intelligent watering system that uses internet of things (IoT) technology and decision trees (DTs) algorithms to optimize the use of planting land by ensuring plants grow in the most optimal conditions, both in terms of water and nutrients and increase land productivity. The system is built by integrating various sensors to monitor soil moisture, air humidity, temperature, and light intensity in real-time. The collected data is used to automate watering schedules and provide recommendations on suitable plant species based on the soil nutrient content of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). The use of the DTs algorithm helps in analyzing the data from the sensors and providing recommendations on the most suitable plants for the land. The smart watering system was tested in three zones, each simulating a different watering scenario, and successfully maintained optimal conditions for plant growth in each zone. The machine learning (ML) model with the DTs algorithm can predict the right type of ornamental plants based on the existing land conditions in three watering zones, with an accuracy of 89 %, 90 %, and 91 %, respectively. Furthermore, farmers can follow these recommendations to minimize damage and death of plants so that the level of productivity on the land becomes optimal.

Abstract

This research aims to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart door lock system by utilizing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and the Blynk application. The system is designed to improve the level of home security by providing a variety of flexible access methods, including the use of RFID cards, smartphone apps, and emergency buttons. The prototype method is applied in system development, which involves creating a physical model to evaluate its performance and functionality. The test results showed that the system was operating properly, where RFID only responded to the registered card to unlock, thus increasing access security. Hardware design that is carried out with an economical approach and simple use of components makes this system more affordable compared to commercial smart door lock products on the market. This research shows great potential in increasing efficiency and comfort in managing home security systems and offers ease of implementation in various types of housing. Thus, this research makes a significant contribution to the development of innovative and practical solutions to improve home safety at a lower cost while providing a sense of security for its occupants.

Abstract

Container-based virtualization telah diterima di seluruh Platform Cloud dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, dan tren ini kemungkinan akan berlanjut di tahun-tahun mendatang. Akibatnya, sistem container orchestration menjadi semakin penting. Karena stability, maturity, dan fungsionalitasnya yang komprehensif, Kubernetes telah menjadi standar de facto. Semua penyedia Cloud utama pada saat ini menawarkan solusi Kubernetes terkelola Cloud-Native untuk membebaskan pengguna dari tekanan karena harus merancang dan memelihara infrastruktur Kubernetes yang rumit sambil tetap memanfaatkan fungsinya. Sebagai contoh pada tahun 2022, sebanyak 96% dari Sysdig’s global customer yang menggunakan layanan container memilih Kubernetes sebagai Container Orchestration-nya. Dan dalam laporan awal CNCF pada tahun 2022 sebanyak 79% responden menggunakan layanan terkelola seperti Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk menganalisis performa container yang berjalan secara hosted seperti pada Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Analisis dilakukan dengan cara pengujian secara real-time yang dilakukan didalam cluster Kubernetes, yang terdiri dari dua node dengan instance mesin 4vcpu yang dideploy dengan nginx:1.23. Execution time dilakukan sebanyak 50.000 eksekusi, menghasilkan waktu terbaik 0,0000106 sec per loop. Total pengunaan memori adalah 18,36 MiB, dengan network received sebesar 16,015 KiB/s dan network transmitted sebesar 16,057 KiB/s. Adapun value price performance yang didapatkan Google Cloud Platform (GCP) yaitu sebesar 952,4 MIPS/$.

Abstract

The use of electrical energy as a primary power source is increasing, with the residential sector being one of the largest consumers. Electrical energy expenditure often occurs accidentally, potentially leading to energy waste. This research develops an IoT-based electricity usage monitoring system to minimize electrical energy waste and help users improve efficiency and protection against voltage spikes using the R&D approach with a waterfall model.There are 3 layers of IoT architecture using the PZEM-004T sensor as a measuring device for electrical parameters and ESP8266 as a communication module where the results of the sensor readings will be displayed in real-time on the LCD and Blynk with a time difference of 1.6 seconds, in addition to the cost indicator, and the current flowing conditions are also displayed. Sensor readings are valid with values < ± 0.5% for current and voltage and < ± 1% for power readings. System monitoring tests were carried out on 10 electronic devices, and the results of the estimated electricity costs from the use of electrical energy of these electronic devices were obtained. The system is also equipped with a protection feature displayed with a warning indicator, where if the current exceeds 3.1A, the power will automatically be cut off within 15 seconds. This system provides a solution to the efficiency of electrical energy expenditure and provides more protection.
