Abstract

The purpose of this research is to interpretation the symbolic meaning of traditional utterances in seloko Hukum adat Melayu Jambi. This researh is descriptive qualitative by using content analysis method integrated with hermeneutic structural analysis. Hermeneutic structural analysis is aimed at revealing the structure and symbolic meaning of traditional utterances in seloko customary law. The data of this research traditional utterances in seloko customary law which consists of charater education values. The primary data is taken from informants who understand about traditional utterances while the second data is taken from some document and relevant research. The result of the research are. The symbolic meaning which are reflected on seloko text of Melayu basic customary law related with five things, they are: 1) Melayu Jambi customary law through the law of Islam from Holy Quran and Hadist 2) Melayu Jambi customary law through old tradition which is proven having truth or kindness on supporting the society, 3) Melayu Jambi customary law through justice, 4) Melayu Jambi customary law holding fast ot the truth, 5) customary low through partnership. Furthemore, the symbolic meaning of Melayu Jambi customary law related with the forms of felony which are contradicted with customary law and sanction of customary law. The functions of those seloko customary law are devided into 2 (two) parts, they are: (1) as a tool of force and control so that the society obey the customary law (2) as a tool in legalizing regulation, (3) as a tool of learning or character education and children attitude. Abstract

This study menkaji about improving access to education and the implementation of the compulsory 9 years in the district.East Tanjab. Samples taken from two sub-district. In the district.East Tanjab. Ditentntukan school sample with random sampling technique. Results obtained dalah: 1) Achieving increased access to education at the primary level is much better than at the level of SMP / MTs. 2) Based on the indicators of GER, NER, school dropout (DO) and number of repeat classes, the district has not met the target East Tanjab reasonable thoroughness 9 years in an optimal fit mandated by the Presidential Instruction No. 5 / 2006 which is unable to maintain NER SD / MI of 95% and education GER SMP / MTs has not reached 95%. It can be concluded that unlicensed although aksess education in the district.East Tajabbeen no improvement but not yet ready to implement the Fair 12 years.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe the effect of the use of numbered head models to the writing skills of speech text of grade IX students SMP Negeri 2 Kota Jambi Academic Year 2017/2018. The type of research used is quantitative and analyzed descriptively. The population that becomes the unit of analysis is all students of class IX G SMP Negeri 2 Kota Jambi as many as 36 students. The study used total sampling. Data collection techniques were conducted with questionnaires and assignments. Based on the results of the analysis, obtained the average value of post-test that has been taught by using the head model numbered 81.25 very good while the average value of pre-test is 71.25 good. This is evidenced by hypothesis testing using t test, in testing the hypothesis obtained value t count sebessar 9.881 greater than the value of ttable with dk 35 of 2.042 which means Ha accepted. Based on the hypothesis test that the numbered head model can be used by the teacher in speech writing lesson.Keywords: Write, Speech Text, Numbered Head Models.

Abstract

The reception of literature has become an integral part of the purpose of the study of literature and literary reception are integrated into the definition of literature (literariness). Lately, various research literature incorporate literary reception in an effort to determine literariness. The literary output consists of text (for intra-textual relations system) in relation to extra-textual reality: with the norms of the literary, tradition and imagination. Reception theory is concerned reader responses that emerged after the reader interpret and judge a literary work. Literary reception arise due to stagnation intrinsic analysis for nearly half a century since the beginning of the 20th century. Literary reception can be done with concretization, distinguish between functions and functions realized. The first function is aimed to find the real author's intention. While the second function is the reader's reaction to literature. Two figures most instrumental in the development of the theory of literary reception is Robert Jauss and Wolfgang Iser. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the Values ??of Local Wisdom from the Aspect of Legal Norms and Customary Economy in the Wedding Ceremony Activities of the Air Haji Village Community, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province. This study is included in the type of qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data in the primary data study are in the form of recordings of the wedding ceremonies of the Air Haji Village community, Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatra. Secondary data are in the form of interviews with traditional leaders. The data were analyzed using content analysis theory. The results of this study include three things, namely 1) the stage of activities before which must be carried out in the maresek wedding ceremony, manampiak bandua, maanta siriah, while those that do not have to be carried out are babako activities. 2) the stage of wedding day activities that must be carried out in the manjapuik marapulai wedding ceremony, akad nikah, basandiang di pelaminan, while those that do not have to be carried out are maanta marapulai activities. 3) the stage of activities after the wedding that must be carried out in the wedding ceremony, namely manjalang mintuo.

Abstract

This socialization activity aims to provide an understanding to the community and students about the importance of inheriting the values ​​of local wisdom of the Jambi Malay oral tradition in the digital era. The issues that are socialized include: 1) How are the efforts to inherit the values ​​of local wisdom in the oral tradition of the Jambi Malay community in the digital era? 2) How many oral traditions of the Jambi Malay community have been documented and recognized as national cultural heritage? 3) What local wisdom values ​​​​in the Jambi Malay oral tradition need to be inherited. The results of the socialization include: 1) Efforts to inherit oral traditions in the Jambi Malay community in addition to being documented and disseminated via the internet, 2) The community and students have an understanding of the values ​​​​of local wisdom contained in the Jambi Malay oral tradition. 3) Local wisdom values ​​​​related to: responsibility, politeness, respect for time, honesty, respect for guests and others.

Abstract

The purpose of this Community Service is to develop philology lecture materials for PBSI students and guide students in conducting philology manuscript studies at the Siginjei Jambi Museum. The Service Learning method of this community service uses socialization in the form of lectures, providing materials, and field studies. The Service Learning method is carried out because of the nature of serving the community through a community or several people who aim to develop themselves. The number of students in this activity is 21. The results of this Community Service are data to be written into the PKM report, which is the main task of lecturers in the Tri Dharma of higher education and to add to the teaching materials used in learning philology courses. The conclusion is that this assistance aims to develop philology lecture materials for students, where materials related to philology, namely manuscripts/handscripts, can be actualized through this visit.

Abstract

The present research aims to verify the implementation of a cooperative-contrastive model that can overcome students’ difficulties in translating texts from English into Indonesian. The study was conducted by a lecturer-researcher who involved 31 students who took Translation II subject. The duration of the research was two months and took place at the English Education program of Batanghari University. The main finding of the research is that the contrastive-cooperative model does not boast promising results in overcoming students' difficulties in translating texts from English into Indonesian. On the contrary, the approach lends itself to new problems in the students' translation. Hence, the lecturer-researcher tried to overcome the difficulties by training the students with some techniques, such as substitution, description, expansion, and transposition.

Abstract

The main aim of this research study is to determine the level of condition or vitality status of a language. This can be directed at saving this language from extinction. The method used in this research is Action Research. The status of the language from the results of the study has implications for the actions that need to be taken for the language in question, whether conservation, revitalization, or both conservation and revitalization need to be carried out. For example, conservation actions in the form of documentation alone can be carried out if the language is categorized as extinct or needs to be carried out at the same time as conservation and revitalization if the language is categorized as almost extinct or threatened with extinction.The conclusion of this research is that documenting languages ??is actually the first step in efforts to revitalize endangered languages. The success of revitalization still depends on the speaking community itself.
