Abstract

The research was done to investigated and find out whether in the rat’s (Rattus sp.) body in Surabaya contained zoonotic helminth.This research used 31 rats taken from North Surabaya, South Surabaya, East Surabaya, West Surabaya and Central Surabaya, regardless of gender and age. 1 sample from Mulyosari, 3 samples from Bratang, 7 samples from Pegirian, and 20 samples came from Keputran. The result of 31 samples of rat’s digestive organs examine using a surgical method showed positive resulth of the presence of Hymenolepis diminutain the intestine and 5 positive samples were Capillaria hepatica, and then 25 positive samples were Taenia taeniaformis obtained from rat liver organs. From exploration using a microscope, 27 samples showed positive result in the presence of Capillaria hepatica’s eggs. Helminth found in this research are Hymenolepis diminuta, Taenia taeniaformis. and Capillaria hepatica which are zoonotic.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the parasite species and prevalence of gastrointestinal parasite on stray cat and pet cat at Blitar. In an amount of 90 cats feces were collected from two different types of sample, those are stray cat and pet- cat from three sub-districts located at Blitar Regency. Cats feces were analyzed with native, sedimentation and float techniques. The result showed that prevalence of gastrointestinal parasite infection on cat at Blitar was amounted to 71% at stray cat and 40% at pet cat. The parasite that was found in this research are Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma sp. and Isospora sp.

Abstract

ABSTRACT             The purpose of this study was to identify ectoparasites that attack pearl catfish and the incidence of ectoparasite infestation in 100 samples of pearl catfish aged one and three months. This research was carried out from January to March 2021 in Makalele's cultivation, Tuban's District, Tuban's Regency. The method used in this research is skin scraping and gill installation. Data analysis using Chi-Square Test with SPSS version 24.0 for windows. The results showed that there were 3 types of ectoparasites found, Trichodina nobilis, Trichodina pediculus, Chilodonella sp., Dactylogyrus sp. and the highest incidence of ectoparasites occurred in young fish compared to old fish with a percentage of 35% and 25%, respectively, and based on the chi-square test there was no significant difference (p️≥0.05). Keywords: Clarias gariepinus, infestation level, ectoparasites.
