Abstract

Flies are vectors that can cause disease for humans. The presence of flies greatly interferes with human life. To break the chain of disease transmission from flies, it is necessary to carry out control. For example, the use of natural insecticides from star fruit plants (Averrhoa bilimbi) which has chemical compounds that are toxic to fly vectors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of aromatherapy candles of star fruit leaf extract (averrhoa bilimbi) as a house fly repellent (musca domestica). This type of research is experimental research. The samples used in this study were 100 house flies (musca domestica) with an exposure time of 1 hour with an interval of 20 minutes with 3 repetitions and the concentration of extracts used was 30%, 40% and 50%. The results showed that at a concentration of 30% the average total evicted flies were 4 heads with a percentage of 40%, the concentration was 40% of the total average evicted flies as many as 5 heads with a percentage of 50%, and the concentration of 50% of the total average evicted flies were 8 heads with a percentage of 80%. Inferred from the three concentrations used, the most effective concentration in repelling test flies is a concentration of 50%. So it is recommended that people use star fruit leaf wax in repelling flies. Keywords : Aromatherapy Candles, Extract, Star Fruit Leaves Wuluh, House repellents and flies.

Abstract

Nyamuk Aedes aegypti mampu membawa virus dengue penyebab demam berdarah atau DBD yang sering menimbulkan kejadian luar biasa (KLB) di Indonesia dan menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang signifikan di berbagai daerah. Dengan mengganggu siklus hidup nyamuk, terutama pada tahap larva, seseorang dapat mencegahnya. Dengan adanya jentik Aedes aegypti di Kecamatan Majuleng Kabupaten Wajo, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan faktor lingkungan dengan adat masyarakat. Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara faktor lingkungan dan perilaku masyarakat dengan keberadaan jentik Aedes aegypti di Kecamatan Majauleng Kabupaten Wajo digunakan penelitian observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Berdasarkan temuan, larva Aedes aegypti ditemukan di 26% rumah responden. Kelembaban (p value 0,019) dan curah hujan merupakan faktor dalam penelitian ini yang berhubungan dengan keberadaan jentik Aedes aegypti. Sedangkan kebiasaan 3M (P value 0,716) dan suhu udara (P value 0,226) pada penelitian ini tidak memiliki hubungan dengan keberadaan jentik Aedes aegypti. Studi ini menemukan bahwa meskipun ada hubungan antara kelembaban dan curah hujan dengan keberadaan jentik Aedes aegypti, tidak ada hubungan antara suhu udara dan 3M Plus. masyarakat harus bekerjasama untuk mencegah keberadaan jentik Aedes aegypti dengan menjaga pola hidup bersih dan sehat. Ini akan membantu mereka menyingkirkan area mana pun di mana siklus hidup nyamuk dapat berlanjut. Kata Kunci: Jentik Aedes aegypti, Kebiasaan, Lingkungan

Abstract

The mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus are vectors of dangue hemorrhagie fever, having unique habitat and behavior characteristics. The Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes can generally be found in settlements, people’s homes and buildings. One of the ways can be used to determine the existence of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in one district is conducting a survey and installing an ovitrap.The study aims to know the relationship between temperature, humidity, lighting conditions and environmental cleanliness with the density of Aedes mosquito eggs in Bontokassi Public Health Center, Galesong Selatan District, Takalar Regency. This type of this research is Analytical Observational with a cross-sectional study design. The results show that the presence of Aedes mosquito eggs in the working area of the bontokassi public health center has an average of 67,3% inside the house and 55,8% outside the house. There is no relationship between indoor air temperatures and outdoor air temperature, is no relationship air humidity, there is a relationship lighting conditions, and there is a relationship between the cleanliness of the outside environment and the existence of Aedes mosquito eggs Bontokassi Public Health Center. In a conclusion, There are 3 categories of variables which have no relationship and 4 variable category which has a relationship with the density of Aedes mosquito eggs in Bontokassi Public Health Center. Abstract

Dengue fever is a serious public health problem, especially in endemic areas such as Indonesia. This disease can cause Extraordinary Events (KLB) with high mortality rates. Based on data from the Ministry of Health, until June 14, 2021, there were 16,320 cases of DHF in Indonesia, with an increase of 6,417 cases compared to the previous period. One of the efforts to control the spread of DHF is to kill Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae, the main vector of the disease. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of alamanda leaf extract (Allamanda cathartica L.) in killing Aedes aegypti larvae, using the Lethal Concentration 80 (LC80) indicator, which is the concentration that can kill 80% of the larval population. This study used a sample of 250 Aedes aegypti larvae with 3 replications for each treatment, consisting of 35%, 45%, and 50% concentrations of alamanda leaf extract, and 0% as control. The larvae were observed for 24 hours to determine the level of mortality caused by various concentrations of extracts. At 35% concentration, the total average mortality of larvae was 3 (12%). At 45% concentration, the average mortality increased to 5 (20%), and at 50% concentration, the average mortality remained at 5 (20%). These results indicate that the concentration of alamanda leaf extract used did not reach 80% mortality. Alamanda leaf extract at concentrations of 35%, 45%, and 50% is not yet effective for killing Aedes aegypti larvae because the resulting mortality percentage is still far from the LC80. Further research is needed to find more optimal concentrations or combine with other methods in mosquito larvae control. Keywords:  Alamanda Leaf Extract; Larvicide; Aedes aegypti larvae

Abstract

Pasar adalah tempat transaksi barang dengan berbagai pedagang yang sering menjadi sumber sampah organik, termasuk limbah ikan, tempe busuk, buah, dan sayur, yang menjadi tempat berkembang biaknya lalat. Lalat, sebagai vektor penyakit, dapat menyebarkan infeksi saluran pencernaan, infeksi mata, dan penyakit kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh variasi umpan limbah ikan, tempe busuk, limbah buah, dan limbah sayur terhadap kepadatan lalat yang terperangkap pada lem perekat di Pasar Pabaeng Baeng Kota Makassar. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu (quasi-experiment) dengan dosis 10 gram untuk setiap jenis umpan dan 3 kali replikasi. Hasil uji statistik One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa variasi umpan memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap jumlah lalat yang terperangkap (P=0.006). Umpan limbah ikan terbukti paling efektif dalam menarik lalat, hal ini disebabkan oleh tekstur yang lembek dan kandungan darah yang tinggi pada limbah ikan. Berdasarkan temuan ini, disarankan kepada pedagang pasar untuk memanfaatkan limbah ikan, buah, dan sayur sebagai umpan pada lem perekat untuk mengurangi populasi lalat di pasar, yang dapat meningkatkan kebersihan dan mengurangi risiko penularan penyakit.
