Abstract

The welding method combines two or more pieces of metal by melting the material to be joined. The joining of two or more base metals through melting or without melting the joint area is known as welding technology. Karang Taruna Desa Lanne is a village government program for youth empowerment. Currently, the youth organization has a program that still needs to be improved to increase the productivity of youth organization members. Therefore, the training program to improve welding skills initiated by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, is expected to positively impact partners. The activity was carried out by providing training material followed by welding practice activities to determine the ability of participants to apply the material provided previously. In addition, the pre-test and post-test questionnaires were given to the participants before and after the training to determine the program's success rate. Based on the quantitative analysis of measurements before training, it was found that 85% did not understand and 15% did not understand how to prepare for welding. After the training, it was found that 65% of the participants understood, 25% understood, and 10% understood very well when preparing for welding. This indicates that the activities carried out have a positive impact on partners.

Abstract

Hot Mix Asphalt is a combination of natural material composition with asphalt in the needs of highway infrastructure that is much needed. This study aims to identify the parameters of asphalt mixtures combined with HDPE type polymers and synthetic rubber in weight percentages of 4%, 5%, and 6% at temperature variations of 1700oC, 2000oC, and 2300oC which include density, Void Filled with Aspalt (VMA), Void in the mix (VIM), Void filled of Bitumen (VFB), Flow and Stability using Marshall tools, with the determination and orientation of loading carried out through a free pressure system or by Compressive Test to determine the fatique value in the loading process carried out. The optimum mixture rate is 5% with a temperature of 2000oC for HDPE type polymers, a mixture of 4% with a temperature of 2000oC for synthetic rubber mixtures, then for mixing both types of fillers the optimum mixing temperature is 1750oC, while the maximum loading value is located at 800 kN / cm2, the average load that can be received is 60 kN/s with cylindrical specimens with a height of 7 cm with a diameter of 10.5 cm.

Abstract

Driving comfort for riders and passengers is a keytarget to be achieved. Fluctuations in vehicle loads, bumps,perforated surfaces, and other road damage will greatly affectthe vehicle suspension working system. This study aims tocalculate the vertical dynamic load of the vehicle actually whichoccurs on road construction after through the vehicle wheelsuspension mechanism. The Pneumatic cylinder that was drivenby pressurized air directly weigh on the spring and ShockAbsorber that contained on the wheels of the vehicle. The loadfluctuations of the medium weight category vehicle aredetermined by the regulation of the amount of pressurized airentering into the pneumatic cylinder chamber pushing the pistonand connecting rods. The deviation that occurs duringcompression on the Spring and Shock Absorber, is substitutedinto the vehicle dynamic load equation by taking also themagnitude of the spring stiffness constant, and the fluid or gascoefficient of the damper. The results showed that the magnitudeof the displacement when the compression force worked hassignificantly influenced the amount of vertical dynamic load ofthe vehicle that overlies the road construction. Experimentalresults using pneumatic actuators instead of real dynamic vehicleloads illustrate the characteristics of the relationship betweenwork pressure and dynamic load. If the working pressure of P2(bar) is given great, the vertical dynamic load Ft (N) whichoverloads the structure of the road is also greater. From thegraph shows that shock absorbers have greater ability to reducedynamic load vertically when compared to spring ability.

Abstract

Desa Possi Tanah merupakan salah satu daerah di Kabupaten Bulukumba yang memiliki penduduk sebanyak 762 jiwa dimana mayoritas penduduknya berprofesi sebagai petani kelapa. Saat ini petani kelapa di Desa Possi Tanah menggunakan metode kon-vensional dalam mengolah sabuk kelapa menjadi cocofiber. Metode tersebut kurang efektif karena membutuhkan waktu yang la-ma dan energi yang cukup besar. Kurangnya informasi yang diperoleh petani serta kurangnya penerapan teknologi dan ilmu pengetahuan me-nyebabkan proses pengolahan sabuk kelapa kurang diminati oleh para petani di Desa Possi Tanah.  Oleh karena itu pengabdian dilakukan untuk mengimplementasikan teknologi mesin pengurai sabuk kelapa untuk petani kelapa di desa tersebut. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan dan pengetahun  serta meningkatkan minat para petani dalam mengolah sabuk kelapa secara efektif dan efisien. Selain itu, dilakukan juga pelatihan dan cara perawatan mesin pengurai sabuk kelapa yang dilanjutkan dengan demonstrasi mesin pengurai sabuk kelapa. Hasil pengujian diperoleh cocofiber yang panjang namun masih terdapat sisa serbuk yang melekat pada serat. Selain menghasilkan cocofiber, mesin tersebut juga menghasilkan cocopeat yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media tanam.

Abstract

Smallholder cattle farms in Sanrego Village, Kahu District, Bone Regency, face significant challenges related to the availability of green fodder, particularly during the dry season. To overcome this problem, the adoption of appropriate technology is essential to enhance feed processing efficiency and ensure a consistent supply of high-quality silage. This community service initiative was conducted under the Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) Community Service Program in collaboration with partner institution CV. Reza. The program focused on the redesign of a mobile shredding machine integrated with a fermentation tank, developed to be more efficient, user-friendly, and aligned with the practical needs of local livestock farmers. The implementation process involved several stages, including problem identification, machine redesign, prototype development, user training, and mentoring for farmers. The results demonstrated that the redesigned machine effectively accelerated the shredding process, produced uniformly chopped green fodder, and facilitated efficient silage production. This technological innovation is expected to enhance farmer self-sufficiency, reduce feed production costs, and promote the sustainability of cattle farming enterprises in Bone Regency.
