Abstract

This research discusses about Akira’s personality conflict in Japanese comic’s Family Complex by Mikiyo Tsuda. Akira is the second son of the Sakamoto Family and he lived with his Family in harmony. Sakamoto Family are japanese family who livedsame with another japanese family.The different is, all of the member from Sakamoto Family has a perfect face, except Akira. That different makes Akira feel uncomfortable if he gather round with his family. The writter thought, what happened with Akira can be happenedtoo with another child in the world.The purpose of this research areto answer the problem about personality conflict of Akira Sakamoto based on Family Complex’s manga by Mikiyo Tsuda. The methods which used in this research are structural method and Sigmund Freud’s personality method. The result shows that most of Akira’s personality influenced with his superego. Akira’s low self-confident make him involvedthe conflict with his self. For example, when Akira going out with his family for dinner. His “Id” want to stay at home because he feel so uncomfortable with his family, but in the other side, his “superego” want to going outbecause he won’t make his family sad. The winner from the conflict between Akira’s “Id” and “superego” is “superego”. So, Akira’s “ego” doing the “superego” which is going out with his family for dinner.

Abstract

The sequence of this thesis are: first the writer collects the references and analyzes the data. Then, she obtained the data from Anthology of Japanese children's literature's book. The problems that will be studied in this thesis are intrinsicelements and the moral values contained in Ten Made Todoke Yoshida Genjiro’s short story. This study uses structural method. The method is used to analyze the intrinsicelements that lead to moral values of the story. It makes the writer easier to analyze the moral values of story. The intrinsic elements that will be discussed in this thesis are theme, character, plot, setting, point of view, and the message of story.

Abstract

This thesis is a research of a short story, Haru no Tori by Kunikida Doppo which was published on 1904. Haru no Tori means The Spring Bird. Haru no Tori is a story about 11 years old boy named Rokuzoo, who’s got a mental disorders, which makes a teacher, Watashi, is interested by Rokuzoo’s pathetic life. This research is made for answering 2 main questions, such as: 1) to know the structure of Haru no Tori short story, and 2) to know why is Watashi interested on Rokuzoo’s life. The method that will used by the author of this thesis is structural method by Greimas. Greimas’s method is using two methods, they are actancial scheme and the functional structure. The methods used to facilitate the author to determine the storyline and different points of view, so the author will know what makes Watashi interested in Rokuzoo’s life from Haru no Tori. The results of this research by actancial scheme and structural method by Greimas are 14 of actancial schemes, 5 of functional structure, and one main actan which is the main core of Watashi’s interest on Rokuzoo’s life.So, the conclusions of this research are; 1) because Watashi is a teacher, he thinks he needs to do something to help Rokuzoo’s pathetic life by giving Rokuzoo a better education. 2) because Watashi feel so grateful by the kindness of Tanuguchi who lets Watashi stay in a rented room for a living place. 3) besides, Watashi is always interested to Rokuzoo’s strange fondness on bird.
