Abstract

Metal melting furnace is a device used to fuse a metal. In the world of metal furnace industry is still dominated by liquid fuel in the form of diesel or solid fuel in the form of coal. In this research the source of fuel used is waste of used oil. Used oil is a waste that is promising when in the process of becoming fuel. The purpose of this study for the optimization clicking or enhance an aluminum melting furnace and get better efficiency in terms of the manufacturing process, design, raw materials, fuel consumption, time, procedures for use. This study was conducted using an experimental method to build the furnace and burner that will be used for smelting logam.isolator used is refractory cement (TNC 16) and Glass Wool. The capacity created in this study is 10 kg of aluminum. In designing the software use ANSYS 12.1 to simulate the state when in operation. The furnace was tested with variable weight of aluminum to be melted: 0.5 kg, 1 kg, 0.5kg. Later tempratur on the furnace in measuring on the inside, the outside, cover, and fuel consumption. From the results of tests and calculations get the amount of time required for the melt of 0.5 kg, 1 kg and 1.5 kg of solid aluminum is ± 29-34 minutes. The time required until the 660 oC temprature is ± 24 minutes. The pouring temperature of this test reaches 887 oC. Q losses are 19,48197 kw and the resulting heat is 128854,91 kj.

Abstract

Studi ini menganalisis perangkat pengkondisian udara, dengan memanfaatkan panas buang pada Helical Heat Exchanger sebagai kondenser dan water heater sebagai pemanfaatan energi yang terbuang. Mengansumsikan perangkat pengkondisian udara bekerja secara normal dengan kapasitas kompresor sebesar 1 PK, temperatur kondensasi sebesar 50 oC dan evaporasi sebesar 5 oC

Abstract

Provinsi Riau merupakan daerah yang kaya akan sumber daya biomasa salah satunya adalah kabupaten Bengkalis, dimana hampir 80% penduduknya masih menggunakan tungku berbahan bakar kayu untuk memasak, sementara untuk mendapatakan bahan bakar fosil dan gas elpiji sangat sulit. Telah dilakukan penelitian dan uji eksperimental perancangan dan pembuatan tungku gasifikasi biomasa penghasil listrik dengan memanfaatkan panas buang sekelilingnya. Diameter dalam tungku 14,8 cm dan diameter luar luar 21,4 cm dengan diameter ruang annulus 66 cm, tinggi tungku 50 cm. Alat ukur temperatur menggunakan termokopel tipe K dan dengan data akuisisi Advantech DAQ 4718. Tungku dapat menghasilkan listrik dengan pemanfaatan panas buang pada temperatur sisi panas T = 100 0 C dengan temperatur sisi dingin 32 0 C dimana tegangan termoelektrik ±1,2 V dan arus ±60 mA. Tungku dapat membakar ulang hasil pembakaran melalui lobang di sekeliling tabung dalam sehingga terjadi gasifikasi. Efisiensi termal tungku adalah 10,7 % yaitu dapat mendidihkan 1 kg air pada menit ke-10 dengan berat bahan bakar kayu 1 kg.

Abstract

Adsorption on a solid adsorbent is the fundamental processes in the field of separation processes, purification of gases, adsorption cooling, advanced adsorption cooling, and extensive work on hydrogen storage. The understanding of the thermodynamic properties of adsorbent plus adsorbate system is important to analyze. Information concerning the relevant adsorption equilibrium and characterized of adsorbent is generally an essential requirement for the analysis and design of an adsorption separation process. For practical application, theadsorption equilibrium must be known over a broad range of operation temperatures. Also, the isotherms of pure species are fundamental information for dynamic simulation of adsorbers. The main objective of this research is to design kinetic adsorption test rig to investigate the capacity and rate of adsorption on adsorbent and adsorbate pair’s. The result of design kinetic adsorption test rig including dimensions of vapor vessel (pressure vessel) and measuring cell. The volume of vapour vessel is 1000 ml and measuring cell is 100 ml. Kinetic adsorption test rig was manufactured to investigate capacity and rate of adsorption up to 40 bar.

Abstract

Teknologi tungku pembakaran telah lama berkembang pesat dimasyarakat dan masih digunakan khususnya propinsi Riau yang kaya akan sumber daya biomassa. Telah dilakukan perancangan dan pembuatan tungku hemat energi dan ramah lingkungan dengan sistem downdraft-gasification, tungku berdimensi 1 x 1 x 1,2 m dengan tabung 13 lobang udara primer dan 21 lobang udara sekunder dengan tinggi 40 cm dan diameter 35 cm. Pengujian dilakukan dengan 6 liter air yang mendidih pada menit ke-18,73 pada temperatur 99 0C untuk tungku modifikasi dan temperatur air tertinggi 83,75 0C pada menit 45,83 untuk tungku tradisional masyarakat dengan menggunakan 3 kg kayu bakar, kecepatan aliran udara primer 0,59 (g/s) dan 0,0034 (m3/s) udara sekunder . Efisiensi termal pada tungku modifikasi 14,7 % dan efisiensi termal pada tungku tradisional masayarakat 4,2 %. Proses semi-gasification pada pembakaran memberi dampak berkurangnya asap hasil pembakaran dan isolator dengan serbuk gergaji memberi akumulasi panas yang bersifat adiabatis.

Abstract

Degradable Organic Carbon (DOC) is the important element in forming CH4 in a pile of garbage in the landfill. The calculation of the potential of methane (CH4) in the landfill become the basis for control and management of GHG sourced from landfill. Estimated value of the content of DOC used calculating the weight of municipal solid waste that goes into landfill every day, counting the value of the fraction of the composition and content of dry matter of municipal solid waste by 11 components of garbage (food, paper / cardboard, gardens and parks, nappies, wood, textiles, rubber / leather, plastic, glass, metal and sampahlain etc.), to further multiplied by the fraction of a default value content of DOC in each component of trash and garbage in total. The calculations show that the total weight of waste that goes to landfill every day at 14594.05 kg / day with the largest waste composition in the form of junk food at 49.54%, followed by plastic waste (13.76%) and the smallest is junk metal composition by 1.18%. As for the fraction of the dry matter of the highest value was found in the garbage rubber / leather by 95.31%, followed by wood waste amounted to 78.61% and the smallest value was found in the garbage nappies by 17.43% and 21.23% of food waste. Based on calculations using the value of the total garbage in, the fraction of the composition and the fraction of dry material content and the fraction of DOC.

Abstract

Design and manufacture of test equipment centrifugal pump characteristics with a single system, serial and parallel so that the pump does not take place in the election that resulted in excess capacity and excess power can be detrimental in operational costs. Operation of the pump with a single system, series and parallel to the head or the necessary capacity can not be achieved with one pump only, it can be used two or more pumps arranged in series or parallel. This created a tool designed for fluid circulating water from a water bath to v-notch with dimensions size, as follows: High P: 100 mm, Height H: 100 mm, Width B: 350 mm, v-notch Length: 1000 mm , Threshold sharp 90 ° through a pvc pipe with a water pump and piping for setting singly, serial and parallel use a regulating valve (valve). Debit (Q) in a single system with a single pump is: 0.00038 m³ / s. Debit (Q) in series with a double pump system is: 0.00049 m³ / s. Debit (Q) in parallel with a double pump system is: 0.00089 m³ / s.

Abstract

Photovoltaic thermal (PVT) collectors convert solar radiation directly to both electrical and thermal energies. A PVT collector basiccaly combines the functions of a flat plate solar collector and those of a PV panel. This review presents thermodinamics fundamentals, descriptions, and previous works conducted on energy and exergy analysis of air based PVT collector. Studies in 2010 to 2018 of the energy and exergy analysis of air based PVT collectors are summarized. The energy and exergy efficiency of air based PVT collector ranges from 31% to 94% and 8.7% to 18%, respectively. In addition, flat plate solar collector is presented. Studies conducted on air based PVT collectors are reviewed.

Abstract

Growing concern with regard to energy sources and their usage has consequently increased significance of photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) collectors. A PV/T air collector is a system which has a conventional PV system combined with a thermal collector system. The system is able to produce electrical energy directly converted from sunlight by using photoelectric effect. Meanwhile, it also extracts heat from the PV and warms the fluid (air flow) inside the collector. In this review, solar PV system and solar thermal collectors are presented. In addition, studies conducted on solar PV/T air collectors are reviewed. The development of PV/T air collectors is a very promising area of research. PV/T air collectors using in solar drying and solar air heater.

Abstract

Jumlah angkatan kerja di Riau pada Februari 2015 mencapai 2.974.014 orang, atau naik 172,849 orang (6,17 persen) dibandingkan jumlah angkatan kerja pada Februari 2014 sebesar 2.801.165 orang. Jumlah penduduk yang bekerja di Riau pada Februari 2015 sebesar 2,774,245 orang atau bertambah 112,918 orang (4,2 persen) dibandingkan dengan keadaan pada Februari 2014. Tingkat pengangguran terbuka pada Februari 2015 sebesar 6,72 persen, lebih tinggi dibandingkan keadaan pada Februari 2014 (4,99 persen). Sebagian besar para remaja putus sekolah usia produktif tidak memiliki keterampilan berwirausaha sehingga tidak bisa mendapatkan atau menciptakan lapangan kerja. Jumlah bengkel las di kecamatan Sukajadi khususnya kelurahan sukajadi relatif masih kurang dibandingkan dengan jumlah pengguna jasa las. Masih kurangnya pembinaan terhadap Sebagian besar Para remaja putus sekolah usia produktif untuk mendapatkan/menciptakan lapangan pekerjaan khususnya dibidang teknik pengelasan. Teknik mesin fakultas teknik UMRI,menyelenggarakan pengabdian dalam bentuk kegiatan pelatihan keterampilan las pada remaja putus sekolah usia produktif di kelurahan Sukajadi Kecamatan Sukajadi kota Pekanbaru , pelatihan dilaksanakan selama lima hari dengan jumlah peserta 10 orang. Para peserta secara langsung praktek dibawah bimbingan dan pengawasan pelaksana pelatihan yang bertindak sebagai instruktur. Metode demontrasi dan peragaan ini sangat efektif untuk pelatihan las , peserta pelatihan menerapkan modul yang telah didiskusikan dengan tim pelaksana, secara langsung pada peralatan las yang telah disiapkan oleh panitia.
