Abstract

The effect of concentration of cobalt chromium in hemolysis test for dental implant. Dental implants are used to replace tooth/teeth loss and its function. Cobalt chromium has ideal characteristics to be made as dental implants material. It is required that the material to be implanted must be biocompatible with cells and tissues. One of biocompatibility characteristics is hemocompatibility. Hemocompatibility of materials can be observed with hemolysis test. Thus the purpose of this research is to know whether cobalt chromium as dental implants material affect the hemolysis of rabbit blood or not. This research was done with rabbit blood (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and devided into 3 groups (treatment, positive and negative control). The tested material was cobalt chromium Remanium® GM 800, a product from Dentaurum. The contact between blood and material was done with ASTM-F075 hemolysis test. Cobalt chromium was not hemolytic at 2,5%, 5%, and 10% of concentration, slightly hemolytic at 20% of concentration, and hemolytic at 40% and 80% of concentration. The conclusion of this research was variety of concentration of cobalt chromium affected hemolysis percentage signi cantly.ABSTRAKImplan gigi digunakan untuk mengganti gigi yang hilang untuk dan dapat mengembalikan fungsi gigi. Abstract

Background: Sialolithiasis is disease found in the salivary glands which is marked by obstruction of salivary secretion by salivary gland stone. Submandibular gland is the highest predilection for sialolithiasis with 80% occurrence rate. The gland stones in Wharton's duct cause ductal stenosis and inflammation that causing pain. The main purpose of surgery on sialolithiasis is not only to take salivary gland stones, but the most important thing is to maintain the warthon duct as an outlet for the submandibular salivary glands. Objective: This paper explains case of sialolithiasis related to the management of Warthon’s duct repair surgery with sialostent in pediatric. Case: A 5 years-old female patient came to our hospital with a complaint of swealing in the floor of the mouth for 2 weeks that sometimes disturbing when eating. Clinical examination revealed a mobile 5 mm swealing and inflamation in the floor of the mouth in the sublingual caruncle. Ultrasoundgraphy examination results showed a picture of a very hyperechoic circle measuring 3 mm. Patient was planned for surgical removal of gland stone and Warthon’s duct repair with sialostent under general anesthesia. Case management: The suture technique for sialostent fixation is an important key to the success of this surgery, especially in children, because children often feel uncomfortable and want to remove this sialostent that appears intraorally. Result of this successful surgery is the Warthon’s duct can be maintained without relapse. Good soft tissue healing and normal salivary gland function. There was no complications in this surgical result. Sialolithectomy in combination with sialostent is a promising method for repairing the Wharthon duct. Conclusion: This method is able to correct the unfavorable curvature of the Warthon duct, prevent stenosis, and avoid sublingual caruncle closure due to inflammatory and healing processes.

Abstract

Background: Tongue carcinoma is different from oral cancer in other areas because it has a high amount of cell growth, localized migration, and a higher rate of spreading to cervical lymphatic nodes. Therapeutic alternatives, particularly concerning recurrent malignancies, are notably constrained. Nevertheless, it is imperative to explore novel methodologies for refractory neoplasms, one of which may involve the application of ibuprofen. Purpose: The goal of this study was to look at how well caspase-3 and -9 break down proteins as possible targets for apoptosis in tongue cancer cells that were caused by ibuprofen. Methods: A controlled laboratory experiment employing a post-test-only design was executed. We used a colorimetric test for caspase-3 and -9 to check for the induction of apoptosis. The suppression of cellular invasion was verified through the Boyden chamber assay. Western blot analysis was utilized to identify the presence of caspase-3 and -9 proteins. The administered doses of ibuprofen were calibrated at 0, 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 µg/mL. Data were subjected to analysis using two-way ANOVA followed by post-hoc Least Significant Different (LSD), with a significance threshold set at 95%. Results: It was established that ibuprofen at dosages ranging from 25 to 100 µg/mL significantly facilitated apoptosis in cells through an augmentation of the proteolytic activity of caspase-3 and -9. Notably, caspase-9 exhibited a superior proteolytic activity (1.85-fold) compared to caspase-3 (1.30-fold) (P = 0.038) at the 100 µg/mL concentration. The upregulation of caspase-3 and -9 proteins was observed in cells treated with ibuprofen. Ultimately, ibuprofen demonstrated an ability to inhibit the invasion of tongue carcinoma cells across various dosages. Conclusion: Ibuprofen has been shown to induce the proteolytic activities of caspase-3 and -9 in tongue carcinoma cells. However, the proteolytic activity of caspase-9 surpassed that of caspase-3, suggesting that targeting this protein may constitute a promising novel therapeutic strategy for this cancer variant.
