Abstract

Marine invertebrates are animals that have no vertebrae and are almost found throughout marine areas, including coastal areas such as coral reefs. The study aims to determine the diversity of invertebrate species associated with coral reefs in the waters of Palu Bay, Panau Village, Palu. The number of invertebrates found in coral reefs were 558 individuals in the day (22 families), while at night as many as 670 individuals (24 families). Family Pectinidae has the highest abundance, both in the day (50.17%) and night (41.79%) with the number of 280 individuals. The value of diversity index during the day ranged from 1.03 to 1.67, while at night the diversity index ranged from 1.72 to 1.81 and categorized as low. The homogeneity index during the day for all transects ranged from 0.27 to 0.40, while at night ranged from 0.31 to 0.34 categorized as the community under stress. The dominance index during day and night for all transects are categorized as low, which for daytime ranges from 0.21 to 0.39, whereas the night ranges from 0.24 to 0.28.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is (1) determining the dose of waste carrageenan/waste seaweed as an adhesive based on physical and chemical quality of fish feed (2) assessing the effect of artificial feeding containing waste carrageenan on the growth of milkfish. Using experimental design method to determine the dose of waste carrageenan as an adhesive based on physical and chemical quality of fish feed. The treatment consisted of4 doses of test adhesive (addition of 3%, 5%,10% and 15% of waste carrageenan) andeach treatment was applied 3 times repetition. The milk fish feed made from waste carrageenan-shaped pellets that havebeen previously calculated formula of milk fish feed using 4 main raw material, namely corn meal, fish meal, soybean meal andfine bran.  Determination of the amount/percentage of used materials was calculated using the square method after knowing the standard range of nutrient content of these materials. The results showed that use of waste carrageenan in the milkfish feed can enhance the growth of the higher milkfish. The growth of milkfish is maintained for 3.5 months with the provision of waste carrageenan 3-15% for 3.3 to5.9 g/day.The treatment gives the highest weight gain milkfish (average 5.9 g/day) is the provision of waste carrageenan with a composition of 15% of the total raw material feed. Keywords: Aquaculture milkfish, waste carrageenan, pellet feed.

Abstract

Sceletonema costatum is one of a live feed with a golden brown box shape with a relatively small size about 4-15 microns, and has a high nutrient content. The research objective was to study the effect of long exposure (photoperiod) to the density of Sceletonema costatum in laboratory scale. The research was conducted in October to November 2015, taking place at the Laboratory of Aquaculture, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, University Tadulako, Palu. The study used completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments, (A) 12 light : 12 dark, (B) 14 light : 10 dark, (C) 16 light : 8 black, and (D) 18 light : 6 dark. The results showed the higher density of Sceletonema costatum cells are in treatment(C) 16 light : 8 dark as counted of 6.7 x 105 cells / ml.Keywords : Sceletonema costatum, Photoperiode, Density

Abstract

The site observational is at Morowali Regency, sample take is done on south Bungku district with 5 villages, which are Waru Waru, Jawi Jawi, Kaleroang, Bunginkela and Buajangka. Executed research up to 8 months. Observational target using survey method with direct sampling at the site as simple randoms sampling and purposives sampling, and direct interview with quesioner's. Output that resulting which is carrageenan analysis and seaweed agribusiness effort feasibility study. The product of carrageenan extraction result the higher purification points out that 30% available on Jawi Jawi’s seaweed, the lower (26,45 %) found on Waru Waru, and Morowali regency equals as big as 28.36%. Results of seaweed agribusiness effort feasibility study using five investment criterion showed that carrageenan agroindustri's effort is feasible.Key words : Agroindustry, carrageenan, seaweeds.

Abstract

Seaweed is one of the coastal resources that has high economic value and is an export commodity of Indonesian fisheries. The problem that is often faced in seaweed cultivation is the availability of quality seeds and available continuously. One effort to meet the needs of seedlings is to apply tissue culture techniques. The purpose of this study was to study and determine the growth of seaweed (Eucheuma cottonii) by giving various doses of PES (Provasol Enriched Seawater). This research was conducted in August to September 2017 at the Network Culture Laboratory, Lombok Aquaculture Fisheries Center (BPBL), Gili Genting Sekotong Barat Hamlet, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. The research method was an experiment with 5 treatments of PES fertilizer doses (A: 0 ml; B: 3.5 ml; C: 6 ml; D: 8.5 ml; E: 11 ml) and 4 replications that were designed using a Randomized Complete Design (CRD). Data were analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed the highest specific growth rate, absolute weight and absolute length in treatment D (8.5 ml dose) with a value of 0.030% / week, respectively 0.35 g and 1.41 cm.
