Abstract

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 will be increasingly felt by small industrial business actors in 2021. One of them is the Center for Research and Community Service of the Indonesian Institute of Technology (PRPM ITI), namely the UMKM Tempe Sago Chips "Bulankoe" in Cileungsi. In addition to competition from similar businesses resulting in a decrease in consumer buyers, the main problem is the production process of tempeh chips which still use ordinary knives so that it takes a long time to slice the tempeh. Another problem is the results of the tempeh slices are not evenly thick and thin. If it is too thin, the tempeh slices will crumble when fried and if it is too thick, the tempeh slices are less dry when fried, thereby reducing the amount of production. In order to overcome these problems, the ITI Mechanical Engineering Study Program (PS MS ITI) made a tempeh slicing machine to be donated to UMKM Sago Tempe Chips "Bulankoe" and then provided training on the use of the machine. Through this training activity, UMKM actors are able to operate a tempeh slicing machine, the slicing time is getting faster with the desired thickness.

Abstract

According to data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and UKM of the Republic of Indonesia in 2023, the contribution of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) to Gross Domestic Income (GDP) reached 61%. Based on the achievement of this contribution, UMKM in Indonesia have great potential to be developed so that they can increase their contribution to the national economy. Coaching and mentoring can be carried out through the relevant agencies in their respective regions. Considering that currently in various regions Food UMKM, especially snacks, are growing rapidly, several regions have made efforts to develop Food UMKM through activities to determine regional superior food products (PUPD). For this reason, PUPD criteria are needed for UMKM and it turns out that there are many problems faced by Food UMKM in trying to meet the PUPD criteria. One of them is Dodol UMKM in South Tangerang City. Through PUPD determination activities carried out by the South Tangerang City Department of Industry and Trade together with a team of experts from the Indonesian Institute of Technology, the problems faced by Dodol UMKM in South Tangerang City have been identified, namely labor citeria, renewables, facilities and technology.

Abstract

Higher education in engineering is one of the most popular and sought-after majors among high school (SMA) and equivalent students such as vocational schools (SMK). Engineering majors are considered to offer good, bright, and promising prospects, including the availability of extensive job opportunities, especially in the industrial and construction sectors. However, the path to achieving this requires students to have good mathematical skills, which must be started at the latest when students are in high school/vocational school. The Community Service (PKM) activity that we conducted tried to find out how the tenth grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 South Tangerang City view the subject of Mathematics. Of the 39 students, only 2 students said they liked Mathematics and 37 people gave answers that gave the impression that Mathematics is difficult and confusing. In this PKM activity, we gave 2 presentations that illustrated how Mathematics is needed in everyday life. At the end of the activity, a question and answer session was held and through the questions asked by the students, it was seen that the students gave a positive response to this activity.
