Abstract

This study aims to analyze the problems of using Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) media in learning at SD Negeri 1 Ulak Balam. The increasing integration of digital technology in education has prompted many schools to adopt IFP as an interactive learning tool; however, its implementation is not without challenges. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with the school principal and five teachers who were selected purposively based on their direct involvement with IFP usage. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal five major problematic themes: (1) limited infrastructure, as the school possesses only one IFP unit that must be shared among all teachers; (2) inadequate storage management, whereby the device is kept in the school office due to classroom security concerns, thereby reducing its frequency of use; (3) gaps in teacher digital competency, particularly among senior teachers who lack formal training in IFP operation; (4) technical constraints, including unstable internet connectivity and frequent power outages that disrupt digital-based lessons; and (5) suboptimal utilization, as IFP usage is limited to video playback, educational games, and YouTube content. Despite these challenges, IFP has demonstrated a positive impact on student motivation and engagement. The study concludes that sustainable optimization of IFP requires systemic support encompassing additional devices, structured training programs, improved infrastructure, and adequate storage facilities.

Abstract

The limited critical thinking abilities of elementary school students are frequently caused by the prevalence of traditional teacher-centered teaching approaches and the absence of significant interaction among students. This research seeks to thoroughly and comprehensively examine the role and application methods of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model in enhancing the critical thhinking abilities of elementary school students. The method of research employed is library research utilizing a qualitative approach, wherein data is gathered from diverse reputable academic sources and subsequently analyzed thematically. The conceptual framework employed in examining this phenomenon pertains to Jean Piaget's Cognitve Development Theory and Lev Vygotsky's Social Constructivism Theory. The analysis results indicate that every phase in the TPS syntax can consistently affect children's critical thinking indicators. The think stage successfully cultivates cognitive autonomy and preliminary analysis by allowing for wait time. The pair stage enables the assessment, clarification, and negotiation of arguments through peer tutoring in a controlled and secure environment. Simultaneously, the shared stage enhances students' reflective communication abilities, improved interpretation, and self-management in a public setting. TPS is a strategic and flexible teaching approach aimed at improving children's critical thinking, given that educators can create challenging problems and effectively handle classroom interactions inclusively.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of third-grade students through the use of concrete media at SDN 61 Palembang. The background of this research is based on the low mathematics learning outcomes of students, particularly in their ability to understand fundamental mathematical concepts which are still considered abstract for elementary school students. The use of less varied instructional methods has resulted in students being less active, less motivated, and experiencing difficulties in understanding the learning materials. Therefore, concrete media are employed as an alternative instructional approach to assist students in comprehending mathematical concepts in a more tangible, meaningful, and easily understandable manner. This study employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 34 third-grade students. Data were collected through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The data analysis was carried out using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches by comparing the improvement in students’ learning outcomes in each cycle. The results of the study indicated that the use of concrete media was effective in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes. In the pre-cycle stage, the average student learning outcomes were still below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC). The percentage of learning mastery reached only 46%, with an average score of 46.50. After the implementation of concrete media in Cycle I, the level of learning mastery increased to 61%, with an average score of 63.94. Although students’ learning outcomes showed improvement, several students had not yet achieved the expected level of mastery. In Cycle II, the improvement in learning outcomes became more significant, increasing to 91% with an average score of 89.34, indicating that the majority of students had successfully achieved the MMC. In addition to improving learning outcomes, the use of concrete media was also able to enhance students’ activeness, motivation, and interest in participating in the mathematics learning process. Therefore, concrete media have proven to be effective in helping students understand mathematical concepts more easily and in a more enjoyable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Course Review Horay (CRH) learning model on the learning outcomes of fourth grade students in Social Studies subjects. The background of this research is based on the low learning outcomes of students caused by the lack of variety of learning models used by teachers, so that students are less active and quickly feel bored in the learning process. The research method used is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental Design. The Design in this study is an experimental study with a Pre-Experimental Design research Design in the form of One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The population and samples in this study were fourth grade students in one of the public elementary schools consisting of two classes, namely the experimental class using the CRH learning model and the control class using the conventional learning model. Data collection techniques were observation, test, and documentation. The instrument used was a learning outcome test given before and after treatment (pretest and posttest). The results of the instrument trial to determine the quality of a research instrument must meet the requirements, namely validity, normality, and hypothesis testing. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students who used the CRH learning model and students who used the conventional learning model. Thus, it can be concluded that the CRH learning model has a positive effect on improving student learning outcomes in social studies subjects
