Abstract

Abstract

Galang Island region's potential development into a tourism area depends on the physical potential, diversity of flora and fauna and activities that support the economic sector for residents around Galang Island. There are two types of ecotourism development recommendations, one concerning conservation which aims to preserve ecosystems and the second is the use of natural beauty as tourism background and facilities that support the surrounding resident's economy. The problem is how the two tourism recommendations can work together and what kind of synergy the recommendations are like. Through identification stages of the flora and fauna types and analysis of the economic activities of residents around Galang Island, produce a mapping of the potential that can be developed into a tourism area. In the ideation stage, the potential analysis can be realized by functional zone, namely conservation zones, recreation zones and their relationship to regional boundaries and the synergy relationship formed through the circulation concept. By the zones and circulation concept, the visualization phase will be more detailed explaining by the atmosphere that was formed as a synergy form in the Galang Island region design

Abstract

The availability of non-renewable resources to generate electrical energy has decreased. The National Energy Council says that Indonesia has huge potential renewable energy resources. The largest amount coming from solar energy. However, only 5% is utilized. The number of building owners who want to install the technology related to renewable energy on/in a building in Indonesia is still very small. This happens due to the high initial cost of installation. In case of an existing building, the boundaries added with the limitation of structure and limitation of potential-available integrated area. This study proposed a BIPV model in an existing building to contribute the maximum use of renewable energy in a relatively limited potential-available integrated area. The experimental method was applied to several models. Amount of electrical energy generated, and ROI were used as optimization parameters. ROI will give more comprehensive review to a building owner, to show that the time period is the most critical determinant of investment. The study shows that installation of PV on an opaque wall in the west orientation is the optimum one. The model generated 777741 kWh/year of electrical energy, exceeding the existing consumption. ROI calculated in 4.36 years, relatively short compared to 25 years of PV life guarantee. The optimization on this model is supported by its largest number of integrated area and high annual radiation received. This study shows significant results to the building owner. Electrical energy and ROI should be fully taken as a consideration of when to decide to apply PV.

Abstract

The capacity of the isolation room at the hospital appointed by the Government to treat Covid-19 patients is no longer able to accommodate the positive Covid-19 patients. Positive Covid-19 patients with no symptoms or other signs of worsening physical conditions are advised to do self-quarantine and isolation independently. This self-quarantine/isolation becomes a problem especially in densely populated settlements, especially informal settlements. The case study on this community service activity is an informal settlement located along the Surabaya railroad. Together with the Surabaya ARKOM team as partners, this community service activity conducting field observations with the results that there are still many poor house conditions in this area, the conditions of the houses are tight and not fulfilled the standards of a healthy house, which causes a larger potential spread of Covid-19 virus and makes it impossible to carry out self-isolation in their each homes. The solution offered is to create a communal isolation room module as an emergency isolation room for informal village communities during a pandemic or can be used in other certain emergency conditions with a participatory design method that meets health standards for isolation rooms designed with the easy and fast module applications process. The purpose of this activity is to provide a set of modules for communal quarantine units as prototypes that can be made by the community with a simple system, easily available materials, fast and prioritizing community participation in its assembling.

Abstract

generated from a variety of sources, both renewable and nonrenewable. Switching from nonrenewable to renewable energy sources is one of many strategies that can be used to achieve net-zero buildings. In Indonesia, this strategy is very feasible due to its abundant renewable energy resources, particularly solar energy. This research presents a school building as the proposed case. The school, SCK Citra Garden, is chosen as the pilot project due to its access to solar radiation and its minimum shading conditions. Using Helioscope software, BIPV modelling was simulated on its roof, and the electrical energy output from BIPV was calculated. The substitution percentages of BIPV energy output for conventional electrical energy consumed by the building were then measured. This percentage was compared to the National Energy Mix target and Greenhouse Gas Standard to assess its performance towards net-zero school buildings. The result shows that BIPV has a good performance. Even though the substitution percentage is still below the national energy mix target, it exceeds the greenhouse gas standard target for on-site renewable energy tools.

Abstract

The increase in the number of patients who are positive for COVID-19 is not equipped by the capacity of isolation rooms in hospitals and safe houses assigned by the government, only 20% of infected patients require hospital care, while the rest 80% are suggested for self-quarantine and isolation. The problem becoming more complex for dense informal settlements, as a case study is a railway-line settlement in Surabaya. Based on the result of the observation, the house at the railway-line settlement has not met the healthy housing category, if there are residents infected with the COVID-19 virus, self-quarantine in their own house is also inadequate and it can cause the spread of the virus to other family members. This study aims to find a design solution for self-isolation units that can be applied in dense informal settlements during a pandemic. In addition to meeting health requirements, this isolation unit must be easy to assemble, cheap, and fast in its construction. The approach used for its design is participatory planning so that the design results are suitable for community needs and strengthen the community's sense of belonging towards its development and maintenance.

Abstract

Green Economy is a sustainable economic activity to be able to improve people's welfare without neglecting the impact that causes damage to the environment. This concept prioritizes economic activities with low carbon emissions. Currently, the largest carbon emissions are caused by power plants that still use non-renewable natural resources. One of the efforts made to reduce carbon emissions is to use a solar power plant, known as PV Solarcell. However, with new developments and discoveries for solar power plants, BIPV is perfected. BIPV is a solar power plant where the existing solar panels are attached to buildings or buildings. The aim of this research is to be able to create a new green economy business model for BIPV power plants by using lean canvas tools. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. This research starts from May to October 2022. The results of this study using the lean canvas concept can create an integrated and sustainable green economy business model ecosystem to be able to create new value.
