Abstract

This study aims to determine parents’ willingness to pay (WTP) for their children’s dental caries prevention program at elementary school using a direct survey—the Contingent Valuation Method. This study collected data from 264 parents of students aged 6-12 years old (the 1st to the 6th grade). Children at this age are at risk of dental caries because they consume more sweets, chocolate, and other sugary products. The survey results showed that the average WTP value for caries prevention was IDR 103,371. Income, education, and self-perceived needs for treatments were variables that positively and significantly affected WTP. Other variables such as parents’ age and frequency of visiting a dental healthcare facility were insignificant. Oral and dental health treatments can impact not only health during childhood but also in adulthood. The findings can inform health departments in improving dental health services. Research on preventing oral and dental diseases, especially caries, is still limited in Indonesia. Most studies involve adult respondents, whereas this study involves primary school students.

Abstract

This study looks at the connection between people’s willingness to pay (WTP) for waste management services anf their social capital. The research utilitizes a linier regression model to examine the relationship between social capital and people’ desire to interact, making use of contigent valiation, a technique useful for assessing financial prices and preferences for non-market environmental assets. With an average WTP of IDR 17,000 (USD 1,09), the result show that 58.2% of the community is willing to pay for garbage management. The study finds a positive correlation between social capital and WTP, suggesting that strong community bonds, high levels of trust, and external family connections enhance the likelihood of supporting sustainable waste management initiatives. In addition to sociodemographic traits, the WTP's ability to manage waste is also impacted. Legislators and waste management experts should take note of these findings, which emphasize the need of fostering social capital to boost public involvement and support for sustainable waste management projects. Building trust, promoting community involvement, and establishing shared environmental principles can all contribute to the development of an environment that is conducive to effective waste management techniques. This study contributes to the expanding body of information about the socioeconomic drivers of waste management practices by highlighting the crucial role that social capital plays in creating WTP for waste management solutions.

Abstract

Land is the basis for infrastructure and agriculture and is crucial to economic growth. The factors influencing land prices, in Magelang Regency, Indonesia, are investigated in this study. This study examines the effects of land productivity, land area, environmental conditions, and distance to major infrastructure (village center, trade area, and city center) on land value using a hedonic price model. The results indicate that while land area and distance to the center city does not have a statistically significant impact on land prices, land productivity, other accessibility, and environmental factors do. Due to the growing demand for land with significant economic potential, proximity to economic centers particularly important village roads and city centers plays a significant role in determining land value. Moreover, there is a significant connection between land prices and environmental parameters like temperature, indicating the growing significance of environmental quality in land prices. In order to guarantee sustainable land market development, these findings emphasize the necessity of incorporating economic, environmental, and geographical aspects into land valuation systems. This study highlights the necessity of strategic land use regulations to balance equitable land distribution, environmental sustainability, and economic development, offering valuable information to politicians and urban planners.

Abstract

Wonosobo Regency is one of the leading tourist destinations in Central Java with significant natural and cultural potential. However, fluctuations in tourism sector revenues, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, indicate the need to identify factors that affect the economic performance of the sector. This research aims to analyze the impact of the number of hotels, the number of tourists, and the number of tourist attractions on tourism sector income in Wonosobo Regency from 2014 to 2022. The data in this study were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of Wonosobo Regency, the Tourism and Culture Office of Wonosobo Regency, and other sources related to this research. This study uses Multiple Linear Regression Analysis with EViews 10 as the analysis tool. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out, it was found that the number of tourists and the number of hotels have a positive and significant influence, while the number of tourist attractions has a negative and significant influence. The R² result obtained was 0.880161, showing that the variables under study (number of tourists, number of hotels, and number of tourist attractions) influence tourism sector income by 88%, while other variables outside the study account for the remaining 12%. These findings underscore the need to prioritize quality over quantity in tourism development. Local governments should enhance existing attractions, boost promotion, and streamline hotel investment processes. Tourism stakeholders must innovate services and collaborate to strengthen sustainable appeal.
