Abstract

Vastenburg Fortress is a fortress of Dutch army built within Sala village in 1832. As time goes on, the building stands by as 'silent witness' of every steps of social dynamics in Surakarta. Therefore, the fortress shows important potencies for society development in future. Based of the mapping of those existing potencies, the design potencies is to create a place that able to experimentally connect new significancy between future society development and all historical components within the site. Hence, the new function as urban museum does really fit in this category. To adapt with the new function as urban museum, using infill design as the main design approach is supported by several design methods; earth-sheltered architecture, sequence concept. Infill design is the main approach to integrate the old elements and the new elements within the site. Earth-sheltered architecture is the structural approach of the design that fits the site condition with its historical elements. Sequence concept is the basic concept of integrating the site with other heritage areas around it.

Abstract

Abstract: Forest Sekipan Tawangmangu have very interesting potential with special features pine forests, forest quinine, orchids and wildlife such as birds at Forest Sekipan. But all that is not enough to attract visitors because of the division and circulation zone that has not been regular and the limited facilities available in the Forest Sekipan. Conditions of flora and fauna are also threatened because taken and hunted. Therefore Forest Sekipan have developed to become an attractive tourist spot. In addition, the expansion also aims to preserve biodiversity contained in the forest. The question is how to develop a design that was once Forest Sekipan campground become wana trips to tourist activities, education, research or conservation. The method used is the application of the principles of Ecotourism and Green Architecture. Abstract

Designing Modern Dance Center in Yogyakarta motivated by the high public interest, especially among teenagers towards modern dance. The development of modern dance and many art events of modern dance especially in Yogyakarta, which  the largest are Gatsby Dance Competition is held once a year, and United Dance World, held every two years, the main attraction of modern dance lovers community to creation and develop themselves. In addition, the modern dance community in Yogyakarta who have limited space and want a complete facilities, as well as comfort in doing activities, the purpose of this scheme is to make the concept of a platform for modern dance community in Yogyakarta with a view shape of the building that expresses movement of modern dance. Design issues are: how to realize the visual appearance of the building to express the movement of modern dance into the building design of Modern Dance Center. Characteristics are taken, namely the dynamic character embodied through order to see the buildings and mass; aesthetic character is realized through the interior view of the building, wall elements, and mass composition; and the contrast of the characters is realized through the whole mass. The method used is the method of architectural design. The result obtained is a design of a container for the modern dance community in Yogyakarta with the display form of the building expresses the characteristics of the modern dance movement. Keywords: Architecture, Architectural Metaphor, Characteristics of Modern Dance, Modern Dance Center.

Abstract

Abstract: The designing of Railways Research and Development Center are because of the developing of trains functions are not supported by improvment of technologies and human resources inside of railways system although trains have an important meaning for citizen’s mobility especially in Java and Sumatera Islands. There is caused by no adequate research and development center facility that integrated with railways educative and training center. Based from that reasons, there's important to provide an adequate research and development center facility that can be used for improving the new quality of train services from human resources and so the new technologies one. The activity of Research and Development Centre, basically are expandable activity that always grow and need the place that can accomodate it. Thus, Efficiency in Research and Development Centre’s activity is need a functional design too. So that, to accomplish that purposes, it needs a expandable function design’s building, more efficient and attractable design. So, from that reaseon, the primary of design’s problem is how to plan dan design an efficient, dynamic, attractive and expandable in the future though Hightech Architectural emohasis. Abstract

Designing Recreational Waterfront Harbour in Banten motivated by the lack of ports in Banten, the issue of the Selat Sunda bridge construction plan, and the tourism potential of the waterfront, so the purpose of this scheme is to get the port design that can provide berthing facilities and activities waterfront recreational activities by applying Architecture Analogy Emphasis  to express the shape and movement of water in buildings and harbor area. Design issues are: how the expression form and movement of water can be translated into the design of Recreational Waterfront Harbour. The method used in the design of mass system design, the basic shape and appearance of the harbor is the analogy architectural method of shapes and movement of water. The result obtained is the design of a blend of a port area and waterfront recreation area that expresses the shape and movement of water in the form of basic, mass system and display area. Keywords: Recreational Waterfront, Form and Movement Water, Architecture Analogy.

Abstract

Batik became one of Indonesia’s cultural heritage that should be preserved and cultivated batik is already recognized by the international community (UNESCO) designated as a Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Purwokerto is a batik producer Banyumasan which have tourism potential of batik spreads make travelers less efficient in time to reach the points the location of batik industry. The problems that arise in the design of the center of Batik Banyumasan in Purwokerto is how efforts to plan and design a Banyumasan Batik Center that hostsrelated activities efficient batik tour for tourists. The aim is to meet the container activities related to information and promotion, sales, and production of Banyumasan Batik with the approach of Local Wisdom. Architectural design that fits this batik center planning method using Local Wsdom aspect due to the approach of considering the aspects of Local Wisdom that still exists in the local environment. The concept of a Batik Centre Local Wisdom will apply to wards the building that includes the concept of a zone of space, building orientation, shape and appearance of the building as well as the structure of the building is closely related to the element of local wisdom. Keywords:Batik, Banyumasan Batik, Batik Center, Purwokerto, Local Wisdom.

Abstract

bstract: Planetarium in Yogyakarta is one means of recreation (scientific tourism), which aims to provide a forum for the public to know the information and knowledge about astronomy. The design of the Planetarium in Yogyakarta background with the potential for the city of Yogyakarta as education, cultural cities, and tourist destinations. Furthermore in Yogyakarta there are also a bevy of astronomy called Jogja Astro Club (JAC) to academician , the general public, students and people from all walks of astronomy enthusiasts. One of the main factors is the absence of a container that holds information about astronomy. Design problem that arises is how to apply the constituent elements of the space in the form of massive columns that connect the space inside - outside space with lighting arrangements such as the embodiment of style cubisme. Planetarium in Yogyakarta with cubisme style and the big bang theory emphasizes two things in common  namely space, time, and matter. In the Planetarium, cubisme style manifested by the presence of the shape and mass composition (time, circulation and materials), circulation (outside the circulation and circulation within the site) which is a manifestation of the set of spatial planning (materials, space and lighting).Keywords: Planetarium, Scientific Tourism, Potency and Activity Planetarium, Cubisme Style.

Abstract

Today’s fashion is an important part of the lifestyle and influence in many aspects of life including influential in global economic that the development should be considered. Bandung as a creative city supported by enterprising creative industries and communities is a suitable habitat in the development of the fashion mode that has significant impact on the development of the creative economy in the city of Bandung. Based on the Government Work Report Bandung (LKPJ AMJ) in 2012, the growth of creative industries has decreased. Fashion needs to be developed starting from human resources, the manufacturing process of mode, distribution of works / fashion products, activities in the networking community, the container activities of urban communities to engage in communal and urban public recreation in the creative space. Therefore, the existence of Bandung Fashion Hub as a center of fashion in Bandung is indispensable. Of these issues, the design problem is to what extent the expression of space and forms that can be imaged expression of fashion stakeholder interaction and how to express creatively through fashion symbol of the city which can be a recreational space in the city of Bandung. The method used is a method of planning and designing architecture namely by processing the data and information (concept of) for creating design concept (concept for design) through the process of programming, design criteria and performance of a design concept. Expressive design approach by using the meaning of the symbol, the idea of space, form that expose the material so that it can express the character of fashion events and characters of Bandung as a creative city. Therefore the design of Bandung Fashion Hub aims to facilitate all activities related to the character of the activities of fashion stakeholders including forecasting activities, show off, market and shop. Abstract

Abstract: Pasar Cepogo is a public commercial centre in Cepogo. This traditional market is the preferred place to shop daily needs by the residents of Cepogo and people living in its surrounding area since it offers array of affordable prices. There are social aspects of the tradition manifested in the way bargains are settled. Yet, this market still has problems such as inconvenient environment, cluttered floor plan, uncharted activities, and decaying infrastructures. Based on these conditions, the design problem consists of creating a space to cater all activities in Pasar Cepogo and taking form fitting to its surrounding in order to maintain its existence as a traditional market. Redesign project of Pasar Cepogo aims to improve the condition of the market in order to provide convenient commercial space suiting present-day demand without leaving its traditional roots. Hence, contextual architecture approach is considered fit the notion. Contextual theme aspires to appropriate the redesigned building for its site, which concerns physical features, climate, culture, and local architecture aspects of the surrounding area. Physical features approach influence the site management adapted to the site conditions. Climate aspects approach is implemented into design response to the local climate, such as the use of  a high and sloping roof, tritisan, and cross ventilation. The cultural approach is actualized into the space management adapted to the context of activities in Pasar Cepogo. Local architecture approach is implemented into the form and appearance of the building, adjusting Java architecture and Hindu architecture that once evolved in Cepogo. Keywords: Contextual Architecture, Market Redesign, Traditional Market.

Abstract

Modern women in urban areas with high mobility, tend to be easily stress and then impact on her body fitness, beauty, and even her health. Stress has become part of modern human life, and one way to cure it is with relaxation. Nowadays not only the beauty treatments but also health care are also sought by women. There is connection between beauty and health, because they’re influence and rely on each other. Beauty basically will decrease and fade, if their body not health, and vice versa. Modern women who has little time, requires an efficient and practical way of treatment to relaxation her body. This issue bring the idea to design a special space to fulfill of women needs, where is consist of health, beauty, and fitness care center. The formulation of the problems in this design is to realize six principles of healing environment. This care center is designed as a place that provides a variety of women needs from health, beauty, fitness, and also as a relaxation space. So it requires a comfortable and quiet atmosphere. Healing environment was selected as the method of design concepts, so can be expected to provide quiet atmosphere, and also can accommodate visitors to help the healing process both physically and psychologically, so that visitors can get fitter. The application of  healing environment concept applied trough nature texture and material so can give perseption to visitors to feel close with nature,  and health colour applied in interior trough furniture or wall colour.
