Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence Islamic fintech literacy among university students, focusing on three main variables: gender, Islamic financial education, and social media. Islamic fintech is rapidly developing as an alternative to digital financial services that comply with Islamic principles. However, students' literacy levels regarding these services are still relatively low. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through a Google Form-based questionnaire and involves 170 students from various regions in Indonesia. The data is analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that Islamic financial education and social media have a positive and significant effect on Islamic fintech literacy. Conversely, gender does not show a significant effect. These findings indicate that improving Islamic fintech literacy among students can be achieved through strengthening Islamic-based financial education and optimizing social media as an educational too. Keywords: literasi fintech syariah, jenis kelamin, pendidikan keuangan syariah, media sosial, mahasiswa.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the effect of Islamic financial instruments, including social funds zakah, infak, and sadaqah (ZIS), Islamic financing, Sharia stocks, and corporate sukuk, on economic growth.Methodology – This study uses monthly data from 2013 to 2022 to examine the relationship between ZIS distribution, Islamic bank financing, Islamic stock capitalization, corporate sukuk issuance, and economic growth proxied by the production industry index (IPI). The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) was utilized.Findings – According to the short-term estimation results, sukuk significantly hinders economic growth, whereas only the ZIS variable has a positive and significant impact. Long-term economic growth is positively impacted by the ZIS and Islamic financing variables, negatively impacted by sukuk, and not significantly impacted by Sharia stock. The Impulse Response Function and Variance Decomposition analysis results also demonstrate that the variables of the Islamic financial sector have a shock effect on Indonesia's economic growth, with ZIS funds making up the majority of the contribution and Sharia stocks the least.Implications – This study will help policymakers, industry, and academia accelerate the Islamic finance sector in Indonesia and strengthen its role in supporting and advancing Indonesia's economic recovery.Originality – Islamic finance, commonly known as Islamic banking–extends beyond Indonesian banks. Non-bank Islamic institutions, including capital markets and social finance, play a vital role in optimizing Islamic financial instruments for national economic growth.

Abstract

The major weakness of SMEs is in financial management and marketing. These problems obstruct their growth and ability to plan and innovate their business. This study examines the influence of personality, financial culture, and competence on SMEs' innovation and financial planning. The sample was determined by proportional random sampling repose industry type, and 285 complete data were analyzed. Data were collected through a structured offline questionnaire. A quantitative analysis approach was followed using a structural equation model. The results show that financial planning is an effective mediator of personality, financial culture, and competencies toward financial innovation. Personality and financial culture do not directly affect financial innovation but indirectly affect financial planning. However, competence directly affects financial innovation and indirectly passes through financial planning. This paper argues that SMEs have the potential to overcome economic crises by focusing on how they manage finance innovation and considering determining factors of financial planning and innovation. Finally, this study contributes to the literature on SME financial behavior and factors such as personality, financial culture, and competencies that leads to the recommendation of SME owners/managers to innovate in accessing finance. Keywords: competencies, financial culture, financial innovation, financial planning, personality

Abstract

FACTOR ANALYSIS OF UNDERWRITING SURPLUS OF TABARRU FUND SHARIA LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY IN INDONESIA Abstract Purpose: This study aims to analyze the impact of contributions, claims, and investment returns on the surplus underwriting of the tabarru fund in Sharia life insurance companies in Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach: The research employs a multiple regression analysis using the Ordinary Least Square method. The study focuses on Sharia life insurance companies and Sharia business units in Indonesia. Findings: The results indicate that contributions have a positive and significant effect on the underwriting surplus of the tabarru fund. Claims show no significant effect on the tabarru fund guarantee surplus. Investment returns, however, exhibit a negative and significant effect on the tabarru fund guarantee surplus. Simultaneously, contributions, claims, and investment return collectively have a significant impact on the underwriting surplus of the tabarru fund. Higher contribution funds ease claim expenses, increase tabarru fund reserves, and present opportunities for underwriting surplus. Research limitations/implications: This research is limited to Sharia life insurance companies and business units in Indonesia. The findings provide insights into the factors influencing the underwriting surplus of the tabarru fund but may not be universally applicable. Practical implications: The study suggests that companies should focus on controlling the risk of claims to enhance underwriting surplus. Understanding the impact of contributions, claims, and investment returns is crucial for effective financial management in Sharia life insurance companies. Keywords: Contributions, Claims, Investment, Underwriting Surplus. Abstract

Objective: This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of an AI-based adaptive credit scoring system that integrates Open Finance principles and the use of alternative data in assessing microcredit eligibility in emerging markets.Research Design & Methods: This study uses a mixed-methods approach with AI model experiments to test machine learning and deep learning-based adaptive credit scoring systems and thematic analysis to understand implementation challenges and regulatory preparedness.Findings: Hypothetical results show that AI models (XGBoost, Deep Learning) significantly outperform traditional models (logistic regression) in microcredit eligibility assessment, with an AUC improvement of 15-20% (e.g., AUC 0.88 for XGBoost vs. 0.72 for logistic regression). Similar improvements are also seen in Precision, Recall, and F1-score metrics. Adaptivity testing shows a 2-5% increase in model accuracy after each retraining cycle, with the model's ability to dynamically adjust credit scores in real-time to changes in user behaviour. Interpretation of the results through XAI identified consistent utility bill payment patterns, digital wallet transaction frequency, and mobile phone number usage duration as the most influential predictive factors.Implications & Recommendations: Integration of AI and Open Finance with alternative data improves the efficiency and inclusiveness of credit scoring, so it is recommended that industry players and regulators develop data infrastructure, apply Responsible AI principles, and formulate comprehensive and collaborative Open Finance regulations.Contribution & Value Added: This research contributes to the FinTech and AI literature by providing technical and policy guidance to promote financial inclusion by developing adaptive assessment machine and responsible AI oversight in emerging markets.
