Abstract

Purpose – This study aimed to analyze the purchase intentions of Muslim students from private Islamic universities in Indonesia toward halal cosmetics in Korea.Methodology – This study involved 287 Muslim students from eight private Islamic universities in Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) to examine the relationships between the variables.Findings – The results reveal that attitude, brand image, country of origin, and fear of missing out (FOMO) significantly influence purchase intention. Among these, brand image exerts the strongest effect, followed by FOMO, whereas country of origin has a smaller influence. In contrast, halal knowledge and religiosity do not directly affect purchase intention, although they significantly influence attitudes.Implication – These findings underscore the importance of Korean halal cosmetic brands in building strong brand image and fostering positive consumer attitudes. Companies should focus on the perceived product quality, innovation, and alignment with values that are important to Muslim consumers. In addition, the significant role of FOMO suggests the effectiveness of marketing strategies that create urgency and exclusivity.Originality – This research is original in its focus on Korean halal cosmetic purchase intentions among Muslim students from eight Islamic private universities in Indonesia. It contributes to the understanding of how brand image, religiosity, halal knowledge, country of origin, and FOMO shape consumer behavior in the halal cosmetic market.

Abstract

Purpose — This study examines the effects of financial inclusion and institutional quality on bank stability. It first examines the effects of banking on the whole Asian region and then the region according to income categories.Method — We use aggregate data from 2013 to 2021 to investigate banking stability in 39 Asian countries and apply the generalized method of Moments (GMM), specifically the first difference GMM and system GMM. In addition, this research uses Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to measure the composite variables of the financial inclusion index and institutional quality index. Findings — The findings demonstrate that overall financial inclusion has a favourable effect on Asian nations' banking systems. However, an examination based on income categories reveals some intriguing results: financial inclusion improves bank stability in lower- and upper-middle-income countries but does not affect high-income countries. In lower-middle-income countries, institutional quality has a detrimental effect on bank stability; in upper-middle-income and high-income countries, it has no effect.Implications — The availability of financial services to households and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) significantly impacts the stability of Asian banks. Several policy recommendations are feasible to implement, including the need for collaboration between banks and the government to broaden banking services to all communities, particularly in lower-middle-income nations.Originality — Analyzing the differences in the impact of institutional quality and financial inclusion variables on banking stability in Asian countries according to income categories.

Methodology – The respondents in this study were 320 young Muslims who had previously made infaq payments through online platforms. The research framework applied was an extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model to predict the intention to use new technology. Structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques to assess the validity, reliability, and relationships between various latent variables.Findings – The results of the data analysis show that performance expectations, social influence, infaq literacy, and habits have a significant influence on the intention to pay infaq through online platforms. In addition, habits and intention to pay donations online also influence usage behavior in paying donations via online platforms. Implications – Based on these findings, it is recommended that the Amil Zakat Infaq and Sedekah Agency (BAZNAS) collaborate with profit-oriented and non-profit social organizations in Indonesia. This collaboration is expected to improve online infaq services and expand the reach of community participation, in line with the increasing intention in and habit of using online platforms to pay infaq.Originality – This study uniquely focuses on the young Muslim generation's behavior in using online platforms for infaq, an area not extensively explored in previous research. By employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), it offers a comprehensive analysis of both direct and indirect effects, providing actionable insights for enhancing online donation platforms.
