Abstract

Logam berat seperti timbal (Pb) dan kadmium (Cd) merupakan polutan berbahaya yang dapat mengganggu fungsi fisiologis organisme akuatik, termasuk ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon fisiologis ikan nila terhadap paparan Pb(NO₃)₂ dan CdCl₂ pada konsentrasi 1 ppm selama 3 jam. Parameter yang diamati meliputi kecepatan respirasi, morfometrik saluran pencernaan, serta parameter hematologi seperti jumlah eritrosit, leukosit, dan kadar hemoglobin. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa paparan CdCl₂ memberikan efek toksik lebih kuat dibandingkan Pb(NO₃)₂, dengan penurunan signifikan pada jumlah eritrosit, kadar hemoglobin, dan kecepatan respirasi. Sementara itu, paparan Pb(NO₃)₂ juga menyebabkan penurunan hemoglobin dan eritrosit, serta perubahan warna organ pencernaan seperti empedu dan hati, namun efeknya tidak sebesar CdCl₂. Kedua logam berat meningkatkan jumlah leukosit sebagai respons imun terhadap stres oksidatif. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa logam berat, terutama Cd, dapat mengganggu sistem pernapasan, peredaran darah, dan fungsi pencernaan ikan nila.

Abstract

Developing 4C skills (critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration) is crucial for students' success, yet many Indonesian students still struggle to master these competencies. This study evaluates the impact of PBL on 10th-grade students' 4C skills in the genetic diversity topic at SMAN 3 Jember. Using a quasi-experimental design, 72 students were divided into control (36) and experimental (36) groups. Pre- and post-tests assessed critical and creative thinking, while communication and collaboration were observed directly. Data were analyzed with ANCOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests in IBM SPSS Statistics 24.  The findings revealed significant improvement in the experimental group, moving from "poor" to "critical, creative, communicative, and collaborative," The control group showed only “modest” progress to "fair."  In conclusion, PBL is an effective approach to enhancing students' 4C skills, offering a valuable model for innovative teaching aligned with 21st-century education goals.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve student’s critical thinking skill and student retention in learning biology through active learning strategy innovation Everyone Is A Teacher Here (ETH) based on Questioning and Answering (Q&A). Moreover, the type of research used is a quasi-experimental research using a pre-test, post-test, and re-test research pattern. In addition, the research was conducted at SMAN 3 Jember in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The XI MIPA 2 class was selected as the experimental class and XI MIPA 4 as the control class. Based on the results of this study, the ETH strategy based on Q&A has a significant effect on students' critical thinking skills and retention in biology class XI. This is evidenced by the results of the significance of the Anakova test using SPSS, critical thinking skills have a significance of 0.000 (p<0.05) and student retention has a significance of 0.000 (p<0.05). The innovative learning strategy used in this study can be applied in class because it can increase student focus and motivation, especially in biology.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the perceptions of pre-service biology teachers and in-service biology teachers on artificial intelligence in Biology learning. AI has recently become a new trend and has changed many aspects of life. Artificial intelligence allows machines to learn from experience, adapt to new inputs, and perform human-like tasks like ChatGPT, launched in Q4 of 2022. The survey method used in this study. We used a questionnaire from 42 respondents of in-service teachers and pre-service teachers, respectively. Selected teachers were senior high school biology teachers who have used the independent curriculum in their schools. This study showed that the pre-service biology teachers (69%) had higher perceptions than in-service biology teachers (40.5%). This result followed by AI usage; 28.6% of pre-service biology teachers and 7.1% of in-service biology teachers used AI daily. However, the pre-service and in-service biology teachers believed that AI could be implemented in the new curriculum to increase student achievement on biology subject. This study concluded that the perceptions of to use AI is still low. So, AI must be introduced to the pre-service and in-service biology teachers.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru MGMP Biologi Sidoarjo dalam mengintegrasikan Artificial Intelligence (AI) dan Virtual Laboratory dalam pembelajaran biologi. Pelatihan difokuskan pada pemanfaatan AI untuk pembuatan prompt dalam menghasilkan game edukatif melalui Canva AI, serta penggunaan Virtual Laboratory sebagai media pendukung pemahaman konsep biologi. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui pemaparan materi, demonstrasi, praktik pembuatan media, diskusi, dan pendampingan. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dan dokumentasi selama kegiatan. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa guru mampu membuat media pembelajaran digital berbasis AI yang interaktif serta memahami pemanfaatan Virtual Laboratory sebagai pelengkap praktikum luring. Antusiasme peserta terlihat dari keterlibatan aktif pada setiap sesi praktik dan diskusi. Integrasi AI dan Virtual Laboratory terbukti memberikan alternatif solusi untuk pembelajaran biologi yang lebih inovatif, menarik, dan relevan dengan kebutuhan era digital. Kegiatan ini juga membangun kesadaran guru akan pentingnya penerapan teknologi secara berkelanjutan sebagai bagian dari transformasi pembelajaran. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan literasi digital dan kemampuan pedagogis guru dalam memanfaatkan teknologi pembelajaran modern.
